Walked in on a Friday during lunch and it was packed — definitely a good sign. The service was great and waitresses were friendly. Food was good, big portions and cheap. I’m glad I found this place as there are not many good Mexican restaurants in walking distance from my work. I will definitely be back.

This place is bomb. It looks ghetto as hell when you walk by, but the staff is super sweet and the food is authentic and delicious. The tacos are yummy. The chilaquiles were perfect for a hangover, paired with a Pacifico and you are good for another round of raging.

I ordered a simple bean, cheese, rice burrito with lettuce and tomato. This was the worst burrito I’ve ever had. They forgot to put in the rice and the cheese wasn’t even melted. How do you get a bean and cheese burrito wrong??? Plus it was $ 7!!! I will never order from this place again!!!

After moving to California from Alabama, great Mexican food was one of the many things I was looking forward to. This was the first Mexican restaurant I tried, and I have to say, I was a bit disappointed. Since this is a mexican restaurant, I should at least comment on the salsa. Spicy. Too spicy. Customer service was great, very attentive. The bartender didn’t speak much English, although she seemed to understand me well enough. Overall this place wasn’t anything special, a hole in the wall good for lunch at best. Another thing to note: they only accept cash.

Just what we needed, real fresh delicious food for a great value, after a weekend of overpriced Convention Center food and drinks. I had the carne asada enchiladas and my friend has the carne asada tacos, with rice and beans on the plate, perfection!

Extremely over rated. I mean by stars. This isn’t a 4 star restaurant. The service is good but the food is ok. Maybe I had high expectations given the fact they had so many amazing reviews. Huge let down sadly. The food was ok. The horchata we had to return due to taste. Maybe my expectations of Mexican food are too high? Anyways not a place I would return to and say this is amazing.

I’ve been here a few times and only ever tried their Caldos(Mexican soups). Each time, we are served quickly, and the soup hits the spot. Today I had the Caldo de Pescado(Fish soup). Not fishy what soever, generous portions of fish — was cooked perfectly. Vegetables were just tender enough. I can’t speak for there other dishes — but this is my Caldo(Mexican Soup) go to spot.

Mexican food is great and the micheladas are epic… The service is great and the pricing is fair 5⁄5 stars… Try this spot out

Don’t judge a book by it’s cover… For almost two years, Ive lived down the street from Cinco de Mayo and never stopped in. It looks run down and has generic photos of food plastered to the windows. The other day, I had the worst craving for a breakfast burrito and Cinco was the only spot open that had them. I decided to give it a try, fully expecting to hate it. The burritos were FABULOUS. Not too big, not too small. Tasted like something Id make in my grandma’s kitchen. Two, big breakfast burritos with salsa and chips were only $ 14. I will be coming back. Dont make the same mistake i did and neglect eating here simply becuase of the exterior. Tasty stuff!

Update: Their menu prices have increased. As a regular, it is questionable if it is worth eating here as often now since their burritos are getting smaller and the prices are getting higher.

I love this place. It’s a great little CHEAP Mexican spot. If you’re looking for super attentive service you’re not getting it here. They are really nice but they are a neighborhood place. If you speak Spanish you might feel more comfortable here but it’s not El Torito folks. It’s way better than that! For the price you REALLY can’t beat it. I think I had breakfast with my BF and it was maybe $ 10? That’s pretty damn good for sit down! Their chile verde burrito is awesome. I randomly ordered it and it’s one of my favs. The rice is ridiculous. It doesn’t look like much but then you try it and woah. It’s not dry and has SO much flavor. I’m not a big fan of rice but I could eat this for days. I wish they made pozole at least on the weekends but that’s ok. Riviera’s has got that on lock. You have to try different things here. There are some hits and misses but overall it’s pretty damn good. And cheap. Again did I mention their cheap? And that folks is why I gave them 5 stars instead of 4 stars…

Food was amazing. Highly recommend it. I had steak and it was well seasoned and tender. Tip/Dip

Disappointed. Taco meat was kinda dry, mole enchiladas were very dry(like thick, partially dried paint) and lacked flavor you get from good mole, and that’s what my wife was actually craving til she saw it. My Chile relleno was OK, although it lacked flavor as well. Good prices, however still not worth it. Theres just way too many options in Long Beach to consider coming back. And to top it off… NOMIXEDDRINKMENU! How can a place claim to be authentic with no margaritas???

No wait, friendly staff, quick food, it was delicious. They bought out nachos and spicy dip before we ordered. Good service and patient with us as it was our first time. No cards accepted :-(

We have tried so many Mexican restaurants in Long Beach and found good but not one we just love… until we found Cinco de Mayo. The restaurant is wonderfully homey and the staff friendly and profession. We love the homemade food. We have tried the chili rellenos and combo fajitas. Both are amazing. They have many dishes including fish and other traditional meals. They even have breakfast! We will definitely be back soon!

I don’t know what happened to this place. 3 years ago it was fantastic. Last year it was still decent. We were in the mood for street tacos last night, so we popped back over, and… the tacos we got — chicken, pork and beef equally — were all super greasy and mostly flavorless(and still 2 bucks plus tax). And yes, their horchata is definitely just mix from a machine — you can now see the machine. I am pretty sad about all of this — they were our go-to spot for great tacos for a long time, but we’ll have to find a new place now.

Yummy chips and salsa to start. What we ordered: Mixed fajitas– a must order here! Seafood, chicken and beef for 12.95 $ wish they gave you more tortillas with it. Huge serving though! Carnitas burrito– meh. Wish it had more depth to it. Ordered a wet burrito and all I tasted was beans, rice and meat. I wish they put more veggies or other stuff into it. Quick, friendly service, clean restrooms. Always kept my water cup full, were very knowledgable about the menu and suggestions. Also if you enjoy Spanish soap operas, indulge here.

We love this place. The fish tacos are a great value, and the service is always attentive. I think it’s Long Beach’s most underrated Taco Tuesday location. They have nice touches of quirky décor – fresh flowers on every table today. If you live in the neighborhood, I’d say walk over – and the parking in the back is pretty open too.
