Emerging Artists Musical Theatre Academy

Emerging Artists Musical Theater Academy has been a wonderful experience for my daughter. She loves to perform, sing and dance and Emerging Artists MTA has provided her ample chances to accomplish this. They offer summer camps, classes in voice and acting and provide many opportunities for performance. Each year they put on two stage productions, one in December and one in May. There is also a Performance Troop that performs in and around the Long Beach area at various venues. Their next show will be at the Orange County Fair in August. Emerging Artists MTA also participates in two Recitals with Kick it Up. Ms. Sonya and Ms. Missy both care deeply about the students and make classes a lot of fun while still making sure that the class accomplishes their learning objective of the day. My daughter currently takes the Monday 3:30 Acting for Film and Commercials class with Ms. Missy. Each week they make a movie that displays the concepts they were working on in class. For example, last week they made a horror movie exploring the idea of fear and how to express that idea for the camera. She also participates in the Performance Troop. Ms. Sonya teaches the students vocal techniques to employ with the songs they sing and dances to accompany the song. For example, the students perform One from a Chorus Line complete with hat, dance, and of course chorus line kicks. I would recommend Emerging Artists MTA to anyone interested in performing, building confidence skills, and just plain old having fun!

My son, Toby, currently age 5.5, has been attending classes since he was 3.5 years old. Sonya and Missy are amazing. They are true professionals. The way Sonya teaches the kids songs and choreography from plays is wonderful. Toby has gained confidence and an appreciation for the stage. He has performed in Annie Jr. And a musical review produced by Emerging Artists Musical Theatre and has loved every minute of it. They have added several new classes and Toby enjoys each class he takes. Missy has been instructing Toby in his acting for film, as well as comedy/​improv. Sonya and Missy are dedicated to their students growth and success in a caring and nurturing environment. I would highly recommend Emerging Artist Musical Theatre. I can’t say enough good things about them!
