Rey’s is open for business with all hand made items. Rey’s 3 day process of making the black beans with his own sofrito and hand tending the dried black beans into that delicious side dish is amazing. There is no opening up cans or pulling frozen items off from the shelf at Rey’s. I also like the fact that Rey has a small food truck that sits by the Grayson Farmers Market from 3:30 until 7pm on Wednedays. A delicious Cuban sandwich is the highlight of his pared-down menu, he(Rey) wants to to the things he does best in a special way. I like the restaurant and the owner, he has his eye on the prize.

Take out, dine in, especially catering. Yes catering is well prepared and delivery on time. Best food. Rey will even go out of his way to satisfied his customers. «You give a pregnant women what she wants». Best Cuban food I have ever had.

I’m always in search of great Cuban sandwiches and Rey doesn’t disappoint. The sandwich was full of flavor but what really made the experience was Rey himself. Just a great guy to be around. I will definitely return soon!

This is one of my favorite places in Loganville. Rey is the nicest person you’ll ever meet, and the food is fantastic and authentic. The menu and hours are limited, compared to the previous incarnation of this business, but the food is still just as delicious as it once was. Rey goes out of his way to make sure the customer is happy, and when we go in, we feel like friends.

I love this place ! I use to go to Rey’s Cuban Grill and have now followed him to his new location. I love Cuban food and this is the real thing. The prices are great and it’s nice that the owner is always there to meet and greet ! My favorites are the sweet plaintains, the empanadas, the Cuban coffee ! Yum.

Love the food, cozy atmosphere, the owner is insanely nice and proud of his restaurant(rightly so!). Even the customers are friendly! It’s not unusual to start a little chit chat with someone as you snack on you plantain chips. And the prices are completely reasonable. I’ve actually thought Rey could raise them and no one would mind. He is in business to make money after all! :) but the man loves his customers, what can I say? We come here at LEAST4 times a month and are never disappointed.

We use to go here when they were a full restaurant. Rey left for the military and it all went down hill from there. I really wish the food was like it use to be.

Great authentic Cuban food. I love coming to this place. Growing up in miami and used real Cuban food. I enjoy this place. It’s small place, but Rey’s is a true Cuban American who always treats you with great hospitality. And if it’s not on the menu he most likely can whip it up the way you like. Our family loves the ham croquettes, Maduros. He has pastelitos and much more. Great alternative to eating out and we love coming here on a regular basis.

Cuban sandwich, beans and rice, empanadas and a guava turnover. Yum! — Okay, first things first, the food… OMG!!! Amazing Cuban food! Perfect seasoning, variety, fresh, cooked to order and ample serving. Pricing was right on the money. The restaurant is small with few tables,(but so what) the staff was friendly and we will go back there over and over now that we found it. Finally, staff needs to pay closer attention to customers arriving. We stood at the front counter(as did others) for a very long time, even ringing the bell, before anyone came out to wait on us. They also had cartoons blarring on the tv in the area where we ate which was very annoying while we tried to eat. Customers were commenting about it all over. Regardless, food alone will bring us back to Rey’s.

Thought the food here was pretty darn good. However it seems like it’s a touch bit pricey for what I get. So I’m torn a little. I can’t complain at all about the quality of the food or the service. And the owner has an excellent storyline and seems like a great guy. Maybe a lunch special would help to get me enthusiastic about Rey’s

I agree with David V’s review. The old Rey’s was definitely better. The owner is a bit of a local hero, so I don’t want to trash his place. If you want a cuban sandwich or an empanada this is the best place in the area. But the churrasco is not the same. So good place, but just not as good as it was…

Been here twice, once on my first visit to Grayson and now that I am living here we enjoyed it the other night. Both times service and food was good, a great thing to find out here far away from the city(only thing better I have found is popi’s in downtown) I have had the cuban sandwich, flank steak, grilled chicken and various sides. All of them have been good, service always friendly, always fast and always with a smile. My mother raves about the flank steak and while I am not a fan of flank steak I gave it a try and it was good. Cuban sandwich was very good, a little lite on the mustard and the bread was not great(we lived in south florida so cuban bread is hard to impress us with) but I would still recommend the sandwich. Black beans are homemade and they show, also if they have Red beans order them as they are great. Good to see a local person making sure we all have a different taste out here, thank you Rey for your service to our country and your service to my belly, people be sure to stop by Reys and enjoy a fast meal, or take it slow and relax either way Reys is a winner.

So far I can’t say anything bad about Rey’s Cuban Café. The owner(Rey) is very helpful and friendly and the foods I have had are freshly prepared and very tasty; one of the best tasting Cuban sandwiches I have had too! I’ll keep coming back and am glad that they are nearby to my home.

This place isn’t what it used to be. When it was Rey’s Cuban grill it was a lot better and I would brag about how good it was. The Mariquita’s were premade so they were soggy. The food was good but it just isn’t the same. It was nice to have Cuban people there at the old place. Now the workers struggle to pronounce the names of the dishes. The place has lost some authenticity. But again the food was alright except for the Mariquitas.

I’ve not often had occasion to enjoy Cuban cuisine. Years ago it did not impress me as a style that tempted further exploration. My first taste was in a Virginia Highland restaurant where I tried my first Cuban sandwich. The downsides for me were a) the dill pickle permeated the sandwich to the point it had no other discernible flavor and b) every single item on the menu included black beans and rice.(I’ve since overcome my aversion to black beans and rice.) The upside was that one of the people I dined with ordered the fish. That’s an upside? Absolutely! It was served with head and tail intact and propped up vertically on the plate, hot out of the oven. Surrounded by black beans and rice. It was certainly memorable, that fish staring at me while I picked and nibbled at my pickle sandwich. But now my tastes have evolved a bit, and I no longer shy away from black beans(in fact, I have several favorite recipes in which they are an ingredient), and I’ve had Rey’s Cuban Café on my «reydar» for awhile. The wife and I chose to lunch there as a way of adding adventure to our day off together last week during my furlough. Rey’s is a tiny drive-thru behind the BP station at Hwy 78 and Rosebud Road. You can eat in(there are three or four tables available, and plans for picnic tables out front) but it’s set up primarily for takeout — right down to the plastic picnicware. Reynaldo was excited to learn that it was our first visit and quickly recommended and explained the items on the menu. His enthusiasm was contagious, and probably influenced our delight in the food. We ordered the Empanadas de Carne appetizers, which I very much enjoyed. Carol picked at some of the pastry, although she won’t eat red meat. They were very tasty, and I’ll likely stop by in the future just for an empanadas snack. Carol ordered — with trepidation — the Elena Ruz sandwich(turkey, cream cheese and strawberry jam? really?) and Yucca Fritas while I opted for the Picadillo sandwich with black beans and rice. We sampled each other’s plates to get a good overall idea of what we had and what we liked. Everything was as advertised — delicious and unusual. Even the fried yucca was good; we were warned that it was an unexciting side veggie similar to steak fries, and that was true but it was still tasty. At least it wasn’t yucky yucca.(It had to be said. Sorry.) Rey explained that yucca(YOO-kuh) is a root, traditionally boiled, served with garlic and olive oil. He offered to cook some up anytime we like if we call at least 45 minutes ahead. Carol took him up on his offer the following day, and found it delicious prepared that way as well. The Picadillo sandwich, for all of its wonderful flavor, was, toward the end, saltier than I like. I can’t decide if the olives had anything to do with that; probably so. I washed it down with half of Carol’s Materva Yerba Mate tea/soda and the Jarrito Mango soda I chose. I enjoy trying imported beverages — even those that don’t require fermentation. Next visit, excepting a trip for an empanada snack, maybe I’ll try a classic Cuban sandwich. Rey claims it’s the most authentic in the Atlanta area. Or maybe I’ll opt for the Lechon Asado, if I’m flush with cash and it’s available that day — marinated Cuban style pork leg is a mouth-watering temptation. There are two menus that can be found online, but the meals actually available at the restaurant seem to be a mix of the two. The newer website for Rey’s Cuban Café is still under construction, but the menu from the defunct Rey’s Cuban Grill(which was at a different Loganville location) is still available. They’re both on Facebook, too, as is Rey himself. He’ll likely be thrilled to chat with you whether you’re a Cuban-food newbie or a long-time aficionado.
