This was our favorite place of the day. We went there because we are«how I met your mother» fans and we just had to go and save the Arcadian! Any ways the wine was amazing and we were able to try things not on the tasting list. I don’t think we had a wine we did not like. The woman who worked there was very knowledgable and had a wonderful sense of humor. We loved this place and cannot wait to go back. :)

you know? A for effort. this review is for the tasting room, not for the wine(though my rating for arcadian wine wavers between 4 to 5 stars, if that’s even an accurate way to rate STELLAR wines). A for effort because the man doing our tasting was obviously having a rough day, after having had an awesome night, if you know what i mean. i will definitely be back though. tastings(6 of them, 3 arcadian, 3 bratcher) sets you back $ 12, but you get that waived if you buy two bottles. i will be back!

Arcadian’s wines are truly special. If you’re looking for Old World style Pinot Noir, Syrah or Chardonnay, you need to give them a try. On a recent Lompoc trip, we quite literally walked in to Arcadian on a whim, as it wasn’t one of the tasting rooms we hand planned on trying. Man where we grateful! We were served older wines, very smooth, very well crafted. Lisa, the Tasting Room Manager, was very knowledgeable and uncompromising on the wines. She poured us the best wines we had the entire weekend. ABSOLUTELYRECOMMEND stopping in and giving them a try, you won’t be disappointed! And, No, it wasn’t our first stop. but it was definitely our last one! We didn’t leave the tasting room the rest of the day and if we had stayed another day, we would have been back for more! PS – Ask Lisa to show you the«panty dropper» — you’ll want it, I promise!

«We shed as we pick up, like travellers who must carry everything in their arms, and what we let fall will be picked up by those behind. The procession is very long and life is very short. We die on the march. But there is nothing outside the march so nothing can be lost to it. The missing plays of Sophocles will turn up piece by piece, or be written again in another language. Ancient cures for diseases will reveal themselves once more. Mathematical discoveries glimpsed and lost to view will have their time again. You do not suppose, my lady, that if all of Archimedes had been hiding in the great library of Alexandria, we would be at a loss for a corkscrew?» Tom Stoppard, Arcadia Sidney Gets Caught Up On Winery Reviews Part II A recent visit to Santa Barbara Wine Country brought me back to Arcadian Winery, this time the tasting room at the Lompoc Wine Ghetto. Previously I had been to the winery twice, once in Santa Maria then at newer winery in the Santa Rita Hills area. Both times thanks to my friend Eric I had tasted with the owner Joe Davis and what amazing experiences those were. I was curious to see how the tasting room would compare but I needn’t have bothered to be concerned. His staff was just as much fun and like Joe, the just poured and poured and poured. We had everything imaginable and once again I am blown away by the quality here and the longevity of the wines. The Pinots and Syrahs from the early 2000’s are outstanding and I bought a bunch of half bottles of the 2005 Sleepy Hollow Chardonnay and that wine may outlast us all. If we did a ranking like the French did, Arcadian would easily be a second growth with wines that often surpass the first growths. A must stop when you are in the area.

Awesome buttery chardonnays. I was blown away by the flavor. I did not really care for the reds though. Very friendly service. The gentleman pouring the wine took a lot of time to show us areas on the maps, gave us tips for future wine trips and was just really nice. Definitely worth checking out if you are visiting the wine ghetto and love chardonnays.

One of the best wineries in the world. Great old world style Pinot Noir. Balanced fruit and acid made to age for decades.

What Fantastic time I had at the Ghetto Today– If anyone told me a few years ago that Lompoc would be the home to some of the best and most exciting vineyards on the Central Coast; I would have never believed them! I Visited Arcadian Vineyard for the 1st time and started off with a 2005 Chardonnay– Yes, you heard me right a 2005 Chardonnay! Words can’t describe how amazing it was; you have to come here and taste it to believe how incredible it still is after almost 8 years. Please say Hi to Lisa Matzie, when you do-She is a fabulous Tasting Room Manager. Tell her Kat Casarez sent you; I graduated High school with her older brother…

Definitely the place to go for more Old World style Pinot Noirs, Syrahs, and Chardonnays, and my favorite wines in the Ghetto. People who prefer more fruit forward, higher-alcohol wines might be better served with other tasting rooms — perhaps Zotovich and Fiddlehead. However, if you like earthy, lighter Pinots and buttery, complex Chardonnays, Arcadian is probably the place for you. My only complaint is that the wine bottles, themselves, are pretty pricey. The tasting is pretty reasonable.

Excellent Old World-style wine. They focus on Pinots, Chardonnays, and Syrah’s. The winemaker, we were told, is known to pick the grapes as soon as they are ripe to keep the alcohol levels as low as possible. In other tasting rooms, we were told that the winery is known for inoculating with brettomyces, which adds a funky quality. However, many are put off by the flavors that brett gives off, like often happens with blue cheese. I personally found almost all of the wines we tasted(which was like 10) absolutely delicious. Of course, I am biased becuase my favorite wines are Burgundian Pinots and Chardonnays and Northern Rhone Syrah’s. So I can safely say that I share the palate of the winemaker. My favorite winery out of the ones i visited in the Lompoc Wine Ghetto.

Yes! If you’re a Rhone nut you have to stop. There is a barn yard quality in these wines that I haven’t experienced since Crozes-Hermitage. Very interesting indeed not for those looking for«pretty» or simple sippers.
