Just came here for DIN-DIN… This place is def a hole n the wall, but service is friendly and the place looks tidy. We ordered two burritos– chicken and carne asada– for a total of 10.88!!! The burritos are a large size and come with chips and salsa. Great deal! Chicken is always tricky at Mexican food spots, but this place did well. Chicken was shredded and had good flavor, not overcooked and dried out.(dry ass shredded chicken is thee worst). I tasted a bit of my guy’s carne asada burrito. It wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it was tasty and fairly tender so we would order again. Ill be back.

This restaurant is a favorite of mine. I make sure to get my weekly fill of their excellent carne asada fries when possible. All of the employees are very friendly and the food is excellent. I highly recommend this place.

Bomb authentic Mexican food in downtown. If you sit and eat you get chips with beans and cheese for free. Who don’t love free?

My new favorite mexican hole in the wall. I get something new every time and haven’t been disappointed yet. The portions are reasonable so for you value seekers you may want to through in an extra taco or two but they have very reasonable prices so you can afford to do that here. I love their salsa and drink options and the staff are so friendly. Getting some quesadillas tomorrow

this is going to be a short review, but wanted to make sure to add one because I’m very happy I found this place. was waiting at the doctor’s office around the corner and was starving. I remember seeing something that had Mexican food off 10th/Pacific, but didn’t know what it was called or anything. I saw some very reasonably priced stuff posted add specials on a board outside. the only thing I recall was $ 1 tacos and $ 2 shrimp tacos. already had my heart set on tacos, so I ordered carnitas and asada. the asada wasn’t the best I’d ever had, but it easily could have been 2 tacos and some change with all the meat they packed onto the tortilla. the carnitas was excellent. the place is really tiny and located next to a carniceria /grocery store. 2 small areas to sit outside and I think 4 tables inside. there’s also a salsa bar with your option of r different types of salsa, jalapenos, carrots, limes and salt packets. wasn’t expecting much but looking forward to going back soon. oh yeah, the guys that were working were very friendly and provide excellent customer service.

This is my favorite Mexican place. This little joint is a short walk away from home and I love it. Let’s just say weekly my family has dinner here. That’s how much we love it. Everything on the menu is delicious. I highly recommend this place to everyone. They have something for everyone which makes it perfect even for a picky eater.

I just sold some of my meds to get money for lunch here. I have been craving an El Cantarito hard shell chicken(or any flavor) taco combo for days! The refried beans are oh so creamy. The Spanish rice is so authentic, you know how the little rice pieces don’t stick together and the spices are just right? That! This is my favorite restaurant right now, not only because it is right across the street and cheap, cheap, cheap but also because the food is as good as Los Campadres(yes, I said it) around the corner. The ambiance is just different. Next, I gotta try the chili relleno! And get to know the guys by first names! Other stuff: the place is clean, the guys are organized and they are friendly.

We kept driving by this place and FINA were able to stop in. Although it was near closing time they still happily accomodate us. The food was fantastic! I ordered the camarones mojo de ajo(shrimp sautéed with butter & garlic… a LOT of garlic!) and I have been craving it for a couple of weeks now. They are Itty bitty shrimps. They are FULLSIZED shrimps and a decent portion, including rice and beans. I do not remember what my husband ordered the first visit, but he got the Diablo wings the last time. They were supposed to be apicy, but they were totally edible! Lol You have to try this place at least once… it’s clean, good food, courteous staff, and quick service. Enjoy!

As a connoisseur of «mom & pop» burrito/taco places, I often stop by when I see a new one that catches my eye. Cantarito did just that on a recent visit to Long Beach. What caught my eye most of all was the sign outside that said«$.99 Tacos». That’s ALWAYS a good sign. Upon looking inside at the wall menu I see a very small sign that says«$.99 Tacos only Tuesdays and Fridays». Well ok, it’s Sunday. So much for the $.99 Tacos. So then why didn’t the sign outside say,? Oh well, never mind. I’m pretty hungry. Yes, it got me in the door. Ok time to order some burritos. I’m hungry and I think I’m gonna need two. Fish or Shrimp burritos are $ 6, other meats are $ 5. I order one Chicken Burrito and after a little discussion the guy says they can make a half & half shrimp/fish burrito. Perfect! The guy rings me up. It’s $ 13.60. Great. I wait for my burritos and a few minutes later I realize that $ 13.60 is about $ 2 more than those 2 burritos should have cost. So I mention it to the counter guy. Instead of offering to refund the difference, he says something like«You be sure to let me know next time». Let him know what? That charging the stated prices is customary in a restaurant? Ok I’m not gonna fight over $ 2. After waiting a few more minutes, I notice on the menu that«Fajita Burritos» are more expensive than regular burritos. So I ask him«Oh, did you make me a Fajita Burrito»? He says no, but the fish/shrimp burrito has cabbage, white sauce, it’s really good you’re gonna love it”. Ok so this guy is really skilled at double talk. So we’ve now got 2 strikes against this place, both involving upselling. How were the burritos? Great! And there’s a salsa bar. With great salsas! And carrots, radishes, etc. All the right stuff. Prices are very average for«mom & pop» burrito/taco places. No super deals here. Normally I’d give a place with this quality of food a flat out a 5 star rating, and leave a big tip to boot(even on a to-go order). Will I go back? Probably not. Ordering tacos/burritos should not involve an ongoing battle to hold on to one’s money. Food=Good. Customer Service=Left a bad taste in my mouth.

Great place! I have only been a few times but every meal I have had here is yummy. The presentation of the actual dish itself always makes the first bite very inviting. My favorite is the mixed fajita dinner with chicken, beef, and shrimp. The place itself is small so not really a place for a big group or family. If you are in the area, I highly recommend you give this place a shot.

I’m a fan of the first cantarito. but this one is better. I kinda feel like I’m in Mexico while sitting outside on the patio enjoying $ 1 tacos. watching soccer wishing I could hear some authentic mariachi music Great salsa bar. spicier than the one on cherry ave… plus a few free. chips All pastor is my favorite. Small street tacos loaded with meat. Soft tacos slightly fried crispy on the outside.

This location has seen many Mexican restaurants over the years, but I have to admit Cantarito’s is the best one yet. I went with my parents and brother and we decided to eat in. I ordered the three tacos special, which comes with rice, beans and a can of soda. The staff was friendly and efficient and they made sure we were satisfied with our food. The only reason I gave this restaurant a four out of five was because my rice was on the cold side. Other than that I highly recommend this place, I will definitely stop by again when I am in the area.

Came to this place today for lunch. Small little hole in the wall place. Food taste really good. Bad part is they don’t have the horchata or Jamaica.

Solid place! This little spot seems to change every so often but I’m hoping that this one stays. It’s next to work and can walk over for my food. I’ve had their chicken enchiladas with green sauce and it’s pretty good. My coworkers have tried more of the menu and they seem to like it. This place is cleaner than any of the previous businesses that have been here before. Overall, good Mexican food.
