Favorite Donut

My quest to visit every single donut shop in LBC continues. Stopped here on a Saturday afternoon and the place was empty. No music playing, no TV, nothing. Only the sound of an employee doing the dishes… I felt kinda odd being there.
The donuts here are pretty similar to the other ones in the area except that they were a bit more expensive. They were good but I wouldn’t say I was impressed or I’m eager to comeback for more. The buttermilk I tried was good and then glazed donut was also not bad.
Because of the prices I’ll keep going to my other donut spots in the the area.

We were traveling to a conference and had a craving for donuts. The name of this establishment immediately caught mein eye — favorite donut. If it proved to be accurate, I would be fulfilled.
True to its word, this place was great. Great owners. Great selection. Great donuts! Visit soon. It’s a must!

Terrible customer service and very rude… My bill was 3.10 and I gave him 4. He said thanks and just walked away. Do not just assume you get a tip. Give the customer their change and let them tip you if you want.

The old man behind the counter was a jerk and the dough nuts were nasty. I got a pink cake dough nut that lacked any sort of flavor. I also got dough nut holes for my daughter and she refused to eat them because they were so greasy they were juicy. Ive been to a lot of dough nut shops in my life and these were the worst dough nuts I’ve ever had. I don’t think they know how to properly make dough nuts. I will say they were the cheapest dough nuts in long beach. Needless to say I will not be back.

I come here a lot for coffee in the am. The coffee is just regular brewed coffee but the man that works here is so sweet! The donuts look and smell amazing but I have not tried one just yet but I will.

They changed their name to Miss Donuts. Very fresh and the apple fritters are huge! They accept credit cards with a 50 cent fee. I paid $ 8 for a dozen donuts.

We love this place! They have the most delicious breakfast sandwiches. We always get the bagel sandwich with ham, egg, and cheese. There are plenty of other bagel and breakfast sandwich shops near our house, but we choose to drive over instead. And they have great donuts and even scratchers (if you’re feeling lucky ;)

We came to a small selection on sunday afternoon, two kids of cronuts left, I went with the cookies and cream.
Honestly should have left it, everything already looked a bit old already.
The service also not stellar, no smile or real interaction at all.
The store is bigger than most donut shops with it’s own parking lot on the side, about the only plus here.
Would not bother to be back, their other offerings looked pretty lackluster as well.

Great selection of doughnuts, always fresh, cheap prices and very friendly service. So glad this place is right behind my apartment and on the way to work!

tried for the first time. blueberry and chocolate old fashion (or something…) taste good, soft and fresh. however too sweet.

I don’t buy donuts very often. I actually don’t remember the last time I was in a donut shop. Maybe like 10 years ago in college when Krispy Kreme was the next big thing? But somehow I found myself craving a donut with my morning coffee, so I hopped in the car, searched Unilocal,and this place popped up as the closest to me.
Fast forward to walking into the shop: First thing I notice is that the selection is kind of small. I picked out a few tried and true flavors: plain old fashioned (they also had sugar & chocolate glazed), round glazed, and round chocolate. I also saw one last blueberry donut in the corner and snagged that baby up. I remember reading that blueberry donuts are crazy popular right now, but I’d never tried one before. 4 donuts cost about $ 2.00, so the price seemed more than reasonable.
But how did they taste? Great! All the donuts seemed fresh. The old fashioned had a nice crispy outside and wasn’t too sweet. The blueberry had a soft cakey texture and wasn’t overly frosted. All in all, I was pretty satisfied. If you’re in the area, I’d recommend stopping by.

so i’ve noticed that long beach has an abundance of donut shops… most in close proximities to one another. i drive past about maybe 5 shops from my apt to the freeway before work… this one is no longer one of them, BUT i remember passing by it when i used to live on 4^th street. i’m not a big donut person, but i decided to treat the girls at work with some this morning. i am all about convenience and this shop is in a great location. i was in and out in 10 minutes. so great. AND the lady threw a free donut for me :) the blueberry cake donut!!! o my goodness! so delicious. i was a bit hesitant to try it at first because i thought it would be too sweet… but it wasn’t. sooo good. i might start eating more donuts going forward… and getting them from here!

Great place for donuts and ice cream. The apple fritter, which is the best donut ever made, is the best! But the really great think here is their fruit smoothies. We had mango, but they had other flavors, including avocado (?). Gonna try that one day. Super friendly, too.

Another Unilocal inspired review. Walking up to «Miss Donut» (they changed the name) was a little unnerving… seeing the health violation report on their window stating that they needed to keep up on their sanitation of equipment but all corrections were made. Never the less, I walked inside.
It was late morning on a Saturday, so the selection was
minimal compared to being an early bird. Ended up getting one of their ginormous cinnamon rolls and a chocolate and sprinkled covered doughnut. Both were really good, especially the cinnamon roll… super soft inside and very sweet. The sprinkled doughnut wasn’t greasy at all… quite moist inside as well. Along with what my wife got (a maple bar, custard filled doughnut, ham and cheese croissant and a large coke), the price came around 8 or 9 bucks… not bad at all.
This place also sells smoothies, ice cream and frozen drinks… including an avocado smoothie??? WTF??? I asked the woman working here for her honest opinion… does the avocado smoothie taste good? She said yes (as expected). I’m a little grossed out by the thought but intrigued enough to try it someday.

It says «Miss Donut» on the building now– but this is the same place I’m guessing.
I ordered two donuts and she threw in a donut hole on the house (gotta love freebies!). The donuts were fresh and soft– totally perfect.

Buttery, flaky on the outside, moist on the inside croissants the SIZE OF MY HEAD.
Need I say more?
(doughnut holes are also great… and doughnuts… I wish this place wasn’t so close to my apt…)

*ding ding ding* Hello 5^th star! The blueberry donut exceeded our expectations by a longshot! Seriously. the best ever.

So I was over stalking Sarah T (see her review of this place) during the wee hours of the morning and got really hungry. I walked in to this little place and got me a nice maple bar and cake donut with the white frosting. This is a good donut place. I don’t know what the individual shops do that the chain type places (yum yum and winchell i’m looking at you!) don’t but this is a quality donut store with friendly service.
Now I never stalk Sarah T anymore, I just bypass and go straight for the donuts. Sorry Sarah T., you’re old news.

The maple bar was delicious and cheap. The dough, itself, is very light and the maple was maple-​y. Outstanding.
She also threw in a few donut holes too.

I needed to bring sufganiot (Hanukkah donuts) to class and found Favorite Donuts on Unilocal,so I went… and it’s no big deal. They don’t bake donuts fresh all day, and they only had half a dozen jelly donuts (sufganiot are supposed to filled with something). So I had the woman behind the counter put in enough other donuts to make two dozen. She kept putting in ones with orange frosting, and nobody likes those, and not enough chocolate ones. Granted, I could’ve pointed out what I wanted, but c’mon, a seasoned donut employee should know how to mix things up… and that people really like chocolate.
I also asked if the donuts are fried in vegetable oil or lard. The woman behind the counter looked at me and said she had no idea what they use to make the donuts. Um… what? Nobody can tell me what’s in the food?
I had a lemon jelly donut — fair, jelly wasn’t evenly distributed — and a blueberry donut, which is a cake donut with blueberries in the dough. That was nice because it was unusual, but at no point was I all ZOMG Best Donuts Evarrr. That title still rests firmly with Donut Man («
;); when I think of comparing Favorite’s wares with even a plain glazed fresh from the glazing trough at Donut Man, well, no problem here driving right past Favorite.
