Worst family birthday breakfast ever! Food was good excellent but the HUGE cockroach crawling up the wall behind us was gross… kid’s had just received food I informed the waitress that maybe she should tell owner she was real apologetic so I felt bad causing a scene whn the «roach» came bak so I called her over she helped us move n as soon as we were in the clear he came back now coming towards a big picture my husband was sitting infrnt of so we all slid over so he could at least try to enjoy b-​day breakfast w/​o worrying if it’s crawling on his back. Eeew. Then the bill comes n she totally charged us full price for eating w their pet! I totally expected them to be a lil more grateful we just didn’t walk out screaming n yelling the whole time about the big roach that was out n about… I itch just thinking about it!.. stay away from here!!!

I had the most disgusting experience here. Came in with my 2 kids to have breakfast. Our food came to the table & I was taking a scoop of the butter & as I’m doing this there is a huge cockroach IN THE BUTTER. I show our server this & she says «oh I’m sorry about that, let me get you a new butter» as if that problem happens often. I was so grossed out and disgusted I just walked out of the restaurant. I will never come back to this place. I don’t know how it isn’t shut down yet. Gross.

People may be confused about what to expect from a traditional American diner. I come here often for a fair price on bacon, eggs and coffee. Friendly and uncrowded, I can read my book and enjoy breakfast any time of day. Friendly, attentive and accommodating staff. Please don’t bother writing a review of your «culinarily» experience at Budget because you’re missing the point.

We stopped in for breakfast one morning, there was a short wait and we assumed that it must be because the food and service would be very good. NOT! Our waitress was fine, as accommodating as possible, however as we sat was noticed that the other two waitresses areas were seating and serving patrons while we sat for over an hour waiting for a simple breakfast! Apparently there’s favoritism to certain waitresses as their customers were served before all of us in our section! This is appalling… what happened to filling tickets as they come in, not putting later ticket orders in front of others??? Whoever the manager is, they should be fired… you do not belong in food service. You allow waitresses to push their tickets through at the expense of more than a dozen other patrons who were waiting, looking around to see if anyone else was served and watching the rest of the place gradually empty out before our food was served!
Don’t bother eating here, in addition to poor kitchen management, the food is definitely sub-​par. My eggs were over cooked, my husband ordered a soft drink which turned out to be syrup water. So, he asked for another and it was the same. Your staff does not know how to mix the sodas… try training them!

I had plastic, not a little plastic, but a huge piece of plastic in my eggs. The waitress left us after stating «thats weird» and never returning to our table. They did not discount the meal or apologize. Never going again. Worst place.

Had breakfast on Sunday November 8, 2015. This was our second trip, not sure if we will go back. It was pretty busy so we expected to wait a little for our food. The coffee served to my husband was not very hot and the cup was not clean. We waited well over 45 minutes for our almost cold food, the waitress offered to have it heated up… didn’t have the time to wait. She did not offer to adjust the bill as should have been done. The men’s restroom was gross to say the least. Deserved one star but I hate to do that. The server was really sweet.

Worst service I have ever had. Our server was extremely rude and unprofessional! We waited a good 5 – 10 minutes just to get our drinks and then waited another 45 minutes for our food! Only 3 of the 4 of us got our food. We had to ask our server about 10 minutes later where my boyfriends food was. When she brought it 5 minutes later (which she never apologized for) it was cold. As we were about to leave she then brought our fruit cup and basically threw it on the table and walked away. When we got up to leave, we waited in the front for our check (which she clearly saw us) and kept walking back and fourth as another server watched and laughed. She then handed another waitress our checks to give to us. Never even apologized for any of her service! Hands down the worst waitress I have ever had. We will never go back

The breakfast burrito with chorizo was nothing special, but still very yummy. Hash browns were excellent, nice and crispy on the outside. My friends pancakes on the other hand were phenomenal. Made me wish I ordered that instead! Service was a little slow but our waitress was super nice.

I love this place. Workers are so sweet. They have really good coffee and fresh pie :)

We would stop here on the way home from a family reunion. Normally we get get good service and food. This time was a mess. No straws or large cups. We had to remind the server of our toast and pancakes. The biscuits were very hard and cold. We still never got the pancakes so she discounted our bill. Sounded like other tables were unhappy too. Over all not happy with our experience. Will probably find a different breakfast location or eat at the hotel.

Well we had eaten here once before and the service and food here was great. This time around the food was just okay and from what I was told the waitresses were new. Items were forgotten from our meal and the meal was very bland. It’s not a bad place, I understand that everyone has to start somewhere and our waitress has to be properly trained which is not her fault because it was painfully obvious she wasn’t trained. It’s a very simple mom and pop style place. Give them a chance, I probably would again.

Very pleased with the service and homey atmosphere. Attentive, pleasant, and professional service! I’ve tried all the places in town for breakfast and this place has won my business mainly because the service is top notch!

The service here was Great!
The coffee was like more like water flavored coffee it was so weak 1 creamer over powered it. The Man who will eat and drink just about anything didn’t finish a full cup of coffee. That’s a major fail!
The country potatoes herd were good. Then things started to slip.
Perhaps it was a an off day but consistency is important!
The omelet was kinda runny.
The Daughter ordered Eggs Benedict and she didn’t even eat most of it as she described the sauce as being so bad she couldn’t quite put her finger on what was wrong with it but she said it was awful. This is her fav dish and orders it everywhere.
The Man was less than impressed with his chorizo as well.
Maybe we ordered the wrong items. But when the coffee is that much a fail… I don’t know. We may give it another try. And order more basic items.

I was thoroughly impressed. We got there about 7:30 and three women was running the show. The Cook, the table busser and the hostess/​greeter/​waitresses. They all worked together to get food out nice and hot but also good.
It’s an old school diner with old school prices. I can dig it. But Ms. Waitress was working hard for her money that I had to leave her a tip for my take out order. She was good very organized efficient in tending to all her customers. I haven’t seen multitasking of that kind since I’ve been off work. ;)

Old-​fashioned diner feel with solid comfort food and good service. I had the chili-​verde omelet special that isn’t even on the regular menu, and it was really good. Normally I would have taken a picture of it, but by the time I reeled my appetite in, there wasn’t enough left except for the empty plate.
I ordered a side of hash browns covered with country gravy that they changed $ 1.99 for. It was also really good, but much more food than even brunch should be — I ate it all anyway.
Full coffee cup all the time and a staff that knows when to check on you and when to leave you alone, like right now as I’m writing this. FIVE STARS all day long! Will I be back? YES, SIR!

Been through Lompoc twice. Ate here both times. I had the Huevos Rancheros with avocado. Super yummy! The salsa is great! The atmosphere is really dated but who cares the waitress was nice, the food was good and the price was right! I will eat there again if I am in town!

Great! Had the chicken fried steak and eggs and it was good. Nice crispy to the chicken, gravy homemade to perfection, and eggs cooked to order. Perfect meal. Wife had the burger and it was good. Fries are steam fries which were big and crispy too. Daughter had grill chesse and she gave it a thumbs up. Serivce was excellent. We will be back.

Decent step above a greasy-​spoon style café. Linguica and eggs, beans. Above average salsa.
I used to go here quite a bit with my Grandfather for a ritual/​tradition breakfast. He absolutely loved this place, swore up and down it was the best in Lompoc. Love ya Gramps, but I disagree. I came to find out years later that his license had been permanently suspended due to his age and my Uncle wouldn’t let him go any farther than a five block radius from his house in the car. Maybe that’s the case with the other five star yes,. FIVE STAR reviews of this slightly above average café.

Not half bad!
We were in town for a wedding and the little town of Lompoc didn’t have much in the way of food so we past this place with a big «JUICY BURGER» sign so I demanded we eat here despite the horrifying name. Budget Café… seriously, it’s like you’re giving a prewarning to expect shitty everything.
Luckily that wasn’t the case. I grew up in a small town and this little place looked just like every other small town café… lots of seating, no frills, specials on the board, a lunch counter and a bunch of grumpy locals. Our waitress had zero social skills but she did her job so that was good enough. I got the avocado burger with no bun and my dude got a bacon cheeseburger. The meat was surprisingly fantastic, perfect chargrilled burger, fresh toppings and decent fries… couldn’t ask for much more, and at $ 5 and some change each, you couldn’t ask for much less either.
