I should give them 5 stars and on quality of workmanship, they deserve 10. But this is the place to go for plating and polishing for the rich and famous. If you’re famous, they will get it done right away(OK, I don’t know that for sure, I just know some heavy hitters who go there and their work gets done pretty quickly). But you do have to be rich to afford them. I took an old bicycle handlebar to be stripped and re-chromed. The estimate was $ 285 for just the handlebar. $ 565 for the lot which included a dozen or so small bike parts for a vintage bike. New handle bars are 10 bucks and up but they are NEW. The parts I had were very rusty and needed a lot of work. But the price blew my away. I don’t think many plating companies exist locally anymore because of government restrictions on toxic chemicals. But at ASP the work is done onsite, not sent to Mexico. You pay for this big time. Restorers prefer the original parts to be used on a restoration. However, the finished bike would have been worth a couple hundred at auction. So, I threw the project away. That’s not the fault of ASP but beware of the costs relative to your item(s). I hope I’m being fair here. If you believe what you find on Internet forums, the average price for re-chroming handlebars is under a 100 bucks. This comes from surveying forums from minibikes to Harleys. Consider this: ASP could never move locally and open up another shop. They probably could not sell the business so it’s worth nothing. They need to charge enough to save and fill that void. But I’m still leaving only 3 stars because of the much higher than average prices. That’s not a reflection on their workmanship. Get it? ;)
