Had an appointment for 7 am didn’t arrive till 8:45 am. I asked for no rock but with pea gravel. First he tells me there’s not enough room to back his truck. 3 feet of space on each side. 3 strikes before he tried to pass the bad mix on me. I kicked his butt of the site. Bush league cement service

Just needed 2 yards. Big companies seemed to be short with me like I was wasting their time. This company was perfect for the job. Larry was so nice, on time and very helpful. Cleaned up after himself and even offered to stick around and help after the cement was poured and paid for. Who does that! What big company does that? Small business! Will definitely refer him and use him again in the future

As a homeowner your always making home improvements inside and out, this time it was pouring a new patio slab a 13×21. We called around and got some real competitive pricing but no one was working on Memorial Day, as we had that day off work. In our calls we found that American Short Load Owner Operator Larry, was willing to come out at no extra charge and do the job. Let us just say… we got way more than we bargained for, not only in price but in help. The night before our finisher canceled on us so, It was just My husband, daughter, son, next door neighbor and I left to do the work, which we are not experienced in this line of work. Larry, on the other hand knew everything there was to know and some. Larry could see we were struggling and guided us through the process and jumped in when needed and loaned us some tools we did not have. This was a good learning experience for all us and might I add that Larry is kind, funny, knowledgeable, hard worker and passionate about his concrete. We all would HIGHLY recommend this company for your concrete needs. Also Larry does have finishers available to help with any project, you just have to ask him when you call and he will give you more info.

Needed 17×7 patio extension. Larry came with 2 yards of mixed on the spot cement. I had two guys with wheelbarrows and a guy doing finishing work. Delivery was done in about 40 minutes. Very reasonable and Larry didn’t hesitate to give some tips and even allowed us to use one of his tools to finish the project. Would use this method again in a minute! Highly recommend this company!

Larry was refered to me by a contractor friend because i only needed 2 yards of cement. He showed up on time and even assisted in spreading the cement and helping float out the hi and low spots. He was the best and will use again in a minute!

A short while ago, I was searching for prices on a short load of concrete. I needed 5.25 yards. If you only need 1 – 6 yards, a short load is the way to go. It is mixed on arrival, so you don’t have to worry that your delivery will be at the end of the driver’s run and it is already starting to set. Just like andrea v. mentioned, the delivery is not timed. It took about 1.5 hours to take wheel barrow full loads of concrete into my back yard, but no extra charge.
I had two wheelbarrows, but both were cheap. Larry let us use his wheel barrow. The best part of all, he let my 18 month old sit in his truck and let my wife take his picture. Cost was $ 98/​yard + $ 120 for delivery. Larry made recommendations to me and the concrete contractors I hired. Concrete quality was great, and my home is even better now.

My contractor hired American Short Load to deliver some concrete. They got into some kind of dispute about the quality of the concrete, and my contractor withheld $ 60. They fought over this $ 60 for months. One day a woman named Denise came to my front door and told me that she was married to the owner of American Short Load Concrete. She wanted my information for her file, and she assured me that her company was not going after me, rather my contractor. She told me my contractor had not paid them, and she wanted payment and was suing him. Well, Denise tricked me, and American Short Load Concrete sued my contractor and me, dragging us to small claims court. It was not until I was in court that I learned American Short Load was holding my contractor’s check, waiting for the additional $ 60. The judge told them to cash the damned check already and he awarded them the additional $ 60. I don’t appreciate being lied to and tricked into giving personal information, and had I known this was over $ 60, I would have just given it to Denise when she first came to my front door. I had already paid my contractor the money, but I would have paid an additional $ 60 to avoid having to take a day off of work to go to court. This judgement went on my credit report, and every time I applied for a loan, I had to prove I paid this judgement. It also affected my credit rating. Again, had they just been honest about what was going on, I would have made sure they got their $ 60, but they were so angry at my contractor, they wanted blood from everyone.

Being a homeowner leads to things like learning about concrete. The wife and I have been working on our yard and driveway for the last few months and it was time to tear out and replace the front portion of our cracked driveway. I did a search online and the first person I called was Larry at American Short Load Concrete. He gave me a quote, which sounded reasonable, but I still called around to a couple more places just to get an idea of what prices were like out there. Without spending more than just a few minutes calling around, I determined that his price sounded very fair.
It was actually cheaper to have him bring his concrete mixing truck to our house and deliver the concrete than it would have been for us to rent a mixer filled with concrete from one of the local rental agencies! (And we wouldn’t have to worry about driving a trailer back and forth either.)
What I really liked about ASLC/​Larry (he’s a one man company):
Flat $ 120 delivery (M-​Sat; Sundays cost more)
$ 98/​cubic yard for driveway grade concrete (6 bag)
His truck holds up to 6 cubic yards, so you don’t have to know exactly how much you need.
He doesn’t time how long the delivery takes (as long as it’s within reason)
You only pay for what you use!
Also great was the fact that he actually helped us with the driveway! We already had two people who knew what they were doing, plus the wife and I trying to ‘help’. Larry was nice enough to step in and give us a few pointers and even do a little of the work without being asked! So we ended up with three people who knew what they were doing, and two more of us learning!
I only wish we had a bigger project at one time to take advantage of the flat delivery cost, but I know who to call next time I need concrete!
