Great sandwiches here with good fresh fries. I live how much cheese and sauce they put on your sandwich. The staff is super friendly and the quality is consistent. Definitely recommend Penn Station to everyone.

YUM! We had the Italian and the chicken parm and both were amazing. Their fries were also pretty much perfection. The best part though was the huge chocolate chip cookie… holy mother.

Doesn’t get any better for a sub place. The Italian is to die for. The Philly is also respectable. Highly recommended.

Not the best subs, not even close. First time here so I asked for a suggestion. I was steered to the Philly Cheese Steak. I thought the sauce combination was weird and unnecessary. Just ok. Fries were so so, not close to the gold standard(which if you read my reviews remains Ricobenes). I must say it was pretty crowded. But for me too many other really good sub shops to go here again.

Great Philly Cheese Steak! Freshly squeezed lemonade was to die for as well. Kind of pricey but worth every penny, or in this case, dollar.

It has taken me a long time to come to this restaurant. I guess it is because sub sandwiches are not my first or even 2nd choice for fast food. I should have come her many months ago. I had the special which was the chicken cordon bleu, small fries, medium size drink and chocolate chip cookie. Here’s what impressed me: 1) The chicken for the chicken cordon bleu was cooked fresh for my order. 2) The bun is soft and not too big so it is not like you are eating just a loaf of bread. 3)The employees were very nice. 4) Restaurant was clean, even after the lunch time rush, when we came in. 5) Tuna salad is on the sweet side. I liked that but my husband did not particularly care for it being that sweet. 6) Fries are great. They must be freshly hand cut. I will return for some more good food. There are lots of sandwiches that look good.

Best toasted sandwiches… PERIOD. The Lombard location was one of the first ones to enter the Chicagoland area. In my observation, it didn’t start off as efficient as some of the more established locations in Indiana and other neighboring states, it’s caught up over the last year. The food is consistent and meats are cooked to the right level. I can’t say enough about my love for Penn Station sandwiches. They are everything a sandwich shop should be. The meats are sliced on demand, the potatoes are hand cut and fresh fried, the lemonade is fresh squeezed(using real lemons), and all of this is done in the store itself. The buttery bread, which is possibly the star of the sandwich, is baked in house(although the dough comes in frozen from a central kitchen). My favorite sandwich is the Italian, followed by the Philly cheesesteak, and then the chicken teriyaki. The italian has pepperoni, salami, ham, and melted provolone with some banana peppers, oil and vinegar, and italian seasoning drizzled on top(I like to add a touch of mayo on my Italian). To say it’s possibly the best tasting Italian sandwich in America is not an overstatement. That can be legitimately argued by many… The Philly cheesesteak is definitely their biggest seller, and there’s good reason why. The meat is extremely well seasoned and grilled fresh right in front of you, the cheese is melted beautifully on top, the grilled onions and mushrooms are a great topping to finish it off(I like to put mayo on my philly). Yummm The Chicken teriyaki is juicy and packed with flavor(although some will find it a bit salty). The chicken is grilled fresh and then generously sizzled in teriyaki sauce and grilled onions and mushrooms. He provolone they melt on top adds a bit of creaminess. This one’s a crowd pleaser, and a go-to if you’re staying ways from red meat. I am a lifelong fan and will continue to patronize Penn Station forever. So glad they have arrived in the Chicagoland area over the last year or so…

This is a great place to grab a cheap, hot & hearty sandwich if you’re on the go. On a scale of 1 – 10, subway being a 1, jimmy john’s a 7, I would put Penn Station at 10. Chicken cordon bleu sub: 5⁄5 French fries: 4⁄5 Fresh squeezed lemonade: 4⁄5 Customer service: 6⁄5 …And they’re fairly quick. Came here because of a «Welcome to the Neighborhood» sort of coupon, so I got my sandwich for free. I was delighted to find out that I love this place and am excited to try their other subs. Even when I reheated my leftover sub, it was still good. Check out Penn Station subs if you’re looking for a fast food upgrade.

One of my favorite places for a sammich. Fresh, tasty and the Philly Cheese Steak is truly great. Their cookies are amazing as well… I actually crave them. My only gripe: I WISH they had a drive thru. I’d have Penn Station every single day if they had a drive thru.

As a PA transplant this place used to be my go-to. It’s a decent imitation of a Philly cheesesteak. Bread doesn’t cut it, and the steak itself isn’t the best, but when I was desperate it could do the job. If you look hard enough there at some more authentic places around. Fries are good. Overall decent, just not great.

One of my favorite places to eat in Downer Groves. They have the best Philly Cheese steak and french fries. They also have fresh squeezed lemonade, which I highly recommend. Once in a while, they have a buy one get one free deal. All you have to do is go on their website and print out the coupon.

This is one of the places my classmates and I frequent for a quick cheap meal. It is similar to Jimmy John’s and Subway’s but I think it is cheaper. Keep an eye out for the BOGO free coupons, those are great ways to save money! I really like their philly cheesesteak sub. I tried the sausage sub once and it was okay, I wouldn’t get it again because the philly cheesesteak is way better. The service is super fast, you’ll get your food shortly after you order. Great place to go to if you only have an hour for lunch.

The Philly Cheesesteak was amazing! Sandwiches are toasted open face and served warm. The French fries made from fresh potatoes cut with skin still on and only made when ordered.

The food is delicious! The staff is very friendly also. I’ve watched them make my food a few times and I’m happy to say, they washed their hands after doing everything. On one of my visits, I ordered my food & realized I left my debit card at the office.(so I thought). The guy told me I could just take the food and come back later and pay. I went to check my car to see if I dropped it in there & I did so I paid at that moment but I really appreciated that though. Oh and if you sign up for their mailing list, you get a coupon for a free 6″ sub!

Oh did I ever enjoy the sandwich I got from Penn Station. But the service left a little to be desired. I stepped into line about noon last Thursday. After repeating my order to the gentleman who took it twice, he still had it wrong when I read my receipt. I believe this is what caused my order to take nearly a half hour to complete. I fear they may have made it incorrectly and then redid it. As I waited for my order I watched this happen to several other orders, often having the results tossed in a nearby trashcan. I was a bit concerned(due to allergy issues) when the young man making sandwiches put onions atop one person’s sandwich and then immediately scraped them into the trash. The wait, however, was worth it because after one bite of my sensational reuben, I knew I was in sandwich heaven. I just hope they can improve production and accuracy.

Penn Station is such a great spot for hot subs. They do have some cold subs but hot subs are their specialty so I highly recommend to try one of them. They have good fries as well. Also, freshly made lemonade. Malt vinegar for the fries. They have 4 sizes of subs which is nice. You can go to town with the footlong or get something a little smaller. There are a variety of toppings as well as recommended toppings. That’s always a plus, since I’m not always sure how to dress certain subs. But you can add anything although you may be charged for some of the items. The ordering process is a little different in that you order up front and then pay after you traverse the food line. It kinda helps since your sub starts getting made/cooked right away since the ordering line will probably go faster than the pay line. Good stuff, it’s always on the list of potential lunch spots.

I have been going to the bolingbrook location recently after a friend suggested i try this place. I love their sandwiches, lemonade, and cookies. Everyone i know has enjoyed anything they’ve ordered from Penn station. We did not know of this location. After leaving Oakbrook mall, we were trying to find a place to eat and spotted this location out of the corner of our eye. Although its a small plaza, there is ample parking. The store was very clean and the staff was super polite. This time my husband and i ordered the Artichoke and mushroom sandwich as we usually do, and the large fries to share. The sandwiches came out open faced and cut, which i thoroughly enjoyed. The prices are fair and the menu is identical to all other locations. I most definitely recommend Penn Station if you pass one by!

Before describing my amazing experience here, I just want to make it clear that I am definitely not the steak kinda gal. When it comes to sandwiches, I ALWAYS stick with chicken or turkey. This, however, has changed everything. At first, I was a little skeptical about the whole pizza sauce thing. i really didn’t understand the need for it. But OMG, it was the perfect thing for me to get as a first timer. I have no idea how they came up with this combination, but god bless them for doing so. The meat was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. It had the perfect amount of cheese, and the bread was nice and fresh. The sauce seriously gives it the perfect tangy touch. Their fries were certainly nothing short of amazing as well. I decided to get a small order since the sandwich is fairly large. I instantly wished I’d gotten more after my first bite. There’s no doubt that they are fresh and seasoned perfectly. Best meal I’ve had in a long time!

Frankly, I was sold on the fries. They made them fresh, starting with cutting them in the first place. They were demolished by the time I got home to my apartment. Then, the sandwich. I got a 6″ turkey & swiss w/honey mustard and veggies. Toasted, amazing. If you sign up for their emails, you can get a coupon for a free 6″ sandwich. The food is fantastic. The service is quick and all the associates were friendly(but not over the top). As in they were friendly, but they were truly friendly and not being fake about it. I will definitely return. I can’t really see a downside to Penn Station.

While a lot of my friends and family have always been into fast food burgers, I’ve always been the girl hanging out at the sandwich shop. I think it says a lot about me — that I’m not scared to go against the crowd and do my own thing or maybe it psychologically says absolutely nothing about me other than the fact that I like my protein and veggies between two pieces of bread. Either way, I live to find new sandwich shops around work, so I was glad when my husband(Michael C.) found this place without me a few weeks ago. He hyped it up quite a bit so I knew it would only be a matter of time before we checked it out. Even though the Reuben and Philly Cheese are the most raved about, I decided to go against the crowd once again and go for the Chicken Teriyaki. I don’t really know WHY I ordered that, as I’m more of a roast beef kinda girl, but I figured I’d try something new. Their sandwiches are the toasted kind, which always makes everything taste better. I really liked the sauce they put on there and the add-on sauteed mushrooms and onions were a perfect combination to the moist deliciousness that was the chicken. The only thing I thought was that it could use some lettuce to up the flavor and textures. If I ever ordered it again, I would ask for them to throw some lettuce on after the toasting process. This time around, he ordered the chicken cordon bleu, which is another fave of mine at most sandwich shops. Sadly, the chicken was just some grilled chicken with no seasoning or flavor on it. The sandwich did have mustard, but I thought it would have been nice to have some flavor on the meat. The sandwich wasn’t bad per se, but it was underwhelming. We ordered a large fry and it turns out it’s a bucket of fries. ENTIRELY way too much food for the two of us, considering I usually nibble at three fries and am done. The malt vinegar that was mentioned in a tip for this place was spot on. I’ve never tried my fries like that but I was impressed and will definitely reach for a bottle next time too. I can firmly say that this place is ‘pretty good’ for me at the moment and will be heavily on my lunch/sandwich rotation.
