Have you ever watched the movie wrong turn. This describes the campground. Red neck hillbillies that rip you off. They charge you per kid and I had 3. Over 40 for no electric or water site. But I did get full sun and no shade ohh that sucked too. I went to this campground by mistake. Just go to the state park campground down the road.

This was the worst campground I have ever stayed at. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. The showers were the worst. I’s not very secluded either. we were at the front beside road near the main entrance. I am also pretty sure the woman at the front desk might have been drinking. I definitely don’t recommend going here.

I stayed here for a few days this week and it was okay. When I was looking for campgrounds in the Hocking Hills I pretty much just chose the first place I saw, and I was a little disappointed by my choice. I often judge a campground by the RV to tent ratio, and at this place it was a little high. We were the only tent campers in the park. I probably could have guessed that this would be the case just by the fact that they have a pool, and camp store. I did like the fact that they had a «park and pack» section of the park where you could do just as the name suggests and park your car and haul your stuff into the woods a little ways. That was kind of nice. The unfortunate part of this, and probably my biggest complaint was that they just so happened to be logging those woods at the time. We of course didn’t know this until we were woken up at 7:30AM by the sound of chainsaws buzzing and trees falling every which way around our campsite. We had to get up and make sure that we weren’t about to have a tree falling through our roof because it certainly sounded like it. The trees were falling very very close to us. This unwelcome wake up call continued for the next two mornings as well as the trees fell in the woods and we had the immense displeasure of being around to hear them make a sound. I realize that this is probably not a typical experience, but it was really lousy. One thing I did like is that there is a trail to Ash Cave that starts in the campground. It’s a little farther walk then if you started from the Ash Cave parking lot, but it was very convenient. There was also a trail to Cedar Falls, though we didn’t take it since we were doing Old Man’s Cave and Rockhouse all at the same time. I also liked that the staff was friendly, and the showers were hot, though you had to pull a string connected to the faucet above to keep the water flowing. Overall, I felt that it was overpriced at 33 bucks a night for a primitive site, and it is a place that would suit people with RVs a lot better. All the RV sites came with decks — kinda cool. If we ever go back we’ll go to the actual state park campground.
