How disappointing. My boyfriend and I stopped here on Friday evening for a bite; our waiter was very young and inexperienced, which could have been forgiven if he’d gotten the food right. An order of turkey vegetable soup came out as chicken barley. The«medium» clams were large and tough. My french onion soup was delicious, but that wasn’t enough to rate a return visit.

Still love this place but had to let people who work there know that the staff on Wednesday night this week is the worst. We went in anticipating a normal above average experience as always. There were 2 cars in the parking lot and only 2 parties in the restaurant. As it is a «seat yourself» establishment, we sat in our usual booth. And we sat, and we sat. A waitress brought the check to another party, looked at us and went off in the other direction. And we sat, and we sat. Same waitress comes back, gets some items from a station, looks at us and walks away. Needless to say, we walked away too. Left the restaurant with no one saying a word to us in the entire 15 minutes we were there. You have the makings of a great place… we love the atmosphere and the food. We hope this was just an off night. Time will tell, but it won’t be another Wednesday night.

Had a hearty breakfast, ordering their café special that includes 3 eggs, Choice of Canadian ham or sausage, French toast or pancakes, choice of home fries, grits and choice of toast. Service was attentive as we dined on a Thursday morning around 10AM. Food was delivered pretty fast. Would return to try their other items on the menu. Easy access from Route 93 N. And large parking area, especially for trucks.

Hit up Poor Boy’s Diner for breakfast one Friday morning. The place was packed when I arrived. I managed to get a seat and looked over the expansive breakfast options. I ordered the biscuits with gravy with two eggs over easy and a cup of coffee. Food came out relatively fast and was hot. The quantity of sausage gravy needed to be more — as two of my biscuits were atop one another — and one of the biscuits ended up with no sausage gravy adorning it. A travesty! Service was good — would definitely eat here again!

One of the families favorite breakfast places, travel 30 mins to go, it that good. The chopped steak and eggs is so good, the house gravy makes it. Loaded home fries are indulgent. Pancakes are huge and delicious. Went once for late lunch and the tumbleweeds are still dreamt about, but never seem to get there at that time of day.

This is my go-to breakfast restaurant. Incredible service and delicious food is provided by the excellent staff. Great prices and value across the menu and would recommend to anyone looking for good food for a good price!

I had a hawaiian omelette. I have never seen that before, and they did it perfectly well. Husband had the vegetable grinder and he loved it too. If you’re doing breakfast go for the home fries. Yum

I used to eat here with my parents when I was in high school and now my own kids love coming here. They order the pancakes and always surprise us by eating the entire meal. It’s the perfect stop right after one of the kids morning game/practice. You can count on quick service and a filling meal every time.

Had a nice breakfast here for our first visit. Lobster omelette for me and meat lovers for hubby. Both were well packed with filling. I didn’t have a food scale on hand(switched to a smaller purse), but they promise a half pound of lobster in the omelette. Don’t think they skimped at all. It is pricey at $ 15.99. And the lobster was fresh. Most omelettes are overloaded with cheese. This one was lacking. I don’t have a problem with that. More room for the crustacean. :) Though the parking lot seemed full, there were open tables when we arrived a little before 9am on a Saturday morning. Service was exceptionally good(thank you Janice and team) and food came out at warp speed. Didn’t clock it, but seemed no more than 10 minutes. Matthew A. is right, the place is chilly, even though we were around the corner from the front entrance, in a large side room. Most staff, except two brave souls, were wearing sweaters or fleece jackets. Didn’t feel heat kick in until we were almost finished. Booth tables are unusually narrow, so if you are sitting directly across from someone you’re often kicking one another when adjusting your feet. Have to keep them tucked. Guess it makes it possible to fit more seating in. There was a large group of men behind us. Decibel level in the room went down noticeably when their food arrived and we could finally hear ourselves speak. LOL Salt and pepper shakers could use a good cleaning.

We came around10 on a Saturday morning and were blown away by the speed of service! We immediately got a seat and were full of food all within 30 minutes. I had the café special it was AMAZING their home fries are out of this world I wanted to lick both of my plates clean but couldn’t finish all of the food! The mimosas were also good and fairly priced! My boyfriend got a jalapeño omelette and was very impressed! We cannot wait to bring our visitors here in the near future! We’ll definitely be back soon!

A small house-sized diner that at first glance did not appear up to the dinner challenge. We were staying nearby and there were some nice reviews on Unilocal. After watching a 3 hour 45 °F Football game with our daughter, we were cold, tired, hungry and grumpy. I ordered the French onion cheeseburger with French onion soup for dipping. Absolutely marvelous! My daughter had pot roast melt that she raved over! Hubby had a nice salad… come here be wowed by the food!

Really good spot for breakfast. I enjoyed the Lobster Benedict with hash browns and an iced coffee. The coffee was pretty spot on, the hash browns tasted good and the Benedict was 5 stars. Generous amount of lobster meat that was flavorful combined with very good hollandaise sauce recipe. I would repeat and might even be tempted to come back for dinner before I leave town. Friendly staff and cozy booths this place is a winner. Overheard the staff chit chatting and appears the same owner has had it for 25 years and his passion for cooking plays a large role in this places success. Good place that I plan to visit again soon.

Great meal. This diner has become our«stop for lunch joint» for the trip between Boston and Vermont. Friendly prompt sevice, food comes out fast and is quite tasty. Love the French dip with tumbleweeds and my husband like the«rachel» sandwich with sweet potato fries. They have their own bottled sodas… a real treat. Nice mom and pop diner feel.

Other than the fact it’s right off the highway and very cheap, the lack of customer service and the ‘blah’-ness of the food, you can find better. I sat at the bar(4 seats), and after 10 minutes of being told that«i’ll be right over» i just got up and go my own menu. Food took about 15 minutes, which I didn’t mind as they were slammed, but the amount of arguing between the staff was amazing. people verbally bashing each other and blaming each other for how busy it was — sorry, but a diner on a Sunday morning is going to be busy.

Always try to stop here when coming back on 93 after a ski weekend. The portions are delicious and plentiful, and has that classic rock/friendly old waitress vibe that puts you at ease. Definitely recommend the mashed potato and the fish, the turkey tops are good too. Tumble weeds… meh. And contrary to a review below. I’ve paid credit card every time I’ve come.

Food is always on point. There is one waitress here that ruins the experience everytime. She always brings the check while we are still eating without asking if we would like anything else. She never checks back in with our table after taking our order. Every time we have her when we are here it is a very frustratinf experience. The other waitresses end up getting our table any drink refills and whatever we need. I feel like she should give her tips to the orher waitresses because theyre the ones that actually do the work. Also, we just asked her to split our check into 3, since there are 3 couples and she told us to write down what we all had on the back of the 1 check. I have never been to a restaurant that has made he customer figure out how to split the bill. This waitress is frustrating and useless.

As the name would suggest, you will only be in love with this place if you truly are a Poor Boy. Those of us with any sense of propriety expect PBD to be exactly what it is: a so-so diner with so-so food and so-so service. I give it 3 stars only because it met my mediocre expectations without exceeding them, but also without coming too far shy of them either. Expectation 1: Open early — it’s a diner, after all. Open nice and early on a Sunday, we rolled in and were seated quickly. Expectation 2: Run-down(a little. Not too much or I start to worry about impending food poisoning). Just shabby enough to be truly diner-iffic, with weird bench seats in the booths that lean back against the wall, so when you sit you feel like you’re way too far away from the table, dumpy wooden chairs, a-little-bit-off-center tables so they wobble just enough to spill your coffee. Nailed it. Expectation 3: Waitresses with attitudes that border JUST this side of professionally acceptable. These ladies could have written the book on appropriate diner waitress behavior. Friendly/sarcastic enough to be amusing, disinterested enough to work in a diner. Service definitely wasn’t BAD, just diner-y. Expectation 4: Cheap $ 57 for 5 breakfasts. BOOM. Expectation 5: Cash only — and this is one of those eye-roll expectations. Like, «UGHHH I know this place is a diner so it’s gunna be cash only» PBD for the win. Takes cards! Although our waitress brought only one of two cards back to the table, and then called across the restaurant to us to say«OH! I STILLGOTYACARD!»(see expectation #3). So – this place is A-OK for a diner. My omelet was actually really tasty. My homefries were deep fried potato squares, more grease than tater, so I didn’t eat much. Toast was good, coffee was good, price was good. Nothing to write home about, but I’d definitely go again on my way up North.

We returned to Poor Boy’s Diner after a few years away. We had Sunday breakfast and everything was just eh. We sat by the door and it was freezing inside from the line waiting to be seated. Everyone was eating with their parkas on. The coffee tasted off. My eggs arrived cold while the meat hot. The home fries were terrible. Cut super small(smaller than corn kernels) and then deep friend and over salted. So we said we were done with this place, as there is so many other options.
