Service was super fast, friendly all the gals who work there. The Benson scramble was awesome, but service w/a smile is always a plus!

Visited 5÷28÷16… Very close to the motel we were staying at like about 2 – 3 blocks. Seated very fast. Our waitress is fast, attentive and very friendly. Food is very good. Son said it was the best breakfast he’s had in a very long time and it’s hard to please him so that should tell you something. Restroom was clean and smelled fresh. The place filled up fast so that tells me it’s a popular place and they must be doing something right. I would highly recommend BBtB. We will be back. Thank you. C +T Payne

My husband and I went to Benson’s for breakfast today 5÷28÷16. They were moderately busy but not slammed. We were seated and the waitress took our order right after taking another table of four people’s order. We waited… and waited… and waited. Meanwhile, the table of 4 got their food, ate, and left; other tables were filled, served and left. The waitress kept refilling our drinks and I finally asked if they’d forgotten our order. She said she’d check… but she never came back. About 15 minutes later, another waitress arrived with our food so I asked what happened, were we forgotten? She first said no, but when we persisted she said she’d check. She came back later to fill my husband’s coffee and said yes, there’d been a mix up. She apologized but I wondered why the original waitress never came back to tell us or acknowledge that we’d waited so long. It was a little weird that they were so reluctant to admit the obvious mix up. The food was pretty good but the weird vibe of denial and lack of acknowledging how long we’d waited are enough to keep us away. Meh. Don’t go if you’ve got a tendency to get hangry!

Visiting from out of town and decided to give Benson’s a try for lunch. My oyster burger was fresh and very juicy, cocktail sauce added a nice tang in addition to the tartar sauce it comes with. Also tried my husband’s beer-battered halibut which was incredibly fresh-tasting, moist, and flaky. Would have liked the food served with fries without an upcharge., but overall the food was good and reasonably priced, our server was attentive and prompt, and Benson’s was well worth the visit.

Had a side of hash browns and bacon. Super good. Excellent hash browns and the bacon was delicious. My only regret was that I only got one side of bacon instead of two.

Very dissatisfied with this place waiting for a simple breakfast of sausage, eggs and toast wait time over an hour. We are telling people coming in the wait time is way too long — and they leave. Waste of time being here!!! Never coming back!!!

My husband was SO impressed with the crab scrambled eggs that we visited on two consecutive days. Saturday morning was BUSY, and some of the wait staff were curt with the customers. Our waitress was wonderful(I wish I’d gotten her name), but I noticed that she was getting ordered around by the more senior servers. When we returned on Sunday morning, the restaurant was less hectic, we were seated right away, and everyone on the wait staff was friendly and pleasant. I found the food good but not great; however(like I mentioned) my husband LOVED it. I guess it’s a matter of personal taste … I’m not particularly fond of seafood, so I tried something out of my «comfort zone»(oyster omelette) and was disappointed. The next day, I opted for a «safe» choice — bacon scrambled eggs — to my surprise, the bacon mixed in with my eggs was in inch-long chunks, not little crumbles like I’d imagined. I saw another table being served the french toast, and it looked amazing. Something to try if we’re ever in Long Beach again …

Good place to come get good breakfast eats. Seafood breakfast dishes and the good old stand by’s. Stop in for breakfast and enjoy the brain teasers.

Came on a weekday morning and enjoyed a lovely meal alongside a collection of tourists and also many locals that the waitress knew by name. Gigantic hot fluffy pancakes with warm syrup and a neverending supply of marion berry sauce. The puffin muffin was like a starbucks breakfast muffin on steroids — much larger with fresh fried egg and crispy thin ham. The waitress was exceptionally and fast and our coffee mugs never went more than half empty. A very pleasant experience.

Nice place to go to grab some breakfast! The pancakes are the most amazing pancakes I have ever had! They are HUGE and so fluffy! You better come with an appetite because the servings are pretty big!

Great Crab Benedict — generous amount of crab. The waitresses are the nicest most genuine ladies ever. I observed them taking care of a local homeless lady — inspirational way to start the day.

This is like an old-timey breakfast place. They only serve breakfast and lunch. It looks like a converted old house, but it’s cozy and comfortable, with tables and booths. They have various types of omelets, which you customize to your liking — just ask. It may not be on the menu. The coffee was a bit weak for my taste, but was promptly refilled. The service was excellent. When finished, go up to the register and pay. Outside, there is a little«pocket park» with a koi pond. There is ample nearby street parking. Apparently, the restaurant will close for the winter season through New Year’s. On a very positive note: the acoustics are decent here, so you can have conversation and hear and be heard!

Awful! Oatmeal over cooked, biscuits burnt, gravy very bland, strawberries for pancakes gross! Save your money! Wish there was a better sit down breakfast restaurant in the area.

We were camping so our friends saved us a table. By the time we arrived our friends had already had their breakfast but recommended the eggs and bacon. Said the bacon was the thick kind and the hash browns were crispy. Our breakfast came out in lightening speed but when our waitress put the plate in front of me I noticed the hash browns not only weren’t crispy but they were barely brown. I asked that they bring them to me the way our friends had them. Then she reached down to take my plate away. I said just bring me new ones I want to start eating my breakfast since my boyfriend had his and our friends were done. She snarled at me and I said just bring me new ones. I will pay. Not thinking they would actually charge me. Then they moved us to a smaller table so they could seat a larger party. We were happy to comply. After about 15 minutes and my breakfast was eaten. I inquired as to where my hash browns were. I got a snippy answer from the waitress who said its busy back there and they will come out on the order received. I said this should have been put in front of all the existing orders as it was a correction order. She informed me that she was just a waitress. So I asked for the manager. The hash browns arrived and crispy they were. There was no sign of white. Then the owner arrived too and I explained what happened. She said because I was late our friends hash browns were cooked longer. And that’s why they were crispy. I said I didn’t care why but you should never try to remove a plate to fix one item. Just bring out the new item so the person can continue eating with their party. She then said«that’s just how we do it here». To add insult to injury. They charged me for the hash browns. Want to be treated terribly? Eat here.

Breakfast all day! Kids’ prices are extremely fair for breakfast(my two boys cost $ 5 total). Menu is simple, but the food is well-prepared and comes out fast. I would come here again & you should… especially if you have young ones.

I shouldda known. They told me the crab in the crab benedict was not dungeness, but I was hopeful it would be good. It wasn’t. It wasn’t bad and certainly not bad enough to send back, but just made me regret having ordered that. The crab was dry and flaky shreds, was it canned? Everyone else’s meal looked better than mine. My other breakfast in Long Beach was at Laurie’s and I would go there again or order something different at Benson’s. Try the razor clams.

There aren’t a ton of breakfast options in Long Beach, but I liked the sound of the seafood-heavy menu at Benson’s by the Beach, having never had razor clams before. It’s a pretty typical diner, which is both good and bad. The seating area is pretty spacious, so we only had to wait a minute before getting a table for two, and sat on the sunnier enclosed patio area off to the side. They have those folksy diner newsletters full of cheesy jokes and local ads, and a wooden peg puzzle on every table to pass the time while you wait for your server and/or your food. Every table around us eventually succumbed to the peg puzzle, and it even prompted some friendly conversation between tables — this is that kind of place. They offer the standard breakfast fare, plus the more beachy specials like the razor clams ‘n’ eggs and the Hangtown Fry(oyster omelet). The portions are enormous and the quality of the food is decent, if not outstanding; some things, like the hash browns, are obviously straight out of a freezer bag. The«grilled» razor clams are actually batter-fried, which wasn’t what I was expecting, but I enjoyed them anyway. The Hangtown Fry was really good and probably the thing to get if you’re looking for a local specialty. The coffee was terrible, watery and flavorless, so I wouldn’t bother getting it – grab a cup somewhere else first! Really, it’s that bad. Overall, it’s a classic diner experience, with big portions, friendly servers, and a folksy family-friendly atmosphere. The prices were a bit higher than average, but that’s life in a touristy beach town. An okay place for simple diner food.
