Awful! He hurt me. Will never go there again. Loved Eva though

Been going here for 6 years now they’re awesome! Dr. Cocchi is thorough and to the point and doesn’t BS you. Not too fond of the hygienists though. One is too friendly and talks way too much while getting your prophylaxis and the other hygienist is not friendly enough and way too quiet.

I’m so happy to have found Dr. Cocchi. The building is a little run down, but the office itself is clean and welcoming. Eva, the receptionist is very sweet and doesn’t rush you around like many other dental or medical front office staff. The dental hygienist, Sharon, is very gentle and did a great job of keeping me occupied when she knew I was nervous. My examination with Dr. Cocchi was thorough and he made sure to explain my future care instructions with detail and ask me if I had any questions. The whole team is great. I hadn’t been to the dentist in over 4 years and I was nervous about getting lectured for not taking better care of my teeth, but I walked away with a pleasant experience and no fears about coming back in the future.

Like M.M. who had difficulty getting Dr. Cocchi to help her because she had an HMO. I think the 5 star reviewers have great insurance. I lost my lower dentures to a dog eating them… Wanted to get a new set. He came in, ran his gloved finger in my mouth and said he couldn’t do it. Recommended a high priced specialist and sent me on my way.
I believed him and thought I wouldn’t be able to eat again. Decided to go to another dentist. He said there would be no problem getting dentures… He took x-​rays before and made a wax of the shape of my mouth before taking impressions for dentures! My insurance only paid for the office visit and x-​rays. It’s really lousy insurance, but at least my new dentist is allowing me to make payments!

For someone who is very finicky about doctors, dentists etc all I can say is Wow. After looking for a new dentist and having a not so nice experience with the last one my insurance choose I Unilocaled Dr Cocchi he is five star. All the staff know about great customer service. Having had the best teeth clean I have ever had in years not only was she thorough but gave me good dental advice. It’s nice to have a dentist who explains what he is doing and why. If you want to change your dentist look no further.

i have been going to this dentist for sometime now, i have never had any problems here i like the dentisit and eva at the front desk, altho i prefer cocchi to do my teeth cleanings !!

A wonderful dentist! Both the receptionist and dental hygenist are very nice too! I had not gone to the dentist for about 4 – 5 years and would say I’m not a big fan of dentists before because they always seem to not care and will almost make up anything to try to do more work/​charge more to you. That’s troublesome for me, especially because although I had HMO insurance, I was thinking of paying out of pocket if a dentist I trust told me I really needed certain work on my teeth. Before I went to Dr. Cocchi, I had all my hesitations with dentists come back as 3 different dentists (2 with high reviews on Unilocal) gave me 3 different diagnosis on the major treatments I need. It seems pretty clear to me those dentists were either shady, greedy, and/​or incompetent and none of them covered HMO insurance (I’m assuming that’s likely because then they actually have to be honest and do work that is actually needed).
Dr. Cocchi was very nice and explained the work I needed, which actually turned out to be much less intensive and expensive work than the other dentists said I needed. I also had a really good feeling I could trust him and his diagnosis.
Just for confirmation since I thought it was important to decide on which plan of action to take, I went online to a dentist advice website to describe my issues and Dr. Cocchi’s diagnosis and treatment were recommended. I can’t thank him enough for being a good dentist and a good human being. In life, I think that’s worth a lot more than the extra dollars those other shady dentists were trying to make.

Scardy cats welcome. You won’t find a more wonderful dentist. Dr. Cocchi makes one feel at ease, he is gentle, funny and great at what he does. His receptionist Eva is da bom too. If you are looking for a good dentist, he is a great one.

Dr Cocchi is one of the best Dentists I have ever been to. I have been in So Cal for a year now and my braces got put on hold for 3 months while I was looking for a dentist. The first two I went to said I had small cavities and needed at least $ 1000 worth of antibiotics. The grand total at the Newport Dental totaled about $ 2000 with my cut being $ 500. Bright Now wanted to do much more work. The total there was $ 5000 with $ 1,500 coming out on my pocket. When I said I needed to discuss it with my wife they put the hard sell on me and offered different payment plans including one that would debit my checking account monthly. Once I heard that I was certain I was done there. When I mentioned this to the dental hygienist that cleaned my teeth she shared some horror stories of all the ways dental offices work to get you to over pay for subpar and/​or unnecessary services. It was good to know I am not paranoid but, in fact, right to be skeptical.
When I called to make the appointment they didn’t ask if I had insurance or not. That was new. I said that I needed to get a cleaning before my braces went on. When I arrived in the office the only thing they had me scheduled for was cleaning. No x-​rays, no exams, just the cleaning I had asked for. Only when I said that the other places informed me I have cavities did they set me up with x-​rays. The x-​rays didn’t show any cavities. The previous place showed me pictures of teeth where they were yellow in the grooves. The chemicals in the tap water back in Texas stain your teeth. They were not cavities but stains. Also Dr. Cocchi discussed my gums in the back of my mouth. That was from a problem with my throat that led to food regularly getting caught in my throat and being forced to throw up to not choke. That issue has since been corrected and doesn’t require antibiotics to correct. If the other dentists would have asked they would have known that.
The only bad things I can even think of is that the place is a little old and run down. Most of the equipment is dated and well used. It is all clean and well kept though. You can tell you are not paying extra for expensive toys for the dentist to use.
My total 2 visits have cost me nothing with my insurance. I wish all medical personnel were like Dr. Cocchi and his staff.

I have to agreed with both of the reviews before mine. I was fortunate enough to work with Dr. Cocchi and I have to say from a professional stand point he is amazing. He always make patients feel at ease and his work is great as well. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a great dentist!!!

I never knew how a good dentist was supposed to be until I went to Dr. Cocchi. His practice is located in suites near Long Beach Memorial Hospital. He performed a thorough examination of my teeth including a periodontal exam. I had never had such an exam and when I asked him, he suggested that this was standard practice and that most dentist should perform them. The truth is that many do not, because they are looking to make money on you. They don’t want to prevent tooth lose, because they are trying to pad their pocket books.
Dr. Cocchi is completely different. He is thorough and very careful. If you are looking for a dentist, you have got to visit Dr. Cocchi. He is honest and fair. Plus, he is great with children. I saw a lot of kids going to see him on the days that I have visited. Because I have only gone here for less than a year, look for a follow up later.
