My hunt for delicious pupusas has led me here to this little hole in the wall restsurant. My girlfriend is Salvadorian and she has very high standards and even she approved of this place. This place does not skimp on the cheese. These pupusas were oozing deliciousness and they weighed like a pound each. I ordered 5 thinking I would split them between my girlfriend and I but I was wrong. She could not finish her second and I was not about to start the third. Mind you, I can pack food in like Fat Bastard. The traditional pickled cabbage and carrot slaw that accompanies these flour and cheese creations is also a key factor in the success of the dish itself. It needs to hold its own weight apart from the pupusa. It succeded in this case. Trust me when I say this side ccan make or break the meal. I ordered my meal to go and they gave me a quart sized Ziploc bag full of this«curtido.» This is very generous and appreciated. The spicy tomato sauce was also good but not great. I will be back because this place got the recipe right. Check it out on your next cheat meal day.

Best Popusas Revueltas(Cheese & Chicharon) ever!!! Don’t mind the area or the ambiance, been coming here for 30-ish years and they still taste just as good as ever. Don’t know how the other dishes are, since I’ve never tried anything else but the Popusas are the Bestest!!!

When I’m craving a pupusa, this is where I head to. For years my family has been coming here. We love everything but especially the pupusas! Upon entering one might underestimate the glorious food and incredible service, but trust me on this, the food is amazing. The waitress has been working there forever and she’ll make you feel like family, she’s absolutely adorable and will be honest with her suggestions. The décor and seating is a little outdated but the sweetheart writing your order and the food itself will make up for it. I highly recommend the pupusas and the posole! Yum! Prices are very low too! They haven’t changed their menu or prices since they opened and that’s a huge bonus. It’s worth every cent. Thanks Cafecito! You’re a gem in this part of town.

WOW!!! Talk about a hole in the wall restaurant. If you were to drive by you wouldn’t even know it’s there. My wife was craving popusas a salvadorian specialty(please correct me if I’m wrong) my mother told me to go to downtown long beach to a little restaurant it took me a couple of drive to figure out where it was. In side the place look small, simple, and some what old. Hesitantly we ordered 4 popusas and a few 2 tacos. I tried to play with my card but it was cash only luckily I had 20 dollars in my wallet I thought I was going to have to cancel part of the order but it turned out it was less than $ 15 including 2 drinks. He tacos were magnificent and the popusas, forget about it…

Closed for mouse droppings and cockroaches. This restaurant should never re-open…please never go to a place like this. Ownership clearly should not be involved in the food service industry.

Came to check this place out about a week ago. It was around 12:30& busy. We had to wait for a table. The service was a bit slow, there was only one lady waitressing and two cooking. Still, we were not in a rush so it was fine once we got our coffee=) The actual food was good and priced right. I had two bean and cheese pupusas nice size and coffee was good too. If im in the area will definitely check this place out again!

This Place Gets 5 Freaking Stars! The Pupusas are the BEST in the South Bay and they’re Stuffed! When I tried the queso con frijoles it was a wrap. They beat out all others around the area. small restaurant, very small but the food is great.

This place has outstanding al pastor tacos and damn good pupusas! Two reasons I did not give them 5 stars is 1) they only accept cash 2) they don’t have beer. I truly enjoyed everything I ate and cannot wait to return. Yes, to be honest, its located in the hood, has bars on the windows, street parking only and no air conditioning but then again, I felt that it transported me to a real eatery that I would find in El Salvador, which I totally dig, it felt authentic. The server did not speak English but she was patient and kind to us. Oh, prices are bomb too!

PUPUSAS. Big, savory, flavorful, and cheap. I’ve been coming here for years and I feel like El cafecito isn’t credited enough. More people need to know about this place, because it absolutely IS another hole-in-the-wall in a sketchy part of town. I’ve taken so many friends here, and they look at me like I’m joking about having lunch there. Yes, there are bars on the windows. The interior isn’t one of everyone’s preference or liking, but the food is definitely worth it! Oh God, yes. If you’ve never had a pupusa before, I recommend the cheese. I make trips all the way to this part of town just to satisfy a craving for a good pupusa. I believe that is their specialty, but many of their other dishes are also great. I love their posole! 9 out of 10 times the service is incredibly friendly. They have a jukebox, a jukebox! This little gem is a favorite spot of mine, and their prices are very cheap! All in all, 4 stars Cafecito. The place is clean, just a bit old, the ambience is homey. The food is great, and the service is wonderful. Go easy on the pupusas guys.

Great Hole-In-The-Wall place. Food is amazing. They cater too. Just try it, don’t listen to people who feel entitled and have unrealistic expectations about the ambiance. Go for the food. You will leave stuffed, and if your local, you just found and inexpensive gem

I’ve been here twice and servers here are very rude and their menu doesn’t make sense. To top it off their beans seemed days old and dry and the rest of the food was kinda bland. I really wanted to like this place as it is close to where I live but oh well.

After driving by this place we finally had a chance to try it. It’s not the most inviting place, but I was in the area. Our first attempt here was unsuccessful as we didn’t realize they did not accept credit or debit cards. By the time we found an atm we just went elsewhere. First of all, the waitress was initially rude. Granted that she was overwhelmed as she was the only one working and the place was busy, but that’s not really my fault, is it? We asked for sopa de patas and she looked at us like we just asked for an oil change. She went on to state that it wasn’t Saturday or Sunday. Normally, I would have walked out at that point, but we were hungry and didn’t feel like driving around to go elsewhere. El Zunzal in Bell which is where we usually go, serves sopa de patas every day. On this visit we ordered the following: Pupusas revueltas and queso con loroco, yucca con chicharon, and tamales de pollo. I won’t deny that flavor wise the pupusas are good, but I was disappointed in the masa to filling ratio. There was way more masa than filling and sadly not much loroco. The yucca con chicharon was fine, but nothing special. Again the tamales had a good flavor, but were way too salty for my taste. The menu includes tacos as well which we didn’t try. In a pinch this place will do, but it’s not something I would go out of my way for.

Cafecito Salvadoreño is a very small resto that serves up good food at great prices. I’ve frequented this resto once a month for the past 2 years, as it is located near my Dr.‘s office. Whether it’s the $ 1.25 Carne Asada Tacos, the $ 2.50 Pupusas or they’re $ 2.50 Burrito Special(chile colorado w/a side salad), it’s difficult to find a better bargain in this economy!!!

I love pupusas, I think they are delicious. There is a great pupusa place at Manhattan beach, but since I moved to Long Beach, I have wanted something more local. I found this place, at first it looked a little sketchy, and it’s maybe not in best part of town. Bars across windows used to prevent cars from crashing in and stealing tings is usually sketch. However, we stayed the course and bought the food and took it home. It was well worth it, the food was very good. We have queso and queso+frjoles in our pupusas, the frijoles were really nice, I like the salsa it comes with, and te salad they make is fantastic. I would highly recommend who was a little adventurous to go to this place and eat, it’s well worth it.

I stopped in this place after driving by a hundred times… it was good. The papusasa were delicious loaded with beans and cheese. I also ordered platanos con crema e frijol. Everything was good — only room for iprovement would be the curtido was lacking some kick — very bland. Also the beans that came with the platano were a little thick and lumpy. I’m used to thinner smooth beans at Salvadorean places. I will definitely be back. I forgot to mention the portions are very generous. Service was goos though there isno obvious menu posted or given. I just asked for what I wanted.

I’ve been going to this spot for several years after a Salvadorean friend took me… I’ve been hooked since. I now work in Downey/Pico Rivera area and i haven’t found one yet that compares… Luna Maya in Downey definitely didn’t compare… My favorite pupusas here are the Revueltas!!! The only down side of this place is its location but I’ll sacrifice that any day for some BOMB ___pupusas, LOL!
