Island Dermatology

I visited Island Dermatology because a friend recommended them. The receptionists behind the front desk were polite and very helpful. I was a bit nervous since I was having Botox for the first time but I was quickly put at ease with the amazing staff! Dr. Tutrone took the time to listen to me and gave me his expert opinion on what he thought was best for me. I actually saved money by adhering to his advice! There is no more running to the city for me! I was so pleased that I went back and had my lips done!

I was a new patient.
My feeling is they overbook and don’t care that people wait too
long to be seen.
On my third and final visit yesterday, four people walked out of the office before
being seen because they were so aggravated after waiting over an hour.
When I spoke to the doctor, she seemed totally disinterested that
she lost 5 patients.
I look forward to finding a new doctor next time.

From the doctors to the staff, this place is the WORST.
I originally here as a patient of Dr. Glashofer, who was phenomenal. Once he left the office, I tried Dr. Falcon. He is nice enough, but he missed three different melanomas on my body. How does a dermatologist miss not one, but THREE different spots.
Then I read on their website that a new doctor, Dr. Tutrone, joined their practice. I made an appointment with him, and he had ZERO bedside manner. He operated as if he was an army drill sergeant, and gave a very cursory examination of my skin. Considering that I have a history of melanoma, you would think that he would have done a more thorough examination. He was rude to me and to his nurse, and made a derogatory comment to her while I was in the room.
I felt that he did such a bad job, that I made an appointment the same day to see a different dermatologist. Sure enough, I had a melanoma on my scalp that he missed.
Lesson learned, if you want a doctor who knows what they are doing, DO NOT GO HERE.
Additionally, they always run late for the appointments and the front desk staff does not care. When you finally get brought into a room, you have to listen to show tunes playing at too loud of a volume.
I also had a problem with their billing department, and the lady hung up on me. This place is a joke, go someplace else.

I couldn’t imagine going to any other dermatology office! I’m really surprised by some of the reviews on Unilocal in regards to this business.
When I first began coming to Island Dermatology (when they were located in Massapequa) I was paired with a dermatologist who didn’t quite understand my needs. She prescribed me medication that was too strong for my face and caused my eyes to swell shut (the main side effect I was trying to prevent). Being that there are several doctors at this location I decided to see another dermatologist from that point on. I’m a little surprised as to why the other Unilocalers hadn’t thought to seek medical attention from another doctor in the office as well. After switching to another doctor at that location, I was paired with Dr. Cerveny and have been seeing him since. I would say I’ve been a patient of his for over 4 years.
I now live on the North Shore and I travel to Amityville to continue to be a patience of his. Their new location is about 40 minutes from me but I continue to remain a patient because I am happy with my service and with my doctor. I only need to follow up with Dr. Cerveny once a year but he is so great! He is so nice! He is also professional and listens to his patients– visits are not rushed.
Every time I come in for my appointment I wait a max of 5 minutes– no big deal! Even with the new system they installed I was there during that time and I didn’t wait nearly as long as some have stated. The ladies behind the desk are always friendly and kind. I’m really thankful to have found such a great dermatologist. Call and ask to see Dr. Cerveny :)

Dr. Falcon is amazing — one of the best doctors I’ve ever been to. He didn’t hesitate for a second to answer all of my questions. I did wait a bit in the room but it was absolutely worth it when I realized it was truly just his commitment to his patients. I am confident in everything he told me and what he prescribed. Great at what he does most importantly, also really pleasant to talk to.
The office is also quite advanced with also the administrative stuff all done via iPad. I recommend him for anyone who needs a dermatologist, even if you don’t live in Long Beach.

Dr. Falcon is a great dermatologist. !!! If you ever need one in Long Beach He’s the one doctor I trust! My family and I have been going to him for 20 yrs!
