K & H Turf Landscape Treecare

If I could give this less than one star I would. If you feel like throwing your money away on a landscaping job that won’t even last a year look no further. This may just be your guy. At the time of the interview/​estimate the owner of K and H Turf and Landscape Maintenance (Kevin Hughes) which works out of his home located at 7233 Rosebay Street in Long Beach, CA ensured me he would stand behind his work once completed and offered future support anytime I needed it. In consideration of his offer and promises I paid seven thousand dollars ($ 7000) to K and H Turf and Landscape Maintenance for a complete front yard landscape even though I had other multiple bids for thousands less. I wanted a quality job and after listening to Kevin’s sales pitch I felt confident I would get it. WRONG! The sod looked great once it was laid down. However, a few months later the lawn started dying out and high and low spots appeared. He completed the job in Sept 2014 and by early June 2015 just nine months later a third of my lawn was completely dead and/​or dying. Multiple plants in the flower beds have also died. Confident Kevin would guide me and/​or assist in a solution to the problem as promised I called on him. After weeks of waiting for him to come by to evaluate the situation it only got worse. When he finally did show up he offered absolutely nothing to remedy the situation. His answer was he didn’t know why it was dying and that was it. He suggested I apply lawn nutrients ($ 50 worth) and was on his way which I did with no results. I have contacted him multiple times since via email and phone messages and have received no response whatsoever. He got his money and was down the road. A sales representative from the sod company stopped by as well and was about as helpful as Kevin was with no solutions. However, without admitting whose fault it was he implied it was most likely due to preparation more than any other factor. However, in his defense it is not his responsibility as I did not hire him. I hired K and H Turf and Landscape. After several weeks of continued attempts to contact Kevin for a follow up I have received no return emails, courtesy calls, visits or support as promised. I specifically asked for a follow up from him in two of the emails and have heard nothing. This exemplifies his lack of character, integrity and professionalism. After consulting with an alternative landscape contractor who evaluated my situation he concluded that the dying turf suggests improper pre-​sod preparation which should include a soil amendment and conditioner among other preparation methods. The turf now has high and low spots as well which suggest inferior preparation. This evaluation was from a alternative professional landscaper with more than twenty years experience. The lawn was also inspected for lawn insects which could possibly contribute to the problem as well and found none. The simple fact is K and H Turf and Landscape Maintenance does inferior work and DOES NOT stand behind their work. I gave Kevin every opportunity to respond and he chose not too. In addition, before my job was even completed I recommended Kevin to a neighbor in the community of which he was hired to landscape his front and backyard. One would think after a recommendation like that he would go out of his way to assist or accommodate a customer with a helpful solution who had recommended him. I will be posting this review and passing on this information on numerous other social media sites as well as word of mouth in hopes that this review will help others to make an informed decision when hiring a landscape contractor. Landscapers are a very competitive business and there are numerous ones to choose from. Take this knowledge and use it to your best advantage. You can draw your own conclusions and make the decision that’s right for you. My best advice would be to stay away from K and H Turf. I hope this helps with your landscaping needs. Good luck!
UPDATE: The neighbor I recommended to K and H Turf for his landscaping needs has his own problems. Kevin did his lawn after completing mine and as of now it looks worse than mine! Sorry but I wouldn’t recommend this landscaper to my enemy.

Kevin Crew shows up Like Clock work each and every time, The only Negative factor that I have is that Kevin does not call you back, or act like he cares to much, Other than that I have had wonderful service from the guys, and THEY DO A GREAT JOB, CLean up after themselves, and never ever have to worry about them not showing up cause they do like clock work,
