Jake was our carhop!!! Really nice and helpful!!! We had a large order with lots of subs for slushy cheddar peppers. Our order came complete with no mess ups. Almost pasted this Sonic due to bad reviews glad I didn’t. The kids love sonic. We have loads of them down south!!!

Better than my last go-around with Sonic, which was probably 10 – 15 years ago. Food is a step above McDonald’s and the drink and shake varieties are what make it fun. Easy to put away 2 – 3000 calories here and not bat an eye so couple this with a good gym day. Burger was a little dry, onion rings were above the average fast food faire, I liked how I could get vanilla in my Coke Zero, and the soft serve waffle cone was pretty tasty.

I don’t think I’ve ever left a restaurant before my order was successfully placed until today. Whoever was trying to take my order either had no earthly clue what they were doing or was incapable of operating an intercom. I asked if milkshakes came as a drink option with the 2 kids meals I was ordering(under $ 4 apiece) and was told yes. I asked for those and a large soda. When my order total came to over $ 15, I asked how the total had gotten so high. After about two minutes of either silence or «what?», I found out the milkshakes were an additional $ 2-something apiece. Okay– I only wanted one then. The order taker gave me my new total: $ 9-something. «Oh, sorry– what kind of drink did you want with the other meal?» I asked for a chocolate milk, which somehow brought my total back to $ 14-something. What??? I explained that I was frustrated and done with this experience and drove off. I left with two crying kids and no intention of returning.

I had never been to Sonic(shocker!), so we headed here one weekend for me to try it out. The menu layout was a bit overwhelming– things would be suggested to me(e.g., «how does the corn dog sound?» or «how does this flavor milkshake sound»?) and I wouldn’t be able to quickly find it on the menu because things were in all different places. Obviously not a problem if you’ve been to Sonic before, but I was a bit overwhelmed for it being my first time. We ended up ordering tons of food, and it lasted us for multiple meals. You park, order, and pay by card at your parking spot. Then someone brings out the food and your receipt. Our food came out within a few minutes– it was pretty quick. My favorite items were the mozzarella sticks and the real fruit slushie. I would go back for those two items alone! The milkshake was pretty tasty as well, and I’d say their burgers were average, but probably above average for fast food. I also tasted the corn dog, and it was pretty solid. I wanted to try some items from their breakfast menu, and the internet says they serve breakfast all day, but there was no breakfast menu displayed, so we were a bit confused and ended up not ordering anything or asking the server. My only other complaint was that it was hard to hear the person I was ordering from over their system– I had to ask her to repeat things several times. Other than those two issues, I was a fan! If I could add something to my dream wish list, it was that you could order on the board similar to how you would order online– add one item at a time and then submit electronically. I had to write everything down we wanted to order on my phone as we were discussing the menu, and it felt a little silly. Overall, two thumbs up! I get why people love Sonic now. I wish there were locations closer to where I live, but I’ll definitely be back when possible!

It’s Sonic so when you go you know what to expect: burgers, hot dogs, fried food on top of fried food, ice cream, shakes. I personally like Sonic as a fast food option. I think I like the novelty of it, being that there isn’t one in my immediate area(yet, they’re building one). The food is ok, nothing amazing. I prefer the hot dogs to the burgers and the fries aren’t anything special. They do sell tater tots which is unique given that most places don’t. What I really like is that they serve their full breakfast menu all day, that’s something that hardly any other fast food place in this area does. In fact, I can’t even think of one besides them that does. Also, they offer a huge variety of drink options with their slush menu AND half priced shakes and slushed after 8. SCORE! I don’t have super high expectations when it comes to fast food restaurants. As long as the food comes out as I order it and within a reasonable amount of time, the staff is friendly and the place is clean I’m typically ok. If I want a fine dining experience I’ll go somewhere nicer, but for what it is I’m satisfied. I’d recommend sonic to someone looking for a quick, cheap, tasty bite.

Solid. That’s a pretty good summation, I think. You know what you’re getting into with Sonic. It’s drive-in fare(pseudo-fast-food, really), and it’s not what most would call ‘healthy.’ BUT! It is tasty. Sometimes, that trumps everything else. The problem is consistency. I don’t know how, but I have managed to have a myriad of experiences in the few times I’ve been there. Most are in the middle, but there is the occasional forgettable or unforgettable one, as well. Issue: food quality. Sometimes the tots are overly greasy. Sometimes the dogs are swimming in liquid bun. Other times, everything comes out perfectly. It’s a crap shoot, and not something one looks forward to(the guessing game). Still, we don’t have many in Maryland, so we make do with what we have. When they are spot on, the boneless wings are amazing. Same with the hot dogs and burgers. When not on… well… they’re just off. I hope you always have a great experience there, and that becomes your consistency with them. Maybe mine will improve, we’ll see.

Sonic is a great place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I go here with family and friends. The staff is always friendly and nice. Sonic as a company gives a lot to education which is awesome. The food here is delicious and happy hour features half-price drinks.

DONTCOMEHERE! Always check your order! They don’t listen! You ask for a hamburger made a certain way they fix it wrong! They bring you a cheeseburger, charge you for it! What’s the point in asking me what I want if you’re going to fix me whatever you want?! Smh

Although it’s a drive to get here, sometimes you want what you want and you make the drive anyhow. I enjoy the variety at Sonic’s and the vibe. You can walk up and order, use the drive-thru or pull into one of the stalls and enjoy your purchase on site. They have happy hour everyday and even morning and late evening specials. There is an option to sign up for promotions via text too. I haven’t been done wrong yet with their milkshakes and I’m still a fan of the limeades. Each time I’ve come here the customer service is on point and no attitudes. Make sure you tip your carhop for excellent service. There are a few carhops that don rollerblades/skates and give it that back in the day feel. Turning into the area can be a little challenging since it’s on a busy street. When exiting, use the rear exit and turn right and exit near the light to avoid trying to merge into traffic. They pay attention to the customer’s order and you can pay at your stall or you can pay your carhop. Great place to unwind after a hectic day and you can bring the kiddies too.

Either service is horrid or order system was broken. Should be a notification system that confirms button press. They didn’t appear busy but no one asked for order so I left.

Never really had a problem here but this one occasion my BF and I waited over 30 mins on a Sat just to take our orders the Manager came out after I requested to speak with someone and he comped our entire meal and owned up to there’s no excuse for the delay I will continue to come here and I appreciate his concern…

So we stopped by here for 3 desserts… service took about 20 minutes and I ordered a Java Mocha Chiller. Took a drink and Wham-O…pure hot coffee in the bottom. It is as though they completely forgot to mix it up. I gagged… spit it out and repeatedly hit the red button. When I told the little box my problem they seemed annoyed. I know these are just kids working here but a little adult supervision goes a long way. Stopped by here a couple of times and services are just so SLOOOOOOW…

I tried a wide sampling of their menu. Here’s the breakdown: Mozzarella Sticks– They were fried sticks of Mozzarella. Pretty stale ones. I’m being generous. Cheddar Peppers– They taste like butt. Wrong Cheese. Footlong Dog– A 7 – 11 hot dog. Supersonic Breakfast Burrito– Disgusting. Tastes like paper and bread. Why use raw onions? Lime Aid– Pretty Good Actually…

I used to live half a mile away from Sonic back in Austin. It was great and all but I didn’t truly appreciate it as I should have. You know what they say, you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone. This is the truth. It took me a year and a half to find a Sonic in the DC area, but I was SOEXCITED once I did! I always thought it was so cruel that I would see Sonic commercials on TV but I didn’t think there were any locations anywhere near the DMV. We recently enjoyed a day on a boat a mile down the road from here, and then clumsy me had to slip and seriously hurt my foot/ankle. What better cure is there than a Sonic burger, tots and a Cherry limeade??? None, me thinks. Service was my only complaint. The little carhop dude was nice but not prepared at all. He didn’t even carry ketchup packets, napkins, mints, etc. on his tray like they’re supposed to. We asked for ketchup and then he just never came back.

Diet Cherry Limeades keep me comin’ back! The tater tots are never good! Why is that? I’m just wanting school cafeteria-level tots but the oil they are cooked in tastes funny or something to me. The Sonic Blasts, sort of like a blizzard, never have enough toppings, and the toppings are mostly on the top. If you get a large, though, it’s like having 17 pounds of ice cream.

Ok so Sonic, the fast food chain Marylanders have been without for many years, has now open several locations throughout the DMV. This location is well, bad. The location offers tabled seating options for patrons who may not want to dine in their cars, however they do not pay attention to people ordering from them. For someone who doesn’t normally dine at fast food joints, or even want to rarely, this makes the experience that much dissatisfying. So having to go get back into the car and pull into a awkward parking spot and order through a box is the sonic way, so I went to try that. Ordered several items total for myself and the passengers which resulted in missing items and wrongly placed items on the tray. I won’t be returning for the subpar, and less than stellar experience no matter how cool their rollerskating delivery crew is, or their amazing drink flavor combinations — it’s gimmicky and just as bad as a visit to McDonalds — 2 stars.
