Me and The boyfriend love this place! We try to go as much as possible. Everything that we have tried is delicious! I usually get The beef empanadas, pollo picante! And the crepes for dessert. I wish I can eat there everyday. And they have the best Moscato!!! & Mojitos! I really can eat a lot! William is usually our sever he is great always on top of everything & makes us feel welcome. He is another reason we keep coming back. The owner is there all the time also always greeting tables and making sure everything is ok. The wait on the food sometimes takes a little long but it’s worth it. Can’t wait to be back!

Had a bad experience at this location. I had my friends birthday dinner reservation set for 7:30PM on 8÷19÷2015 for a party of 3. Our table was not ready and we weren’t seated until 8PM after ordering about 15 minutes after being seated our food took about 50 minutes maybe even an hour to be served. Now we did ask the waiter at about 45 minutes into our wait about our order and all he said was it’ll be 5 minutes. After waiting the 5 minutes we were served empanadas, which was a nice gesture. But after the empanadas we ended up waiting another 30 mins. Poor service that night. I guess better luck next time.

We came here for a dineLA dinner event, thus can only comment about the dineLA menu. The ambience here has a very chic-Spanish vibe and look. They have live music on most days, and fortunately there was a live guitarist/singer on Sunday night when we dined there. The menu for dineLA was great. I had a spinach and cheese empanada, that was OK, but better than most I have had lately. Then I had the rack of lamb, that was on a Marsala reduction sauce. It was very good, and the sauce truly brought out the flavors of the lamb, and made the whole meal a delicious treat for me as I am a huge fan of lamb! Dessert was chocolate mousse on a crispy sweet shell and a cherry on top. It was OK, because the mousse was too thick, and not light enough for me, but still had a good chocolate flavor. The wine here is a little expensive if you buy per glass, and I ended up paying $ 16 for a Malbec, and it should have been $ 13 as stated on the website. I am thinking maybe it’s because it’s more for wine on the dineLA menu. Perhaps I am wrong, who knows… Overall, friendly service, and I like that the owner(an elderly Argentinian gentleman) comes to your table to see how everything is, which is a great way to make your dinning experience more special. If you are in the Long Beach area, then I highly recommend this place for Argentinian food. Great spot for after dinner drinks and dessert.

I wanted to give myself some time before writing this review only because I wasn’t sure if it were fair to write after such a fresh experience. But even after giving myself some time to reflect, I still think back to my dining experience and can’t help but just shake my head and remember how terrible the service was. I had reservations for 2 at 830pm on a Friday night. I arrived at around 820pm and of course I expected a bit of a wait for them to get the table ready while I waited for my dinner date to arrive. Hostess came back around 835pm and approached the gentleman standing next to me and took him to his table. Then she came back and said she thought we were together– so she had given him my table. Honest mistake, but she should have approached me since I was the one who had initially spoken to her. No big deal– she sat me minutes later. My dinner date arrives and we ordered a couple of drinks and 3 empanadas for starters. Drinks arrive and empanadas do not. I asked the waiter to check on it. He said he would… Next time I saw him we ordered our entrees and another round of drinks. Entrees arrive about 30 – 40 mins later. 1 drink arrives. And the empanadas do not. And there was zero explanation on where they were, or where the other drink was. At this point, I was pretty annoyed to say the least. I also asked for some silverware since the table only had 1 set… I was left to eat my fish with a butter knife for half the meal, until somebody finally listened and brought a set out for me. After almost being done with the meal, the waiter brings out 1 empanada. Just 1. Said it was on the house. …that’s nice I guess. Along with a basket of bread. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the bread is usually given at the very beginning right? After we finished the meal, they brought out a dessert dish and said that was also on the house. While I appreciate the gesture, I would have much rather have gotten decent service. You know– get what I ordered. Have silverware to eat with. Pretty basic stuff I think. I had only been here 1 other time before, and my experience then with service was not up to par, but I remembered the food being really good. While the food is definitely good… I would not come back here– EVER.

I made reservations on Open Table over a week in advance, knowing Saturday is a busy night for restaurants. 2 of our 4 person reservation arrived on time for our reservation and checked in. The other two arrived within 10 minutes. We requested to sit inside. The hosts looked like they had absolutely no system for seating tables. I checked in several times with one of the two ladies running the front desk. Each time they told me «give us just a minute». We were finally sat at 7:40, outside. I cannot understand how a place can take reservation and cannot at least honor the times within reason. Moreover, no one apologized for the missed reservation time. The food was fantastic and our waiter was on point. The chimichurri was excellent. I would definitely recommend the skirt steak and empanadas. The sangria was not great. I love sangria, this tasted like something you’d drink at a frat party. Overall, I cannot imagine going back to this restaurant unless is was during off hours.

Delicious! From the rice to the sangria and meats — delicious!!! Service was great, food was amazing, sangria — delightful! We came here intentionally for dinela but after looking at the reviews on Unilocal,I had to try the Noquis a La Bolognesa(cheese stuffed gnocchi bolognese) and it was well worth the visit. We also tried the Entrana a La Parrilla and kids chicken plate both with rice and they were cooked to perfection. We WILL be back. Yes indeed :)

If I was reviewing just the food I would have definitely given them 5 stars the food was awesome I had the spinach dip appetizer which was really good but they didn’t have any kind of bread to put the spinach dip on or chips. For the main course I have the filet mignon which was absolutely delicious but overall the dish was lacking in style. The potatoes tasted a little funny. But the grilled vegetables on the side were very tasty if just a little oily. For dessert I had a rolled crêpe with caramel sauce that was absolutely die for it was sin itself. It was absolutely incredible even though I was full i finished the entire thing and wanted more. The only draw back was I’m sure just a fluke but the service that night was horrible we received two appetizers waited almost 10 minutes for the other 2 appetizers to come out to our table. Me and my father both received our filet mignon and Sat and waited for my mom and my sister to receive their lack of lamb the waiter had gotten our order wrong and had ordered one of them a filet mignon and one of them a rack of lamb both of which were not ready they corrected the order split the filet mignon between the two of them and waited another half hour for the two rack of lamb to be served at the table I mean it’s nice to get the mistaken filet mignon meal for free but our service was horrible and they should have discounted the four meals that we did have instead of just giving them the one mistake that they made. I’m not sure that I would actually try this place again with anybody that I was trying to impress because of how horrible the service was. For a table or four. But if it’s just me I think I would definitely have to go back the food itself was incredible.

Exactly what I expected from an Argentine Steakhouse — really good steak! Had a Groupon so I splurged and tried the Lomo Argentino(filet mignon), with the Calamari Fritti to start. The calamari was done perfectly, nice and tender, as was the filet mignon(done medium-rare as requested). I love their house salad dressing. I was there on a Saturday night but earlier(6pm) in the evening so they weren’t really busy yet. Service was great and my food was well timed but not rushed. This is a fairly small restaurant, probably not great for groups over 6 or 8. The restaurant also has a very nice, relaxed vibe with beautifully done interiors and a nice patio. There’s also a small bar area. I’ll definitely be back.

We came here on a Monday night. When I first called, I asked if I needed reservations, and they said«oh yes!», however when we arrived, we were the first ones there and by the time we left, there were only a few other customers. Parking is only available in the nearby city parking lots, so be ready to pay for parking! One of the reasons we wanted to try this place was because of their Parrillada platter, which is a meat platter for two. I had a $ 50 gift certificate from Open Table. When I looked this restaurant up on Unilocal,it showed that they were offering a free appetizer. When I asked about it, they said we couldn’t get it since I was using a gift certificate, which they called«a coupon». They also said we couldn’t take advantage of their happy hour since we had a «coupon». That really sucked because the wine was $ 5 per glass versus $ 10 at the normal prices. If these are their rules, they should clearly state that on Unilocal or their website — that you can’t enjoy happy hour or any of their specials if you’re using a «coupon». The waiter ended up giving us a free glass of wine and a free dessert, and I don’t know if that’s because he could’ve really given us all the specials to begin with and wanted to look like a hero and get a bigger tip in the end… or if those are really the rules and he was just a nice guy giving us some free stuff. Now regarding the food, my husband & I split the Parrillada(meat) platter for two, which came with your choice of sides. While the platter was large(we couldn’t finish it all), the meat itself was just okay. It lacked seasoning and flavor. I wouldn’t come back for the food.

Go to this restaurant if you are looking for a beautiful dining experience. My date took me to this awesome restaurant and I was impressed by the romantic atmosphere. The red argentine house wine was elegant. I ordered the Grilled salmon paired with mash potatoes and rosemary grilled zucchini. The Lemon sauce on the fish was so tasty with ever mouth watering bite. The service was flawless. Live soft Latino guitar set the most romantic setting. It was the perfect date place or just a perfect overall dining experience. I’m looking forward to trying the steak dishes in my next visit. This restaurant has moved to #1 in my list!

Delicious! And for the groupon rate definitely a steal! Parking is free for two hours on Pine/3rd just a block away from the restaurant! PROS: EMPENADAS, price with groupon, staff The empenadas are to die for! For 3.50 each the price is pretty reasonable! The spinach and cheese ones(very similar to a spinach artichoke dip, flavor wise) were my favorite, followed by beef! Full of great spices and a lot of filling! The chicken empenadas were just okay but nothing extraordinary like the other two empenadas! The price with a Groupon is the best! For $ 15 we were able to get a full meal for 2! The staff was extremely attentive during our visit, refilling bread and water! Ask for William, definitely a very nice waiter full of passion and not to mention with great suggestions! CONS: salt level of the steak The steak we ordered was cooked to perfection, but OVERSALTED! Other than that no real complaints our time at gaucho grill was great! OVERALL: I will definitely be back for the empenadas! It is worth the drive from Pasadena a to eat them! This place is definitely worth a try if you have a groupon! :)

My wife brought me out here for date night. We got there and noticed it was empty. Not sure if it was the time of day or the actual day itself. We sat outside I the patio area right in front of the restaurant. Our waiter was friendly and have opinions and recommendations. That’s always a plus when trying a new place. We looked over the menu and started with a caprice salad. They bring bread out to your table as well to enjoy as your food comes out. The salad was fresh but my wife is more of a fan then I am. For dinner I had the lamb cooked medium that came with a salad and some grilled veggies. The lamb also had a red wine sauce on it that was sweet and tasty. Meet cooked to perfection and was very good. My wife had a steak salad that she enjoyed. Cool place to try out.

The Entraña a la Parilla(skirt steak) is first rate, everything else food wise is okay, and service is erratic at best if you’re with a large group. Entraña a la Parilla(10 oz. Grilled Angus Skirt Steak) — If you’re going to order beef here, don’t get fancy and order a more expensive cut, because this is where it’s at. The skirt steak full flavored, extremely tender and bursting all over with natural juiciness. Apply the given chimichurri sauce to make it even better. Served with your choice of two sides. I opted for black beans and rice and they were fine. The steak itself is a 5 star dish. We came with a large party and Gaucho Grill was not equipped to handle the traffic. While servers were constantly checking on our water levels(a good thing), half of the other drinks we ordered either didn’t make it out or made it to the table 45 minutes later, during which we got confused, and re-ordered drinks again. Also, the last person who arrived in our group got their food first, while people that arrived 30 minutes before that person had to wait 15 minutes after that to get their dish. On average dishes took about 45 minutes to an hour to arrive. We didn’t really stress over it because we were going to be there for awhile, just hanging out. Unfortunately the drinks that never arrived ended up hurting us all, as most of them appeared on the check. The server said some people could pay on their own tab so that they could leave first, that was cool, but then those dish charges($ 50) weren’t removed from the large final bill. Also drinks that we ordered that never arrived showed up on the final bill. We had a group of 25 but the estimate was that we were overcharged $ 60-$ 100. I’m not one ask for shortcuts or handouts, but given how large our group was and how their staff missed a number of orders(our bill was about $ 700-$ 800), the restaurant probably should have offered to remove half of the charges on the disputed items. I’m sure it’s fine coming with a party of four, but I personally would be hesitant coming here with a party of 8 or 10. Most of the other dishes we tried were not bad, but none particularly stood out. These dishes included: Polla Picante Empanadas Argentine Favorites(appetizer sampler) Vegetariano Sandwich Ñoquis a la Bolognesa Like everyone else says, order the skirt steak. I just wish our group’s overall experience had been better. I ended up paying $ 60 for a margarita and a skirt steak. That’s a lot more than it should have been.

Lovely restaurant. This is definitely a great place for a romantic date night. The dimly lit restaurant invites all who enter to fall in love with the Hispanic art paintings and red interior décor. With candles and perfect lighting, this little gem is going to be a favorite. The skirt steak is AMAZING. My hubby and I paired our enormously huge meat platter with mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. Everything was tasty. This restaurant is definitely a thousand steps above the mediocrity of most local steak houses and brings a Hispanic culture extravaganza courtesy of a Argentine background. On Saturdays the live music adds even more value to the ambience of class and culture nestled in the heart of downtown Long Beach. Also the customer service was beyond expectations. From the moment we arrived, every employee who passed our sight made sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. So disregard any other reviewers opinion, this place is top notch class and service.

This was my first time at the Gaucho Grill. I bought a Groupon, but I hadn’t used it, yet so I was excited to come here for a private birthday party the other night and try it out. The ambiance was really nice. The place is fairly small, like many restaurants along Pine Avenue, but they make good use of their space. I loved their covered patio. It was well lit and warm and they had a good amount of seating. Our party was large, maybe 30 people, and we had most of the patio to ourselves, but we did share with other tables around us. When we had arrived to the restaurant, the group/party was in full swing. Everyone had pretty much ordered appetizers and drinks and we were forewarned by our group that it may take awhile for us to get our food. Boy were they not kidding! It took awhile for the server to come around to us again. I guess they figured that they had already taken all the orders, but it would have been nice for them to come around sooner to check and see if they had any new arrivals. The server was really nice and attentive nonetheless. I order a mango martini and a beef empanada appetizer. As time went on, our group started to get their food. Some of the plates were wrong and the owner tried his best to make it right. That alone I appreciated, because he could have been rude or just said sorry and walked away. Instead, he insisted on taking the plate back to the kitchen and when he brought the plate back out – very quickly, I might add – folks had smiles on their faces. I asked him about my one empanada and he said it was coming right out. When he came back after about 10 more minutes(so a total of an hour for one empanada), he had three on the plate. He said that it was on the house and apologized profusely for the wait. Awesome service! He gave me my beef one and then I got to try the spinach and cheese one, which I absolutely loved! The beef empanada was very flavorful… so much so that I wanted a pan all to myself. Some of the folks in our group complained of the meat being too well done and dry and I could see that it was. That’s always a bummer, especially when you are spending a lot of money on food and as Unilocalers, we expect good food. I would give them three stars, but the service was really good and they were very insistent on correcting their mistakes. I would complain about the slow service and slow arrival of the food, but I know that we did have a big group, as well and they had a lot of other tables that they were serving, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt. In all, I would definitely try this place out again. I really liked what I did try and the drink was delicious!

Food is excellent. I’d rate 4+ stars. Menu is a wide selection of Argentine /South American food with several steak, chicken, fish or other dishes to choose from. Drinks are good and prices are reasonable for the area and quality. Cocktails about $ 11 and beers 6 – 7. Sangria 8 – 9 but I only needed 1 + a beer for 3 hours. Drinks were very tasty and I saw the same basic beer three doors down for $ 3 more. Environs is pretty good — you’re dining Al fresco on Pine St in Long Beach which is a pretty happening scene, so you get both the city feel and the feeling of being outdoors without it being too loud or uncomfortable. Perfect for a 60 – 70 degree night, and they also have warmers if it gets a bit more chilly than that. They also have an indoor dining room with 12 – 15 tables if intimate is more your style. Service gets 1.5 stars for our night out. Every plate took 45 minutes, appetizers took 30 – 45 minutes also, and some people who came a few minutes late were still waiting to order for another 20+ minutes or were never given menus or greeted by a waiter. Even if you went to the bar and tried to pay they kept putting bar tab on the main tab. By the end(3 hours) nobody knew who ordered what our what was already paid at the bar and what wasn’t. There was supposed to be a free appetizer for check in(1 per party), I doubt it ever got credited to the bill. Seemed like 1 – 2 items never came, I’m sure they were still on the bill. Wait staff had no idea who ordered what, they would just come to the general area and shout out orders which is ridiculous for 25 people who can’t hear if more than 5 feet away. At some point they brought out a gnocchi entrée($ 17) which belonged to nobody, either wrong order or that person gave up on it and ordered something else, or never got their food and had to leave. It was not delivered to our table but I doubt it ever came off the check. Two people had a separate check and paid their exact amount and ran no problem, another 5 – 6 of us who were a side table and ordered separately and thought we were on a separate check were not given one. Everything was just billed as 1 check which made divvying up and paying for 26 people painful even though most had cash. Allow people who came together to pay together and avoid the headache… Bar service was not much better, it took 15 minutes to get a drink with 5 people at the bar and they were out of several mixers, which was a problem and added to the lag because people had to figure out their order. Single cash register only at the far end and every printout takes a couple of minutes. If you ordered at the table it would take 15 – 20 if it came at all, but the bar was not a much better option. Live music on a Friday night ranged between OK/whatever to boring to depressing. Would not recommend, but if they’re playing then sit outside if you don’t really want to hear it as much. If you have a large party, more than 10, think twice about coming here. Otherwise it’s not too bad but for almost the same money you can go to a churrascaria and try it all. At least my belly was full. Mmm meat. Wait service 1.5 Bar service 1.5 Food quality 4.5 Taste 4 Drinks 4.5 Price 3.5 Environment 3.5 Overall 3.28571428571…(cool math bro!)

A new great find. A big thanks to the husband for getting this Groupon a while ago. I had no idea what to try at this Argentinian establishment. I never had Argentinian food before. Considering my taste buds have grown so much since I was younger, I didn’t mind giving it a shot. Another cause in delay was location. It’s not super close, and it’s around the section I hate dealing with in regards to parking and the usual crazies, and then coming home I usually end up on LB Blvd where I think I am going to die.(I do recall a recent article about a section on that street being the deadliest part of the city). Anyways, after a recent disaster with finding parking and dealing with crazies when going to the Federal Bar for Restaurant week, I was groaning before we left. I figured I better get this over with in order not to lose another deal. We drove down several streets that had lots of parking but all meters. I always figure it is quarters only and skip them. I finally turned on a street and my husband looked and they did take cards. We parked and walked over. It turns out we arrived about fifteen minutes too early.(Once again the hours on Unilocal were wrong or not updated). At least we did not have to wait long. My husband asked if I wanted to run to Starbucks but I didn’t feel like gulping it down. We waited outside until it opened. We had a choice of outside or inside seating. The weather was nice so I chose outside. It seemed like everyone had the same idea as they came in later. I decided to finally try gnocchi(Noquis A La Bolognesa). I never had it, and was not in a big hurry. To this day I can’t get that wacko Amy from Amy’s Baking Company out of my head from Kitchen Nightmares. «Knee-o-kee» «My knee-o-kee is good!» This one was stuffed with cheese and served with Bolognese sauce. My husband got the Pollo Al Carbon(½ grilled chicken on the bone) with white meat and roasted veggies. He chose mashed potatoes as his side. I did almost try a few of their ravioli options but I wanted something new. We were first served bread with chimichurri sauce on the side. The bread was very moist and the sauce was tasty! We ordered an empanada for an appetizer. We chose chicken. My husband loved the empanada more than any he has tried. I almost wish we got two so that we could try another flavor. The food did not take long. My portion did not look huge but it filled me up! I am sure with it being potatoes it helped, but then again don’t take my word for it. My appetite is still lacking and I’m finding it hard to finish off most plates these days. Good for my waistline, not good that I bring a lot of leftovers and don’t eat them later because I am on my other food schedules or the husband needs more food because he does not have left overs and well, I join him. The gnocchi was delicious though and I was able to barely finish it. My husband’s plate was huge in portion. He really enjoyed his meal and the pieces I tried were yummy. The servers were definitely on top of refills. We were never without a drink, and they kept encouraging us to stay and take a break. That you don’t hear every day. I had to go though so we left after a bit.(Once my husband finished his ginormous plate of food). This worked out in regards to parking and driving too. I ended up back where I came.(The one way streets steer us in the wrong direction a lot as I am not here often) and the parking was very adequate for a Sunday morning. I told him I would be willing to try the other places nearby that he considered getting Groupons for after this smooth experience with parking and driving. I am a fan and would definitely come back.
