Cosmic Kites stole $ 75 from me. Don’t buy a Groupon or a Unilocal deal with them, they don’t care about you once they have your money. I bought a Unilocal deal with them for kitesurfing lessons and then spent more than a year and 60+ emails back and forth to never actually be offered a window to take a lesson(and I offered to meet during the week or on a weekend… so then am I to believe they never offer lessons, or just never to people who buy via their deals because they already have their money?) It then took more than a month of asking via email to get a response as to whether or not I could get my money refunded, which they have a policy against doing. So, instead of getting a lesson OR getting my money back, I’m left having lost the $ 75 I spent on this. As far as I know, that’s akin to theft. I’m in the process of reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. It’s unbelievably frustrating that people hide behind their businesses in such a way. I expected better from the good people I’ve met as a surfer for the last few years on Long Island, but hey there are always some bad apples.

Great customer service and prompt shipping. You can tell these guys love kiting and know their gear. I will definitely buy from them again.

Cosmic Kites is awesome! A couple of years ago I was trying to get into kite boarding so I bought a used kite from a shop down in Jersey.(This shop never should have sold me this mismatched unflyable gear.) As I was floundering with the kite one day in Long Beach, a friendly stranger came up and started giving me pointers. He even ran to his car and gave me some equipment to aid my kite for free!!! This guy ended up being Mike– the owner of Cosmic Kites. Eventually i gave up on the idea of trying to use the damaged gear that had been dished off on me and Cosmic set me up with a new kite that was appropriate for my size. I even did research on the web and saw that i was getting the best deal. Ever since that day I’ve gone back to Cosmic without any complaints. If you are a newbie don’t waste your time and money trying to teach yourself– I destroyed my first kite on a pier, lost my second in outgoing tide after I couldn’t relaunch it, and bought an unflyable used kite third. Very expensive and frustrating. Just go to these guys and they’ll train you and set you up with the right gear.
