This is the experience I had with Stephen when I had him come to install my AC unit. When I first spoke with him he apologized for the long delay in getting back to me (it was probably a few days before I heard back from his email), but when I did speak with him he was able to make room in his schedule to come the next day.
He was done with the install in about 45 minutes, all the while walking me through the process.
Needless to say, I’m happy. I had a great experience with Stephen.

Stephen worked on my rental property after the tenants moved out. The project was relatively simple including touch-​ups and some minor repairs around the property. There are four major reasons that I would NOT recommend his service to anyone.
1) Stephen is not professional: During the course of the repairs, Stephen kept on changing his appointment time and date. He also stated that he charges $ 35 per hour, but he changed his rate without my knowledge and charged $ 50 for the first hour and $ 30 per hour thereafter. He also charged my for one extra hour (I know because my realtor told me what time she gave him the keys to the property to open the doors).
2) Incompetence: Initially, Stephen and I went around the property and he had made a list of tasks that needed to be finished. Also, I had given him a list of tasks to be finished as well. He «forgot» some of the items on the list and refused to work on those because it is too far for him to come to the property. So, my boyfriend and I ended up finishing the tasks that he «forgot» to finish on the list by ourselves.
3) Wrong paint: Stephen painted my master bedroom wall with the wrong color and when I inquired about the difference in color, he said, «I told you it turned out dark.» This statement clearly shows his lack of professionalism and incompetence.
4) False Reviews: One of the reasons that I decided to hire Stephen was due to excellence reviews on Unilocal.I have a strong feeling that they are false reviews.
*The bottom line: I have hired many handymen in the past, but Stephen is the worst one of all. He is not professional at all and not competent to get the job done. He should be reported to the BBB. I have the pictures of the walls (in different color that he painted) if anyone wants to see them. If anyone wants to hire a handyman, please hire someone who has experience and competence, and do not make a mistake of hiring Stephen Meyers.

Stephen (owner) just did a bunch of work around our place… and he is awesome! Extremely punctual showed up right at 8am as he said he would. He changed out all my outlets and my light switches to dimmers, hung 2 tricky ceiling fixture (historic building). Stephen also installed my microwave hood range. No easy feat since my kitchen is the size of a small walk in closet and the walls are concrete. I feel very conflicted writing this review. I figure the less others know about this guy, the better ths chance he will always be available when we need things done. I realize that attitude is very selfish and Un-​American, I strongly recommend that you hire this guy!

A spring on my garage door broke and I was unable to get my car out of the garage. I needed help, STAT! As always, I came to Unilocal to help me find the right person. I called one handyman, but he was too busy. Turns out that was great luck for me! If it weren’t for him I would have not found Stephen!
Stephen came by and checked out the situation. I told him I’d purchase the spring and he said he’d be back at 1pm to switch it out. I had an hour until then and decided to jump in the shower and get ready. I took my time, thinking he’d be late for sure… right? Wrong! He was right on time! I ran out of Van’s Hardware and sped down Broadway to get back home.
Stephen was cool and replaced the spring super quick! I was so excited to find a good handyman that I spat out all the millions of things that I wanted him to work on: blinds, fix window, fix shower, redo kitchen, redo floors. I was on a roll!
I’m going to give Stephen a call back to do some more work very soon. Why? Easy, because the service was quick, prompt and professional. I was impressed by Stephen and highly recommend his service.

LADIES … first of all this guy is pretty good looking. Hire him just to watch him — you can thank me later!
I needed to rehab a rental property, so after reading his Unilocal reviews, I decided to call him. I hired Steve over 3 other people for a couple of reasons:
* He was the only one that brought a tape measure to the quote appt.
* He was the only one that could do all the projects that I needed done.
* He offered suggestions when I didn’t know what I was doing.
* Offered a discount if I hired him to do the entire list of projects
* His bid was competitive to others.
* He itemized the quote in a readable fashion … the others did not.
* He carried an egoless professional aura around with him.
I gave him 5 stars because he:
* He met me at Home Depot and advised me on material selections.
* Did the entire job with a high level of quality.
* He did the job in a very timely manner.
* He made alterations to the scope of the job but did not charge me extra when he could have.
* He always kept me informed and communicated progress.
* He stayed within reasonable budgetary guidelines.
I’ve already asked him to quote out more work. For right now, Steve’s «My Guy» when I need to get stuff done!!!
