Exotic House of Jerky

I stumbled across this place a while back when i was visiting Long Beach. When I walked in i was amazed of all the different types of jersey they have. Besides them having so many different types and flavors, they are very tasty. I don’t live close to Long Beach anymore so now I just order from them online. Super fast shipping and friendly service. I recommend this place to anyone that visits the Long Beach Boardwalk.

I love beef jerky and I recently tried alligator jerky and liked it very much. I searched online to see were I could buy some a couple of places I found would ship it to the home, but I like to support my local small businesses and I wanted to buy from them. So I found this place it’s a little bit of a drive but shoreline village is so lovely I didn’t care and drove to the place. There was a jazz festival so parking was tricky.
Found the place easily enough the lady at the front greeted me and was very nice.(feel bad I didn’t get her name) They have a big selection of jerly. They have animals that I didn’t think you could make jerky out of like mako shark. I went up to pay and the lady let me and my wife try some jerky. Like I said earlier she was very nice and made me feel welcomed can’t wait to go back.

I adore this place!!! My boyfriend and I come here everytime we are in DTLB… I love the selection on jerky this place has. There is always something new to taste when I come here. The bonus is if you take your receipt to the soao store you get free samples!

Mmmmmm… jerky!!! Great little spot to pick up some jerky. They have all sorts of exotic meats like python, ostrich, byson, kangaroo etc., as well as, the classic beef jerky in a variety of flavors. They give little samples of the beef jerky if you’re interested in trying them, too. I bought the sweet and spicy, which was yummy! In general, the prices are a little high, but the quality is great.

Lots of jerky selections. Helpful staff. The prices may be a bit high but for some exotic jerky, it is worth the price. The zoo pack is a great value for trying a bit of everything. The biggest con here is trying to get from the parking lot to this place. It’s a pain in the butt on a Saturday night. Go on a week day and you should be good! Try the kangaroo jerky, it’s way better than it sounds.

The store features jerky of various types, kangaroo, antelope and alligator, and many different flavors. I walked in to humor my boyfriend because I don’t eat meat.
I was pleasantly surprised when I found the veggie jerky section! They offer various flavors of soy jerky! Spicy, thai peanut, chili, spicy hot and plain are the ones I picked up. So far I’ve had the spicy and I loved it. I plan to go back and try the other flavors.
They offer samples, but not of the veggie jerky. The owner is really nice, and we had a great experience there. Would return.

I love the feel of the little boardwalk shop feel. We came out here to see what we could see, per se! You can get your parking ticket validated and pay $ 1. You’d think it would be free…
We love a good piece of jerky, so this shop caught our attention and in we walked. There is a great selection of jerky! We bought just 2 packs of Jerky. The Hot As Hell Ghost Pepper Jerky, it was hot, but I think it could be hotter. It does have a good flavor and it is tender. The other pack was for my son and his girlfriend… it was the Black Pepper Beef Jerky. They liked it!
When you check in on Unilocal,you get a free sample of Kangaroo Jerky, but they were out the day we went.
As far as jerky goes, we generally stick with beef. They have Alligator, Buffalo, Kangaroo, Wild Boar, & Venison.
When we come back this way, we will certainly be buying more jerky and might even be adventurous and try some exotic jerky!

O.K. so here we go was looking to do something different or not so different really. Have been here before and have had a good experience. But today I was happy I went to do my check in and seen the check in offer of a free Kangaroo sample which i was looking forward to sample. But when I got there I was told there where none. Bummer because I had have it many times many ways just not in the brand they had to offer. So I would have loved that sample. But I got some anyhow and was happy with the outcome. Plus the girl working there was nice besides the fact that she seemed lost when I showed here my check in offer on my phone. But they have a very good selection I got that and some alligator and.

The owner was really friendly and we got to try samples of different jerkys including Kangaroo which has been on my «to-​try» list for a while so I’m glad I got that done there! The jerkys themselves are pricey but they are definitely delicious and exotic!

Samples are offered, if I recall correctly samples are mainly for the –venison, kangaroo, alligator, and buffalo (not sure on the 4^th). I really wanted to try some of the alligator jerky, but it’s currently not in season.
I went for the variety bundle. The bundle will roughly run you $ 21.00.
Maybe it’s me, but I think the flavor was a bit more appealing on the larger sheets of jerky versus the strips and sticks that the bundle offered.

I’m not a huge jerky lover, unless it’s home cooked or something exotic. So this place covers the exotic. As mentioned in other reviews, there is everything from alligator to wild boar. Even some sea animal jerkies. Ahi and Marlin. They didn’t leave out the plant kingdom either. There were vegetable jerkies.
Prices are steeper here than what you will pay for at the local 7 – 11, but it wasn’t much different from other exotic/​gourmet jerky prices I have seen elsewhere.
I opted for Black pepper turkey jerky. Pretty good. I don’t like sweet jerky like everyone else does, so my options are usually limited since everything is teriyaki and sweet and sour. But this was nice. Not too sweet, very lean tasting. I did get one hunk that was gristle and not very chewable. I had to toss it.
Sadly, I did not like the Marlin jerky at all. I was SO excited to try it! and of course they did not have samples of this one, so I gambled and bought it. Bleh! It was sweeter than Hello Kitty and tougher than Calculus. Honestly, the pieces of jerky looked like slabs of plastic. And it was like trying to eat slabs of plastic. With sticky sugar on it. Oh, and the fishy smell that charged out of the bag turned off the other folks, and they refused to even try it. BUMMER!!!
Oh well. Win some, lose some. But they do have a lot of samples of other flavors, so you will know which one you like best. And they also offer a really fun selection of unique sodas.
Gourmet soda and gourmet jerky makes a fun snack by the water in Shoreline Village.

They have a bunch of different jerkies! I have tried a lot of different companies who make jerky and this jerky is by far one of the best. It was flavorful and tender. Kind of weird to rate jerky. but yeah. It’s good! Kind of pricey though, but considering the quality, its worth the price.

Was excited about reading the reviews on Unilocal so I bought the Unilocal deal couple hours before arriving.
The cashier lady said that I couldn’t use the coupon because.
1. I purchased it couple hours ago.
2. It has to be a printed out in order to use it (on Unilocal info it says that it can be printed out or can be used by showing you app phone).
3. Lady working at the counter couldn’t answer my question about a jerky but instead talked about some random out of the subject things.
4. Overpriced jerky.
5. A lot of the jerkys were sold out.
6. Some of the packages were dusty.
And I can go on and on with the list. I doubt that I will come here ever again.
Oh BTW, cashier lady told my friend the mushroom jerky sells well and people come back for more, well it was horrible jerky we have ever tried. Ewwwww, I still can taste that nasty after taste. Bleh!
Oh, BTW there is a parking lot but even with validation you still have to pay $ 1.

This is a small store at Shoreline Village, but this store has the most extensive types of jerky I’ve ever seen. My favorite is turkey jerky, but they even have kangaroo & alligator jerky. There was even pineapple jerky, which I’ve neer seen before. The salesguy was nice too.

Great beef jerky, but they carry all kinds, turkey, alligator, venison, yum!
They have wonderful samples to taste, which in my opinion, sold me, because it was so tasty! This jerky is very tasty, spicy, sweet, moist and large pieces — all good for you and made with your health in mind, which I am very into, so I will definitely be returning when in the area.

Nice little shop over in Shoreline village, just getting started it looks like (added a few new items between my first visit on Wednesday and when I stopped off on the way home Friday).
Good jerkys, with plenty of unusual items on both the drinks and the snacks (mushroom jerky anyone?). Staff was more than willing to let us try several samples of the different flavors they had — even the Kangaroo that they aren’t selling yet.
Much better product than what you find at the grocery, plus where else outside of Florida do you get to say you ate Alligator?

Gone are the days when my dad would make his own beef jerky for us. But luckily there are shops like this one around to appease your jerky cravings. The workers are friendly and the place was small but clean and organized.
As for the jerky itself. Prices were a bit steep, but hey, it’s jerky, what do you expect, right? They have all sorts of exotic meat like wild boar, venison, alligator, and buffalo. We sampled the boar which tasted much leaner than the beef jerky we’re used to. Only all natural ingredients go into making this jerky, and I know living in CA that’s very helpful to know.

Walked by on Jan 1^st and it was packed, didn’t realize it was grand opening. I wanted to see the store/​products so I came back on Monday (Jan 2^nd). Spoke to the owners and sampled the trout jerky, very good.
I purchased the 11 pack sampler (5 beef, 2 turkey, alligator, buffalo, venison and wild boar).
So, far every one I have tried have really tasted great and nice big pieces, not a bunch of small pieces in the packages.
The owners were extremely friendly and knowledgeable when I asked questions about the different products/​packages. They do mail order, so since I’m not local I can get it via mail.
Seems like a good location that gets a lot of traffic so wish them the best of luck.

Wow! Im in love with this place! This is the cutest little shop with the cutest owners! When I came in it was fairly busy. Even with a full house, all of my questions (mostly regarding the exotic jerky like alligator, buffalo, pheasant, venison…) were answered patiently. I didn’t even know they made things like alligator jerky! Anyways, the jerky was amazing as well as the service. But my favorite part was the soda! They had probably 30+ specialty sodas. I felt like a kid in a candy store. This place is very cool. I’ll be stopping by Exotic House of Jerky every time I drive though this part of town… and I’ll probably even make a few trips up that way, just for the jerky and soda. So happy to have found this place!
