Despite the other lukewarm reviews; I would highly recommend. I have been there twice for a late lunch and received the AYCE lunch deal even though I stayed until late in happy hour. My experience with the wait staff was that they were pleasant and kept the food coming. Miso soup is good and they allowed me to order two bowls at a time. Includes nigiri, so not just a lot of rice-filled rolls. Not the best sushi that I have had, but very good, especially for the price.

I see many complaints about the poor service and I think I now know why it sucks so hard. You see the cheapskate owners of said establishment only pay their servers $ 9/hr and they keep the tips for themselves. I recommend going there and not tipping. If I was a server at this place I wouldn’t care about being prompt either. You’re paid the same whether you do a good job or not.

Love love love the all you can eat sushi! It is an amazing value because it includes unlimited appetizers„ soups, & sides. The Udon noodle soup is a reason to live! On the all-you-can-eat menu includes the appitizers: potstickers, tempura vegetables, edamame, BBQ Beef, miso soup, crab rangoon and much much more. Then on to the sushi, which always tastes fresh. This is also included in the unlimited menu. There are dozens of roles to choose from, as well as the individual pieces. They have an excellent selection of Japanese beers, however the wine list could be improved. But that’s okay because dinner with everything included is definitely worth the value! I have a specific food allergy that they always attend to, and I know that they are very respectful. The wait staff is super friendly, and very attentive. Mike is our favorite server. We have been going there for many years and are part of their Loyalty Rewards program, as well as the email rewards program. A+++++

For $ 20.99; they selection of appetizers, nigri and sushi is really good. It’s not top of the chain sushi quality but darn good. Service we had was great! Left a nice tip.

I’m a tough grader… overall, a good option for sushi in Lombard if you don’t want to spend a lot on sushi. Started with Great, fast, friendly service. Amazing, hot green tea. Had the AYCE lunch option which was very well priced around $ 15.00. The fish was fresh. My only complaint is not a lot of variety of sushi rolls on the AYCE menu, but it was lunch time. ,

Tried Sakura for the first time today and was very pleased. I have seen the AYCE sign as I drove past for years and just never made it in. The restaurant is somewhat small, but tastefully decorated and clean. The staff was very friendly and attentive to our requests. I ordered the AYCE sushi(Happy Hour is ~$ 18) and definitely took advantage of the deal. The staff had no problem and continually asked if I wanted to order anything else. My wife got a couple rolls a la carte and my daughter(20 months) got the chicken katsu with fried rice(great for a kids meal!). Everything was very good. Is it the best sushi I’ve ever had? No, but it also costs a lot less and was still delicious. I will definitely be going here regularly!

Let me start by saying«Don’t advertise all you can eat sushi, if you pre-judge and assume your customer can’t eat it» Absolute worst customer service by our waitress because one day me, my wife, and my baby daughter were really hungry. We decide to stop by here for the all you can eat sushi buffet. So as we mark all our selections and give her the order she gives us this disgusting look like are you really going to eat all of that. Then she proceeds to say«are you sure your going to eat all of it?» …we said yes we are really hungry… so when she comes back out she brings us the plate with the sushi and tells us here is your full order… which mind you didn’t seem like our full order. But I didn’t question her yet. So when we finished that plate… I told my wife we should get some more since we both were still hungry, so as we ask our waitress for the menu again and instead of bringing us back a menu she brings back more sushi… I was like thinking to myself like wtf I didn’t order yet then I said«what is this… she tells us this was the rest of our sushi order and that they didnt want to give us all of it at once until we finished what we had in front of us… I was fuming! Horrible service and lost my future business… Btw sushi buffet typical of what you would expect so just do yourself the favor and find another place to eat

Disgusting… We decided to try a new sushi restaurant. This place from start to finish was far less than mediocre. We walked through the 1st door and there was an odor. Perhaps water damage or mold. After entering the 2nd door you are greeted by the woman’s bathroom door. Upon entering the moldy smell dissipated and we were seated. We ordered 5 different rolls, chicken fried rice, tea and water with lime. The water came with lemon(not a huge deal) and the tea was very bland and had an awful aftertaste. We were told that they did not carry chicken fried rice, only vegetable fried rice but could add the chicken for $ 1.00(???). The rolls started arriving. Each roll that came out was mushy and lacking flavor. They have really cheap chopsticks that are a bit challenging to eat with. In fact all 4 pairs at our table didn’t break right. The 4 of us eat sushi regularly with chopsticks. Even seasoned users, we had a bit of trouble. Back to the food… the rolls were just disgusting. They were not rolled tight, the rice was mushy, and the fish was fishy. We couldn’t even eat the last Dragon Crunch Roll. We left it. the chicken fried rice was also very mushy. I have never eaten mushy rice at a Japanese restaurant. That blew my mind. I do not know how this place remains open. The four of did not feel well the rest of the day. All four of us had sour stomachs the remainder of the day. The reflux taste of their fish stayed with us. I think the health department should take a good look at this establishment.

Worst sushi I’ve ever had. Terrible fish. Would vote 0 stars if possible. Only decent thing was edamame which is impossible to screw up. Ate 3 orders of edamame just to make up for paying 20 dollars for trash.

My friend and I come here regularly for the AYCE Lunch. We usually each get a bowl of Miso Soup, split an order of Bulgogi, and then order about 4 – 6 rolls. Our favorites have been Yummy Yummy Roll(Chef’s Special), Sakura Crunch Roll, Spider Crunch Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, and Shrimp Tempura Crunch Roll. We’re also fans of the Philadelphia Roll. I like the Salmon Skin Roll more than she does, but she prefers the California Roll and I don’t. We both agree the Negi Hamachi Roll is not that great, nor is the Chicken Teriyaki Roll. Service is good and they are always encouraging us to order more, but we simply cannot continue after our initial large order. We go back to the office stuffed and satisfied. This is not the best sushi place, but it will do in a pinch. If you’re willing to travel a bit to Bloomingdale, most of my friends and I agree that Abashiri is so far the best AYCE sushi(and sushi in general) out this way. But if you need to keep local to Lombard, you should give this place a try.

So sad, and I’m so irritated because I really wanted sushi. I got a small miso soup, Gyoza, a candy dragon roll, and a shrimp tempura roll. Soup– the only decent thing out of this food. It wasn’t overly salty and was prepared decently. Edible so 5 stars for this. Gyoza — dripping in oil & flavorless. Candy dragon roll — soggy, slimy, and covered in «unagi sauce» — this is NOT unagi sauce. It’s brown sugar water. Unagi sauce is thick and syrupy and awesome. This crap was horrible. They also threw both rolls into a styrofoam takeout container together and they swirled and mushed. Shrimp tempura roll — again covered in gross brown sugar water, overly cooked shrimp, soggy tempura. All in all — don’t go here if you want good sushi. I really wanted to like it as they are so close by.

I’ve been here so many times. I am surprised I have not written a review yet! Until a few months ago this was our favorite place! Starting like 2 – 3 months ago their sushi has gone down hill! Today all of the sushi was warm and had a funny/bad taste. My stomach already hurts from the fish today. The new sushi chef changed a few rolls, the rice doesn’t stay together now. He also read the amount of sushi we wanted wrong so we ordered 2, and got 6. To top it off, service suckssssssss! I’m hoping this gets better because we use to love it. But we will be going else where for a while!!!

I really like Sakura. I am a fan of their $ 19.99 all you can eat sushi for dinner. I think it is $ 14.99 for lunch and 10% off during happy hour(2 – 5 pm). The selection on the AYCE menu is good unlike other restaurants that offer a limited menu. They also normally have inexpensive wine and sake specials. This place has a rather small dining room. If you see about 10 cars in the parking lot, there may be no available tables. The service is friendly but at times it can be slow. Slow isn’t bad… it just means don’t come if you are in a hurry.

A group of coworkers and I hit this place up for lunch once a week for infinite sushi. For only $ 14.99 it’s a hell of a deal and the sushi is quite good. We usually eat nearly 25 rolls per visit but the cooks and servers are very cool about it. I will definitely continue to eat here!

I pas this place every day on my way to and from work and finally stopped in for lunch one day with a coworker/fellow Unilocaler. Their lunch specials are pretty amazing, for the price of one specialty roll at the grocery store you can pick two rolls and get miso soup, and the options include some special rolls($ 7.95 for pick 2, 10.95 for pick 3). For a quick, light lunch, this place really can’t be beat. And if you want a heavier lunch you can always go for the All you can eat Lunch special which is a mere $ 14.99 The place is a little small so I wouldn’t recommend coming with a big group, but the food is good, fast, and cheap! Not something you usually associate with Sushi. The place was also very clean and had a nice ambiance to it for lunch anyway.

This is my first time being here and I am very impressed the sushi rolls are very fresh! I have eaten very expensive sushi and this is the place you want to go if you don’t want to spend so much. It’s only $ 20 for all you can eat. You cannot beat that! The customer service is outstanding! I will be coming back.

Sakura is where I go for a sushi fix on a budget. I’ve eaten very expensive sushi, but sometimes I just feel like being cheap… You simply can’t beat the $ 20 all you can eat sushi including a TON of non sushi options which is great for children too. You order off the all you can eat menu which includes fried rice, chicken or beef on a stick, dumplings, edamame, soups, tempura fried vegetables, calamari… the list goes on and these options are pretty darn tasty. They offer a few varieties of Japanese beer too, which I happen to like. As well as sake and a few wines. Never had ‘bad’ sushi here, its fresh, maybe not upscale quality but its $ 20 all you can eat for you sushi lovers and I can eat a lot of sushi… they have different specialty rolls on various nights which is a nice change of pace. I usually order the Tekka, Spider, Hamachi, Dynamite and Spicy tuna rolls. Love going here with a group so you can taste lots of different rolls. Some nights I’ve enjoyed the sushi more than other nights, but its decent and fresh. Its never been overly crowded when I’ve eaten here, service is always good and the dining area is fine. It’s not a hole in the wall… and I’ve been to hole in the walls… it’s sushi at a bargain which is why people keep coming back here!

For $ 15 a person for AYCE sushi, this is quite the deal. My husband’s buddy is a bodybuilder, but when he has a cheat day, he visits Sakura. We joined him for a recent visit and he honestly left me speechless. Actually he’s a great person to go with because if I want to try something, but I’m scared to commit… it’s okay. He’s probably already tried it and will finish it if I don’t. My husband, son and our buddy ate sushi. I ordered off the menu. The sushi looked very nice, but not every single roll fell into the favorite category. They had special rolls too that were included, but some of them seemed a little strange. Maybe a few too many ingredients. Most of the rolls were thoroughly enjoyed around the table. They ate every single bit they ordered, so I don’t know how it works exactly if you can’t eat it all. I went with a shrimp and scallop teriyaki dish. The shrimp were wimpy. The scallops were even smaller and didn’t taste like anything. It was served on a bed of shredded lettuce. It just didn’t look pretty. We tried the tempura fried ice cream. It was different. Not really good or bad. Just kinda different. We will probably go back. I will get on the sushi train for my next visit. This sushi stop is not at the top of my list, but everyone I eat with liked it so it’s still on the list.
