Great City Views!
I stayed at this hotel after seeing a Groupon/​Living Social a few years back. The hotel is plopped right in the center of Downtown Long Beach near some sites so you really don’t need your car once you there.
The hotel has a very relaxed contemporary feel to it, which is really nice because contemporary always gives me the feel of pointy and sharp and NOT a place for kids, but somehow they were able to mixed in a relaxed feel so you get that nice, time to relax feel as soon as you walk through the doors. They did a great job of bringing in the water theme being that is it is IN LONG BEACH near the water.
The rooms are nice sized and not the normal walk-​in closet with a bed and bath like some places, but I had a mini suite I think. My voucher also included breakfast which was really nice and not some sparse continental breakfast where you leave starving and have to go out for breakfast AGAIN!
I enjoyed my stay-​cation so much I asked if they had any rooms available for me to stay an additional night. To my surprise they did and because I am a resident (live in the area) I got a special room upgrade and it was actually cheaper than what I paid for my Groupon/​Living Social deal but didn’t include breakfast. I guess you can’t have it all.
My new room was a bit bigger and I had wonderful views of the Queen Mary and the Pike which was really nice. Since I was moved to a different room the hotel was kind enough to move all my belongings since I hadn’t checked out yet. Super nice AND NOTHING was missing.
The weather was a bit on the cool side but I had a chance to go up to the rooftop and hangout by the pool. Such SPLENDID city views from there. They also have a little bar where you can get a drink if you like. It’s a nice place to just unwind and meet some out-​of-​towners .
The only thing I don’t like is the parking situation. You have to park in the structure which charges but the hotel does validate so you are not paying the full price. It would be nice if that was included in the price of the hotel stay.
I would DEFINITELY do another stay-​cation here!

I was in long beach for one night. The hotel is nice, the rooms are spacious enough. We order room service and the food was good. You can’t see the sunset on the roof but its still a beautiful view.

Catering Manager seemed a bit unpleasant and not very helpful as if she was above others. It amazes me because this isnt the Peninsula Hotel in Beverley Hills. Not even close.

I don’t know if I should be reviewing Avia or Hyatt, since it is now owned by the latter, but I figure this name has more reviews.
This place is down tempo and serene, yet grand with subtlety. There’s no pretentious, formality-​ridden atmosphere, just a bright and airy boutique hotel with a certain je né sais quois. The rooftop is picturesque, one side backdropped by the harbor, the other side by the skyline. There are little surprises in the room as well, like a spinning t.v. and a gorgeous bathroom with a rainfall showerhead. Lastly, I love that the elevator is card-​secured, because it keeps the rowdy out… creating a calm, easy feel.
This is a boutique hotel done right.

This place was pretty great — I kind of got the feeling that they enjoyed gouging the prices, especially after I noticed the pressure sensors on the liquor bottles and food in the room. If you picked it up (even if you didn’t open or consume it) you’d be charged for it. We were very careful not to even bump into the dresser that held those items.
The pool was very nice, though a bit smaller than it appeared in pictures. We spent our first evening up there watching the sun set and drinking the booze we brought up to the roof — nobody else was up there, though the pool area did close at 11pm.
The bed was very comfortable and the shower was out of this world. At first, I was a bit surprised that the bathroom door didn’t lock and there was no shower door, but we went with it! The shower head was awesome. The parking was right across the street in the garage and was expensive at $ 23/​day, but you could come and go as you pleased. It was close enough to take in the touristy things in LA but far enough away from LA to get away from it all. Oh, and free wi-​fi!
The restaurant in the hotel had amazing cinnamon french toast! I would stay here again if we were back in the area. I’d recommend getting a bay front view, though we did have a view of the courtyard and it wasn’t horrible, we would’ve preferred a bay view. I can’t say that this place was very kid-​friendly, probably one of the reasons we liked it so much. :)

The rooms are really clean and comfortable. WARNING! Do not pick up any of the alcohol bottles in the room. It has a sensor and they will charge it to your room. Be very careful when you check out. The front desk person did not tell us our total. I asked for a receipt and I didn’t look at it. Well they charged us $ 39 for the alcohol bottle that my husband picked up to show me and put it back. We did not drink it. I explained it to the front desk. He told us that he removed it from our account. Well he didn’t. My husband called and spoke with five different people at the hotel. They didn’t get it that they charged us and charged it back. I spoke with two other people and the same thing. FINALLY! My husband spoke with one person that finally understood what happened. He said that we should see a credit in five days. Hopefully, we will see the credit.
I was also dissappointed that we didn’t get to enjoy the pool that Saturday. They had a wedding and closed the pool. What I don’t understand is why didn’t someone tell us before checking in. This is the reason why I stayed at this hotel. They have a nice pool on the roof.
Besides the two things. it was nice. We walked to the Yard House. Very nice clean hotel and friendly staff.

if you’re staying in LB this is a good spot. The rooms are smartly put together and comfortable. the pool deck is nice with great views, and the staff have been great each time I’ve been here. I consider this a good travelers hotel with great style. Good for the weekend getaway or business trip.
Didn’t get to try the restaurant, but it looked pretty good. I recommend switching rooms to one with a harbor view if available. In fact, I recommend that at ANY hotel… always scope a few rooms! You never know what you’re missing. ;)

Boyfriend and I stayed here last night after he picked me up at the LB airport. It was a perfect night to get away from home because of the closure of the 60 fwy (we both live off the exit of the collapsing bridge) and gave us time to relax for the night without the stress of sitting in traffic. My boyfriend checked in before picking me up and he said the guy at the front desk was super chill and made checking in a breeze while accomodating our every need. We requested online for a quiet room but the guy upgraded us to a honeymoon room. Totally nice. The hotel is located on Pine in Rainbow Harbor. It’s the plaza (?) with Hooters, CPK, Islands, and a whole bunch of other restaurants.
Walking into Avia was like walking into a swank downtown LA hotel. Everything looks new, modern, and inviting… and not in that cheesy tacky way. We were placed on the 6^th floor with views of the water and Shoreline.
Our room was amazing. It was clean and the color palette was extremely comforting and relaxing. Everyone here has already mentioned the swivle tv and the cute sitting area but I have to give some love to the bathroom. It is exactly how I would have pictured my future bathroom to look like. The rain showerhead was a dream come true! It felt so good just to stand under the hot water after my flight. The toiletry products they used were also nice… exfoliating body soap??? Yes please!
The bed was super comfortable and felt heavenly after my 6 hr flight. However, we felt like it sunk in a lot towards the middle of the bed and would have liked the bed overall to be a bit firmer. There was an ipod dock set on one bedside table and the other had extra outlets so you could charge all your portable electronics!
Our room was very quiet and we rarely heard our neighbors or people walking by outside. Perfect for couples looking for a quick getaway from home.
Avia does not offer room service for dinner which isn’t a huge problem since there are a variety of restaurants around the vicinity. although of course it would be nice if they did. We called into CPK for take out and made a 2 min walk to pick it up when it was ready. It was perfect! If you aren’t down for the selection that Rainbow Harbor has to offer, you can walk up either direction of Pine and have your selection of the restaurants offered around there. They do however, offer in-​room breakfast. There’s a card you fill out about what you’d like to get for breakfast and what time and you leave the card outside your door before 2am so the staff can pick it up and make your order for later that morning.
The room got a bit warm while we were sleeping but we were able to turn on the AC no problem. We both slept like babies :)
The morning of check out, we slept in and lounged in our room until we had to get ready to leave. My boyfriend always drinks coffee in the morning so he made us each a cup using the room’s coffee maker. I actually didn’t get to drink it or see what kind of coffee it was but my bf said it was tasted delicious for hotel coffee!
Check out is usually at 12 but my boyfriend rarely gets time off to see me so we called when we woke up to see if we could extend our check out. The woman who answered our call at the front desk was very sweet and courteous. She did not hesitate to tell us that she could change it to 1pm instead with no extra charge. I was very surprised to hear how accommodating she was about late check out because usually when I ask at other hotels, the front desk always kinda gives me a hard time about it. Check out was easy. The woman at the front desk asked us many times how our stay was and made sure we were happy with our room. She was very friendly and sweet and even wished us happy holidays as we were leaving out the front door!
I really enjoyed my time at Avia. I loved the small room details and the quiet peaceful time I got to spend with my boyfriend and the helpful staff. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and I wouldn’t mind coming back at all if we got situated in the same type of room and the price was right. Thank you Avia for having us!!! We hope to be back soon!

I grew up in Long Beach… use get chased by security and yelled at by cops for skating through the convention center and shoreline… good times, good times. But now that I’m a northern California transplant, I find myself at odds of where to stay when I come back to
for a visit… it’s either a blow up mattress in my brothers living room, my friends trailer in south central, or my BFF’s all the way out in BFE (Fontana.)
So not to be bias, but a friend of mine works here and recommended it after I told him we were staying at motel 6, and I’m glad we took his word. It’s quaint, has an amazing shower, the rooms are a good size (we were in a double) and we were trying to figure out how to sneak a bed out of the room because they were so damn comfy. The lobby is gorgeous, and I felt like such a ragamuffin stumbling in at 2am after a six hour drive with crazy hair.
It’s pretty quiet, considering it’s location. Close to everything imaginable. Our last day we had breakfast in the dinning area, and no complaints at all. My sis in law is still drooling over the salmon eggs benedict. Parking was not a pain in the ass. I don’t care that there was no valet, and they give you late check out for no additional cost if you ask!
The pool was «closed» (haha old meme) when we got a chance to go to the rooftop to check it out, but the view was damn amazing.
Well now that I’ve found this little gem, I must admit I’ll be doing my best not to stay anywhere else!!! And it sure as all hell beats crunching up with my friend in the trailer in south central: P

We booked this hotel for our 7^th wedding anniversary right on the Hyatt website and got a great deal with the AAA discount. Great location, right next to the Pike and within walking distance of Pine and Shoreline. That area of Long Beach is so different than it used to be, and it’s really cleaned up now. The only thing my husband commented on is that he wishes there weren’t so many chain restaurants taking up all the prime real estate right on the water.
The hotel itself is so new looking a clean, you’ll forget where you are the minute you step inside. I loved the colors — muted dark lavenders and green, with sleek retro-​modern furnishings. Our King room was just the right size with a large bathroom and unique, roomy shower. Free internet access and $ 7 overnight parking (normally $ 24) were a definite plus. Service was friendly and nice, and the guy who checked us in even gave us a pocket walking map and pointed out the local spots to have dinner.
We visited the rooftop bar, and although the view was amazing, the place was deserted. I think they should have later pool hours or louder music to draw more of a crowd.
Room service prices were actually reasonable and we enjoyed french toast and an omelet in bed the next morning. The french toast was a bit too thick and overly dense for me, and while the omelet was a bit too salty, it was loaded with ham, cheddar and avocado, which I loved. The in-​room coffee was actually really decent.
I would stay at this hotel again, given the chance. My favorite part was the look of the place — it almost made me want to repaint our own bedroom lavender and green!

A friend of ours held a birthday party at the pool top terrace so my wife and I decided to stay at the hotel. We booked on line and asked for a cot/​roll out bed which was confirmed.
The hotel is clean, nice looking but far from any bars or nightlife. If you quiet then this is a good call. But it was a shock to find it has no valet service, especially when the car park nearby has a perfectly good valet that could be used. Whats up with that?
The staff at checking in were polite but when we asked where the roll out bed was (for a friend) we got a very rude response telling us that they didnt have one and even refusing the believe the print out!
The staff for the pool party however were first class, polite, kind and keen to help. They deserve 4 or 5 stars.
But the breakfast was bland and the service s-​l-​o-​w so frankly all in all this is one to skip.

Since Hyatt took over this hotel, the rates have gone up a bit.
Also my review was based on the Master Suite, I have stayed twice since then in the Grand King and the room is significantly smaller. The table is tucked into a corner and really difficult to use if you plan to get any work done. The shower is smaller and there is only 1 sink in the bathroom.
If you can get a good rate, then I would stay here.
In the area the best options are the Renaissance and Avia.
The Avia has a rooftop pool, but the Renaissance has a larger overall pool deck.

I threw my 24^th sinfully sexy birthday pool party here at the rooftop 360 Lounge. And all I can say is the place was DAMNNNN SEXAY!
When walking into the front lobby of the hotel you’d think you just walked into a fancy Manhattan boutique hotel but NOPE… ur in the LBC baby where Snoopy snoop likes to get highhh.
Ok, I’ll start off with just one teensy tiny negative comment which resulted me rating AVIA only 4 stars and not 5. Here goes…
I originally booked my cabana about 3 – 4 months prior to my actual event day. Since the hotel is small, the events staff is quite small too, so communication with them wasn’t as detailed and punctual as I would have liked. I didn’t like the fact that the day before my event, the events crew didn’t bother to check-​in with me to confirm everything and give me detailed instructions as to where to go, who to talk to, who to pay upon arriving. So we had to just ask one of the staff members to check on my cabana reservation, which took awhile so of course I had to take a pee break (which, btw… the restrooms in the lobby are stellar and modern; super clean and fancy!). He finally came down and had to grab the wristbands for my VIP list. The fact that I didn’t know myself how to get access to the rooftop pool made me look bad as a planner, since I’m always very prepared and ahead of the game; I would have liked to send out specific instructions for my guests so they didn’t just go wandering into the hotel trying to figure out where this pool was. So yes, docking a star for communication bizznatch!
Anyways, so you take the elevator up to the rooftop pool and BAM as the doors open you are greeted by a lovely, smaller sized pool, the bar to the right with friendly bartenders/​servers and seating all around the pool. We chose the cabana to the right since it was right by the best view of LB. You could see the Queen Mary bright as day from where we were seated! Super gorgeous day it was.
The bartender brought out my huge bucket of beers, 1 bottle of vodka w/​mixers and a huge bucket of Evian water bottles. The setup was simple and nice. The seating in the cabana was decent as well… especially the comfy couch I was lounging on most of the time.
I like the fact that my crew pretty much took over the entire rooftop lounge… and I’m super glad security didn’t kick me out for my «behavior». Since it was my bday celebration, I decided to really stay true to myself and be ME. Struttin around in a slutty-​sexy bikini w/​a dark penis straw in hand and grabbin on any hot titties or bootays I see. :)
Unfortunately I did not have any of the drinks that were a part of my cabana package, besides some of the Evian H2O! But… my friend Nancy L. did buy me 2 shots of Patron, even though I wasn’t allowed more than one shot of alcohol that whole weekend since I’m still in precontest season for my first bikini competition, and boy were they BOMB dot com. Not sure if they were priced high, let’s hope not cuz they served me the shots in these tiny little plastic shot glasses. Next time, it’s DOUBLE shots, cuz Patron is like jizz juice to me, and jizz juice is damn yummy. ;)
All in all a crazy-​fun time at AVIA and I’d definitely love to return and try out some of the food there, which I hear is apparently BOMB dot com as well.
Oh! Parking was easy to find! We parked in the structure literally 2 – 3 steps from the hotel. Also got our ticket validated, thanks to my VIP status with the cabana reservation. That’s how I roll beezies! :P

Great room with nice modern touches. The bed was super comfy and the bathroom had a great big shower. Nice wood accents in the room including a room divider (between the bed and couch) that had a nifty rotating TV so you can switch it to face the bed or the couch. Hint: there is a message on the back of the TV rotator that you can read from the mirror over the headboard (since the letters are backward). Nice views too and windows that actually open.
The front desk was super friendly and eager to help.
Make sure to get your parking ticket stamped. The parking structure is next to the hotel across one of the small side streets.
The highlight was the rooftop pool and bar. Nice strong cocktails and an awesome view of the water and downtown buildings. Not a bad way to spend the day. It’s cozy and feels exclusive. If you get there early enough, you can snag a cabana. If not, there are tables and chairs too. They have a happy hour up there so make sure to check it out. The hotel is within walking distance of downtown and all its restaurants and bars too.

Modern, clean, and classy hotel with a rooftop lounge that unfortunately I wasn’t able to visit this time around, but next time for sure!

If I’m in the area again, I’ll remember this hotel. While the average cost is about $ 200 a night, it’s a stellar hotel in a location that you can’t beat in downtown LB.

BEWARE BRIDES & GROOMS. AVIA HOTEL OF LONG BEACH IS NOT WEDDING FRIENDLY!
We have never been so disgusted by a business before, so I am extremely compelled to write this review for you.
1) Events Coordinator Mandy Dials not responsive. At times our time stamps on our emails mark 2 weeks for her reply and she never answers her phone or returns calls.
2) Reservations told our guests that we were NOT getting married there. Shelton (Reservations Manager) apologized and offered us two COMPLIMENTARY master suites for Friday, July 1^st and Saturday, July 2^nd for the inconvenience.
3) Day of our dress rehearsal on Friday, July 1^st, we went to check in and the front desk insisted that the «bride and groom» was not staying there. We wasted an hour trying to get our rooms situated, and then Daniel comes back and says we can give you the rooms for the special rate of $ 149. Umm, Shelton gave us two complimentary master suites. Later they gave us a handicap room and a regular room. FYI, rude front desk as well.
4) On our wedding day, they made us switch rooms to the suites. The suite I was getting ready in had a leaky faucet, so I had to tighten it so water would stop spilling everywhere.
5) Missing plate settings and chairs, despite a headcount and diagram given to them 2 weeks prior.
6) Slow elevators
7) Instead of one table linen, two were combined so there was a big gap in the center of the table. Linens were creased.
8) Double charged my sister’s credit card for breakfast.
9) Sunday, day of checkout, Sandra Barbour (Director of Customer Services) asked me how my stay was, so I told her the story. She seemed sincere and said the general manager would be in touch.
10) Wednesday, I get a conference call from Steven Terrebonne (Assistant Manager) and Bob Haury (General Manager) telling me «You wanted a call back?» First of all, wouldn’t you want to call me back after the circumstance? Anyway, they were apologetic, but they continued to rationalize the situation and say I don’t know what you want me to do, «We can give you a free night stay and dinner.» No thank you. They even had the nerve to tell me that «The hotel made a beautiful wedding and you didn’t even complain.» NO, we made it beautiful, it was our guests and our set-​up of décor– all you had to do was put out the chairs and tables and you couldn’t even do that right. And I am not going to ruin my wedding day for your mistakes.

The hotel was amazing! I got a standard King, that was far from standard. The room was split into two parts by a partial wall that had a TV that rotated. This enabled you to watch TV both in the amazingly comfortable bed and on the couch in the living room. The bathroom and two showers, one «rain» sower head and one detachable shower head. There was also a bench in the shower in case you wanted to sit and shower. Great room service, beautiful views from the roof. I highly recommend staying here and will be back.

Beautiful, Mind Blowing, Pleasure Chest, Stylish, Sexy, Sleek, and Amazing! I can rant and rave and massage the ego of AVIA all day. AVIA exceeded my wishes and met me with nothing but pure pleasure.
Every now and then I get worn out from dark bars, strong drinks, lady drama, gossip, 4 hours of sleep, 50 hours of work a week, partying till the sun comes up, and I just want to run faster than I can ever imagine and just get the F*ck away!
AVIA helped out big time. The beds kept me and the lady in a cloudy fluffy heaven, the door less very spacious rainfall shower with plenty of room for wet company, the rotating flat screen so it can be viewed from any angle in the room, the chic bar boasting beautifully mixed strong cocktails like the Lavender Lemonade and Margaritas made from scratch, spacious outdoor area to soak in the relaxation, and the ever so gorgeous rooftop pool that will make you grab your cell and book another night immediately. We opened a special bottle of tequila and enjoyed the entire hotel and every inch of the room.
Customer Service was superb, the employees smiled, looked professional, and they most definitely where on top of their game. I will be back, no doubt in my mind. A slice of ecstasy without taking a pill.

AVIA is a spectacular boutique hotel off in the corner of The Pike.

The room itself is quite nice (the suite) — HUGE bathroom and a very unique looking shower. The square footage is not very big though — just enough for a small living roof with sofa, a queen bed, the huge bathroom lol and a little work area.
They also have a small gym and a relaxing outdoor lounge (we’d stay outside and chit chat under the heater when it got dark… very refreshing!) There’s also a roof top swimming pool!!! You get a spectacular view of the city. =) You can also rent their cabannas if you wish.
We told them it was for our wedding — so we got it discounted $ 40/​night. =)
They also do little nice things for special occasions… the hubby surprised me by ordering rose petals strewn throughout the room (this is really romantic and it makes the room smell so nice!), chocolate dipped strawberries + a bottle of wine. =) The chocolate dipped strawberries were so good!!! =D
Parking is $ 7/​day. There’s not much parking anywhere else so you’re kinda stuck. It’s so close to Aquarium of the Pacific, the Pike and V2O if you’re into clubbing. =)

Came down to the OC for a wedding weekend. Looked for a nice place to stay in the area. Definitely wanted something a bit different than the standard big box chains. This place stood out and looked the part too. It had a very laid back vibe and felt very chill. Almost San Diego like.
The Upgraded King Suite was plush. The rotating TV unit is genius. I am now thinking of ways to create a contraption like that in my own home. The room wasn’t huge, but definitely large enough to spread out and still feel like there are «separate» areas. There is an office area nook with Dean and Deluca treats just staring at you in the face (Mind you they are connected to what seems like a weight sensor, you pick it up, you just bought it…) The stocked mini bar was a great plus. I was glad to see that they even left a space for personal usage. I hate when hotels have a minibar and don’t even leave room to store your own bottle of water.
The bathroom is quite an experience. I wish you could use both shower heads at the same time, or would have been nice if it had been a steam shower, but hey no complaints. Using a shower like this is great at a hotel because you realize how impractical it is if you were to have something like this in your own home with no housekeeping to clean it every day! Water splatters everywhere. Oh well…
The staff was friendly but didn’t have too much interaction with them. The roof top pool deck is amazing and quite beautiful. A great place to chill and wind down the evening. It is SERIOUSLY missing a hot tub. Cut the pool in half and put in a hot tub! We had the breakfast buffet and it was very delicious. A medium sized spread with the perfect combination of things you WANT to eat and nothing you DON’T.
All in all, a nice place to stay if you need to be around the area. Would definitely stay here again.

My hubby and I stayed there on our wedding night (09−05−09). Yes, I showed up there with wedding dress and all. We loved it so much we recently went back (11−7−09). Shhh don’t tell anyone but we are actually locals and we enjoyed our visit so much that we plan on going back there. We literally live about 5 minutes away from the hotel. We are also in love with their bed that we considered buying. I don’t know what everyone is talking about the staff is amazing. When my hubby inquired about their beds they were very helpful in pointing him to the person he needed to contact. Overall our experience at the hotel was great.
The breakfast buffet was great. The pool was a tad small but it has incredible views. The suites are better than the regular rooms. The bathrooms are beautiful. The location is great since you have all of down town at your disposal.
