If you’re in the Long Beach area, this is the phở spot! Their soup was so flavorful and the noodles were cooked al dente. You know that’s what they’re good when it’s a real phở shop that only sells phở, nothing else, no egg roll no rice, just phở, but different kinds of phở! The prices were very affordable and portions were decent. Service was friendly and quick too! Although they don’t have egg rolls, one thing you must order to go with your soup is the deep fried doughnut stick, called Jaa Gwai. It isn’t like the American sweet kind, it’s more crunchy and savory. It’s easy to find because it’s a corner shop. Also pretty easy to find parking on the curb. Will be back for more phở!

As you walk in, the pungent smell of fish sauce overwhelms your senses. It smelled like they dropped a bottle and never bothered to clean it up and let it ferment all over the floor. The large phở I had was not good at all. The anise flavor was strong and everything else was very bland. The meat portions were skimpy and the service unfriendly. Also tables were filthy. It seems like these owners really don’t care anymore. I’m super disappointed as it had such high Unilocal reviews. I should have taken the extra time to just go down to garden grove. Anything would have been better than this sad place. Also, that’s all they serve! Just phở! Nothing else on the menu. You would think they could get that right. F grade for them.

Solid Phở spot in Long Beach. Definitely hit the spot in terms of my Phở craving. The broth was definitely more on the plain side(in comparison to other Phở places I’ve been too), but the portion sizes were perfect so I can’t really complain. Fair warning, when I went the place was cash only!

Love this place, the hours are unfortunate but they are really nice about letting you come in and ordering quickly before closing time! Also love having the option or small medium or large portions! Thai tea!

The most Horrible phở I’ve ever had in LA and Long beach. The soup was not hot enough and was having msg taste. I’ve had many phở in Long beach. This one shoild never be allowed to call themselves phở speciality restaurant. I dont get the hype. People who dine there are mostly homeless. What i cant stand the most is the body ordor in this establishment while you entered you feel like you gonna throw up. It is really not clean and not a place to eat any food. Btw. They took cash only and .50 $ for take out extra. What kind of restaurant charge you for a take out order. I bet if there is a sanitary inspection. They will be closed down.

#3! Could eat this everyday! So yummy and priced perfect! 2 people under 20 is just right. Found this place on a whim, since good phở is hard to find in the LBC. Definitely try and come at least once a week! Servers are fast efficient and friendly! Thanks for making such yummy phở!

I usually come here twice a week in the morning with my dad before class. The quality of phở here is exceptional. The broth is full of flavor and they’re generous with their portions. Will be back for more soon.

The broth is bland. The proportions are all the same despite the soup(Bigger size = more soup). Never get full. The customer service is good most of the time. 3out of 5 experience.

They use msg in their broth without a doubt. I for one don’t like the fact that you have to use something like MSG to make your food taste better. A little salt, a little pepper, yea that’ll work. But not crapload of MSG… I wasn’t going to write a review at first, but i wanted to see if Unilocal algorithms were true. But back to the flavor of the broth… Ordered the #3 Rare Steak & Flank… Holy shit i thought it was the best ive ever had! Broth was on hit! But after a few minutes I started to feel all weird, as if i just took a hit of acid and it was already starting to hit me… no wonder for all the great reviews! If you dont mind MSG, then rave about this spot. To me MSG is bad if its used too much. Maybe a little bit, or none at all, but not enough to notice… so if you start to feel weird after a few minutes of tasting that bomb ass broth, don’t say I didn’t warn ya! After a while even my gf started complaining that her hands were swollen and couldnt even make a fist with both hands and she was having a migrane so bad that her right eye was even shut for a while! I’m not saying this to scare you, but these are the effects people may get when ingesting too much MSG. I saw one Unilocal elitist say it tasted like their mama’s… well I guess you must love a gang of MSG in your food! lol This will definitely go down to the bottom of their«not recommended» section where you won’t see or read this because of Unilocal’s stupid algorithms. Any and all reviews should be posted on the top, no matter what. People need to be notified of the truth! Not recommended section! What a joke!!! I really didn’t want to give this place a star because they don’t deserve one… I would rather give this place a Rick James five finger slap in the face!!!

A disappointment, but wasn’t terrible. Seeing the 4 stars I was excited to see one so close to home. However, the phở tasted very average. BROTH The kind of broth flavor I love: you can really taste the flavor of the star anise and other herbs added in. CONS — Broth was not hot at all, more lukewarm. — The noodles clumped together since the broth was not hot. — Amount of noodles given is very small, my brothers ordered large sizes and it still looked small. Phở Hong Phat is super cheap though, so if you want a quick cheap fix for phở, this might be your spot.

Phở is considered a breakfast food! That is my speculation for Phở Hong Phat opening and closing so early. I’ve been around the phở block, especially in Westminster, aka little Vietnam town; the phở here is very comparable. The menu is small, It has around 10 different types of phở, with a drink list. The one thing that makes this place stand out is the Chinese bread. Get a hot Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk and dip the bread in it. Trust me it’s really good, especially in the morning. They also have this chili crab paste thing which tastes good in the broth. another plus. This place is cash only, which is why they are still alive and well located in the more rundown area of LB. But I live really close so I’m content. I don’t know how they are still charging for tap water because I think that’s illegal. who knows.

Can’t go wrong here. Maybe my favorite phở spot in long beach because its a good compromise between efficient/quick and tasty. Whether its take-out or dine-in, these dudes are quick wit it. One of the servers(Maybe the owner himself) always has a stoic face on – otherwise known by the modern folk as the«b*tch face». So I’m gonna convince my partner to play a game with me when we’re here: Who can get him to smile first(without showing him any boobies). Anywho, parking can be kind of tough and I believe they close once a week. Also, cash only for pick up

Great broth, full of flavor and watered down or too oily. The bowl sizes range from XS to XL, and prices are reasonable. This place serves phở only, no rice dishes, etc. I had the well done flank with tendon(large). The flank was good however the tendon was not very good and the meat portion was very scant. I was mostly eating noodles and had an occassional piece of meat(no exagerasion). I also had the Vietnamese Ice Coffee and a donut(bread srick) which were both good. The service is fine and efficient. Cash Only! And you pay at the register. Overall this joint is solid if you’re in the area.

Phở is the food to my soul. I can have it 3 days in a row, in 90 degree weather, breakfast or dinner. This time, breakfast. Dude they open at 8am! Stream come true for night shift workers. This place only sells phở, no com ta, no vermacilli bowls. They stick to their specialty. A lot of repeat customers come in where the workers great the customers by their first name. It’s really home like. But now for the phở… I had to stick with my chicken phở for my first time and there is 4 different sizes(small, medium, large, extra large). I got the large and left so full! The chicken pieces were a bit dry since it is thinly sliced breast meat. The broth was good and flavorful but tasted clean. Get some Chinese donuts for desserts or like some who dip it in their soup. And of course an iced coffee, coffee and condensed milk. The best way to drink coffee. Parking can be horrendous with street parking it parking across where they have a supermarket. And CASHONLY.

One of the best phở broths out there. They don’t give you as many meats as other places as a standard option. I think it’s just two kinds. One star off for being cash only. I just think we are at a time that credit/debit is key…

A popular Long Beach destination for those who enjoy phở. This small restaurant has always enjoyed mainstream appeal with local residents. Good phở. The broth is mild tasting and balanced. Compared to some of my favorites in Little Saigon, the beef noodle soup falls short. The broth was dark and, although delicately seasoned, not deep in flavor as I had hoped. A wonderful aroma, strong flavor and clarity of the soup are characteristics of excellent phở. The stock, in my opinion, did not achieve these standards. I also wanted a tad more meat in the soup but I have not read many complaints about this so perhaps I should not raise one now. The noodles, on the other-hand, were perfect. They had a nice texture, really soaked in the flavor of the soup, did not separate too easily and was not too clumpy either. The place can be cleaner. The smell, during my recent visit, was enough to make you lose your appetite. If not, maybe the flies hovering around the food will. Service is fast and friendly. Great prices. $ 5.70 for a small bowl of phở. Closed on Wednesdays.

Just tried this place today 09÷28÷15, the reviews convinced me lol. Parking really sucked, had to park at the mexican restaurant next door. Place was clean but very small, it felt condensed/compact even for having split rooms. Waiter took my order right away, food came out really fast too. Looks like everything is already made, as u can see all the big pots in the kitchen full of food. As far as taste, I wasn’t a big fan of the broth. And they were pretty stingy with the meat. Wanted to try something different than my usual phó spot. Geuss I’ll be heading back to Saigon Rendezvous off of Carson street.

I came during my lunch and got a medium #14 Phở Dac Biet. The service was extremely fast. The broth is definitely on the blander side of life, but I prefer it this way. The noodles were perfectly cooked. Unfortunately, those are the only good qualities about this place. The medium was so small! HOLYSMOKES. There was hardly any noodles or meat! I was still hungry even after I had finished my noodles and meat. The only reason I am full is because I ate half of my bean sprouts, drank all the broth, and downed my water(Not tap! Yay!). Also, you will feel like you’re in Vietnam here. It’s disgustingly hot. I was dripping in sweat. #neveragain

I not sure at what point I can start considering my self a phở expert, but I can now say I have had enough phở experiences to make a well educated assumption that Phở Hung Phat is By far the best! Almost every time I come here, which is almost 3 – 4 times a month we are seated immediately. The reason I am updating my review is because after trying so any other phở spots including places in Cerritos and Westminster, I can not find a place that competes with the taste here at Hung Phat. Phở is all about the broth; and this place knows how to make it perfect every time. I definitely like to intensify the taste by adding the condiments, but even if you are someone who is not sure what to add; the flavor of the soup is definitely good enough. I love to order the bread to dip in the soup. It is called Cha Quixote! If you have not tried it, you really should! I literally could have this combination of bread and soup every week for the rest of my life! Only downfall to this place. I really wanted to eat here for breakfast on my birthday 7⁄16 and they were on vacation! They still haven’t came back and I am having withdrawals!
