My boyfriend and I just moved to long beach and we were craving something with pineapple, so we spotted this spot by our house and had to try it. I have to say I was so satisfied ! Very delicious ! I really don’t eat bread but when ever I crave bread I head on over here !

I’ve purchased 3 cakes from here in the past few months and I never leave disappointed. I’ve received so many compliments on each cake and everyone ask where I get them from. The tres leches cake is so delicious and the perfect texture, even people who don’t like tres leches cake fall in love with their cake! Amazing decorations, bring them an idea and most likely they can do it. Pricing is super reasonable, cakes are big! And customer service is always on point, very sweet. I found my cake home.

Wonderful place, every time I go in I’m greeted with a smile and any assistance I need. All the baked goods are fresh and taste so good. The prices are reasonable and the quality is superb. You can tell the love and care they put into their business and I’m so glad its been part of the community for many years. I highly recommend Katy’s for your next birthday cake or just some great sweet bread.

This place smells amazing even if you’re walking past by it. The staff was very nice and friendly. Bought a vanilla cake for my nephew’s birthday and it was soo good. Will be returning for a customized cake in the future.

Got my boyfriends cake here. Tell me this doesn’t look amazing. I called the day of and they had it for me the same day for an amazing prize. Can’t wait to return for his next bday!

HORRIBLE customer service. I ordered a custom cake for my daughter’s 100^th day party. I chose the STORK DELIVERY cake. On the «sample cake» it read BABY HAPPY BIRTHDAY. So I advise the salesperson that I need it to be JOY, HAPPY 100 DAYS. Easy instructions right? I even wrote it on the order invoice to make sure it was JOY instead of BABY.
On the day of, I go and pick up the cake for the party. It’s already 6:30pm. When the clerk opens the box to show me… LORD, behold! It reads INSTEAD OF JOY BABY HAPPY 100 DAYS. .
Omg omg I was speechless!!! I wish I took a picture of it cuz it was insanely unbelievable. I didn’t know whether to cry or laugh! the two workers there helped me wipe the cream off n rewrite it correctly. the decorator had already left. I demanded to speak to the manager but she didn’t pick up. Not really having a choice, I paid and left. I let them know that the manager had to compensate me somehow.
Next day I call, the manager is not available and the clerk tells me she talked to the manager and there’s NOTHING she can do because technically I paid for the cake. That makes sense, but BUT I literally had no choice because I was counting on THAT specific cake and it was late. I told her to have the manager named NORMA call me back. After a few days of no call back, I called again and finally spoke to the manager. She said I paid and that the clerks fixed it for me on that day and it was fine. I explained to her that they didn’t have a choice but to make the situation BETTER but that they weren’t professional decorators and that it was a bit messy and there was so rough edges. She said that I paid so technically that it’s my fault.
I wish she felt a little apologetic or offered me a small discount or even a small free cake or just SHOWED a little sympathy. NOTHING. she was cold and heartless as if it was MY FAULT. I told her I’d have no choice but to share my story on Unilocal and she said «YOU GOTTA DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO.» ??? what kind of manager says thAt ?
This really makes a good story during the dinner because never will I ever have the words INSTEAD OF on a cake again. My friends laughed so hard when I told them.
end of story: Don’t waste your money on custom cakes here because if anything goes wrong on THE DAY OF they turn their heads and look the other way. On special occasions, you need to make sure nothing goes wrong!!!

The staff are very friendly and helpful. They didn’t have the cake and design I wanted but they worked with me and my son’s cake turned out really good. The cake was delicious also. I have always gotten my son’s birthday cake costume made and by far this place was the best and affordable. Thanks guys till next year :)

Norma is awesome! I ordered a custom round marble cake for a co-​worker and everyone loved it. So moist and delicious. Will def order a custom cake again from Katy’s. The art work was a giant baseball with a royal blue «LA» in the middle. The buttercream was so tasty! Thanks again :)

Just wanted to express how completely satisfied with the ½ sheet birthday cake, I had an idea of what I wanted and Norma was more then compliant to assist me she asked me to email photos and made it happen I really have to say the cake was moist and delicious not overbearing on sweetness.
This is the second birthday cake I’ve ordered here and it shall not be the last.
Thanks to Norma and her baker the experience was an overall success.

I had placed an order over the phone which i thought was great, i was afraid i would have had to come in and place the order in person. I ordered a tres leches cake that said Happy Birthday Steve, Phil and Luna with a Virgo symbol. My fiancé picked up the cake and when it arrived, i noticed that it did not say Happy Birthday and they misspelled Steve’s name even though i confirmed the correct spelling of each name over the phone. Instead, it was spelled Eteve LOL. On the bright side, everyone thought it was pretty hilarious and loved the cake. I would have liked it to have said Happy Birthday, this may be a concern to others though so i thought i’d mention it. Be sure to check your cake upon pickup! Also, their website says they deliver in the About US section but when i asked about it, they said they don’t deliver so that was a little confusing. They should really update information on their site to avoid confusion. I would still recommend this business to a friend.

We were looking for a new bakery for my sons 10^th birthday. We had tried and were disappointed by so many bakeries in the Long Beach area, but the reviews for Katy’s bakery were positive that we gave it a shot. I went into the bakery to order my cake. It was clean and the staff was very helpful. I had to email them a picture of the design we wanted, and got a confirmation back that they had received the picture. The cake was moist and delicious. It got many compliments from our guests. Most importantly, everyone ate the cake! (versus the last cake we got somewhere else that ended up in the trash can).
The only negatives I have are 1) there was too much whipped cream on the cake. 2) I had already pre-​paid for the cake ($ 35 + .50 transaction fee = $ 35.50), but when my husband picked up the cake they tried to charge him $ 36.00!

I’ve been coming here for as long as I can remember. The sweet bread is super cheap and delicious. The tres leches cake is the best! I recommend preordering. They’re super flexible and accommodating to your ideas. The ladies are always super nice too.

What an amazing place. Very friendly clean and tasty. I got this cake for my daughter’s 5^th bday. I was scared since I had never been here nor did I know anyone who had. But this was was a great hit from Unilocal.I am very pleased with the clake. Tasteful, fresh fruit and moist. Some places it comes out dry or hard but this did not. It was great. Thanks for the great cake. Oh and did k mention a great price. Will deffinitly make the trip back here for my next cake.

Very down to earth, home style neighborhood bakery. Beautiful looking cakes. Very TASTY breads and OMG, so inexpensive. I had a jalapeño/​cream cheese crescent roll and it was fantastic and satisfying. Cost? $ 1. Yes. Really.
I have to say that the customer service was also superb. These people are very friendly. This isn’t my neighborhood and I stuck out like a sore thumb. No worries though. The staff was friendly and very helpful — sweet really.
Yes, Katy’s is a must-​try. It’s worth the drive.

This is an average Mexican bakery. They make good bread but definitely not the best. I would prefer the bolillos from Superior market any day, and they are cheaper there too! My mom has tried the masa for tamales here and thought it was also average.
Ive been coming here because its a short drive for me and because I want to support the local business. Its also very clean and organized and that’s a big plus. But, if I found another bakery around that was just as clean, and consistently had great bolillos and conchas I would definitely jump ship.

I was looking for a place that made awesome celebration cakes in Long Beach and since this bakery got such glowing reviews I decided to give it a try. And I’m so glad that I did. Norma, who took my order on the phone, was so informative, helpful and accommodating. Even though I couldn’t come in in person she let me email her the photo I wanted on my cake and pay on the phone.
My cake was all ready for pick up as scheduled. But most importantly, everyone at the party loved it. And the cake itself was so moist and not cloyingly sweet. Even those at the party who usually scrape the frosting off cake ate the whole thing. Afterward, everyone asked me how I found this bakery. Such a great find.
Would definitely use them again for my celebratory cake needs!
