Pilates X

Several of my friends from work and I joined this studio last summer just to get out and MOVE (most of us are in our 60’s) The owner and staff and instructors are so professional, friendly and motivating we strive to go every day we are not working and absolutely love it.

The ladies at Pilates X are amazing! They are so friendly and I would recommend them to anyone! 5 stars all the way!

Staff is friendly, reformer machine class is my favorite, but the mat class is good too. Overall a good experience so far!

Just started Pilates about a month ago. I had never done pilates before. I did one private session with Debbie to get familiar with the equipment and movements. I then tried out the buy one get one free class to try the group classes. Loved it! I was dripping sweat the first class and loved the flow of everything. I’ve since tried out several classes with different instructors. My favorite classes are with Michele, Allison, and pop pilates with Keeshunna burns sooo good! I already feel my core getting stronger and my flexibility improving.

Pilates X is by far my favorite exercise studio in Long Beach.
I love that Pilates X offers a variety of Cardio, Pilates, Reformer, Pop Pilates, Cardio Kick, and now, even Yoga for kids!
The instructors are all very accomplished trainers. I am very impressed with their credentials and creativity. All of the instructors credentials can be reviewed on the Pilates X site.
The staff are all very personable! I’m always greeted with a smile and hello as I check in with the front office staff.
Lastly, I think the studio is a value given the cost of other studios in the area.
If you’re looking for a place to try, give them a call! I don’t think you will be disappointed!

Best Pilates studio in Long Beach! Everyone is so friendly~ from the staff to the instructors! I love taking both the cardio and Pilates classes which leave you feeling like a million bucks. They also offer group reformer classes which are also very beneficial. The studio is always very clean and well stocked with the latest fitness + fashion brands. I highly recommend PX!

I love the classes at Pilates X. Allison, Michele, Lahni, and Meagan for Pilates, and Karen for yoga — have all helped me become more fit for the last year and a half! I’m a fan of the 5am and 6am classes because I like starting the day off with a challenge that I know I am strong enough to complete! The teachers are all dedicated and welcoming. They offer adjustments for injuries and optional levels of intensity. I have muscles, toning, and sculpting like never before and enjoy wearing smaller clothing sizes. I quit my regular gym after 2 months –6x a week with small classes at Px– they are the «Cheers Bar» of fitness studios– everybody knows your name!

I recently celebrated my one-​year anniversary with Debbi M. at Pilates X, and couldn’t be any happier with my results – I’m free of all back pain. I had a terrible sport injury that left me with major lower back problems, including a bulging disc. Debbi has been a major contributor to my rehabilitation, providing me with back safe challenging reformer workouts, and teaching me back friendly stretch exercises that have assisted me in my cross-​training. I thank Debbi and the entire Pilates X team for delivering and having a welcoming studio.

I have a bulged disc & years ago tried Pilates at a different studio but the instructor didn’t know how to accommodate my injury so I basically gave up on it. Then I had my daughter & six months later it became vital that I strengthen my core in order to keep up with a growing baby so I decided to give pilates another try. I found Debbi at Pilates X and she has been instrumental in my rehab. There are ways to exercise safely with a back injury and still get a great workout. This is her expertise. I’ve been going to Pilates X for over 2 yrs now, my core is stronger than ever & I can still lift my 35 lb toddler. The reformer is my favorite! The packages they offer are very reasonably priced compared to other studios. I am very thankful to have found Debbi and Pilates X!

I was invited to attend a Pilates class as a trial with friend. Sofia was very welcoming and friendly! The class itself was challenging, and since it has been a while since I’ve stepped foot in ANY gym, Lahni was helpful with my form, and sincere in her approach. That hour went by very quickly even though I had some trouble staying in form! It was a great class, and I can’t wait to go back! We started on time, and stayed on schedule. The next class started as soon as we exited, so they are on top of time.
The studio is very clean, and I can appreciate that we clean the mats after each use.
While I would have LOVED to join, and the rates for classes are very reasonable, I was unable to take advantage of their 10 classes for $ 100 special! I will definitely come back even though I live in Downey. It was worth the drive.

I purchased a 3-​month unlimited new client package on a friend’s recommendation and am pretty happy that I did.
This super cute boutique pilates studio does offer a wide variety of fitness classes. They not only offer pilates, but cardio and yoga classes as well. It’s a one stop fitness studio for me. The staff are very warm and welcoming, and the instructors are amazing! The classes will push you and make you shake/​sweat, but the instructors keep it engaging and fun!
The class schedule is pretty substantial and offers early morning classes during the week (as early as 5am) as well as evening classes as late as 7:30. This is great for me since I now can keep a regular fitness routine despite a very busy work schedule.
Lastly, please do try Michelle’s paddleboarding pilates class on the weekend! It’s $ 30/​person and is only a max of 4 people so it’s semi private. Paddleboarding experience is not required. My friend and I have never done paddleboarding before, but Michelle is a pro at it and our trepidation quickly dissipated as she walked us through and gave us a crash course. We had a blast and plan on doing it again!

Such a great and welcoming place! I definitely don’t get the same judgmental vibes that I’ve gotten from other Pilates places — there are people of all ages, sizes, and levels in every class. The owners are accommodating, professional, and personable — they even sent me a handwritten card welcoming me to Pilates X on my second day!
The space is a little tiny, but that just means you get more attention from the instructors. Parking is usually fine, they sell some cool merch in the front and sell water for $ 1 I believe. Good amount of variety from class to class; I’ve never had the same class twice and I’ve been going for about 3 months. Michelle’s class is amazing (if you can get up at 4:30am!) and she’s a very patient and supportive instructor. Highly recommend!
For the price, this place really can’t be beat. Thanks so much guys!

I purchased a great Living social deal for Pilates X: 10 Cardio, 10 Pilates classes for $ 29. They have different class packages you can sign up for based on your workout goals.
My favorite cardio class was the Bikini Burn class with Rachel, who also teaches Pop Physique. I was definitely feeling the burn whenever she taught, and I enjoyed her Pilates classes the most because I felt like I was being challenged the most. Some instructors taught at a slower pace which really wasn’t my cup of tea. Classes are only an hour long — I want to get the most out of that one hour.
The HIIT class was another class I would attend. Meghan teaches it. It would get the heart rate up but I felt like I needed more of a challenge and with very limited class room space, I didn’t feel like I could go «all out» without stepping on someone or encroaching on someone’s personal space.
Becky teaches a lot of the classes and she is very high energy and encouraging. She teaches the circuit training class that puts each person at a station for a minute or two and then you rotate to the next station when time is up.
I liked that there were a lot of class times to choose from and a good variety but I couldn’t get passed how small the room was. I didn’t sign up.

I have taken multiple classes from two teachers here and I loved them! The studio is beautiful. Great location with plenty of parking. (Which is a big plus!) Some of my favorite studios in Long Beach are difficult to find parking, so by the time I get to class I am stressed out. Anywho, I highly recommend this studio and personally really enjoyed Karen Shideler’s and Meghan MacRae’s classes.

It’s a comfortable environment to work out in. The teachers communicate well and help you with alternate moves if something is uncomfortable.

BECKY’S CLASSES.
I’m pretty active but Becky’s classes made me «shake» in the beginning. Just means I wasn’t working those muscle groups!
With time, you learn to enjoy that pleasant burn feeling.
She always remembers everyone’s names and her energy just might make you do something you didn’t know you were capable of. =]
Just be aware cuz you’ll be addicted to becky!

They charge you $ 10 for missing a class you signed up for (web/​mobile). And it really adds up.
Becky’s classes usually get full for 5, 6 PM classes. So you want to sign up in advance unless you wanna be placed in the middle of the room with no ATC wall.
So in order to reserve a spot with the ATC wall, i would sign up then get charged $ 10 each time i couldn’t make it. You know, last minute errands, working late. =(
The thing is, it doesn’t matter whether you go online & cancel. They STILL CHARGE YOU if it’s within 24 hr time frame.
I called in, explained why i had to miss my class, & they waived it a couple times.
But in my 6 months at Pilates X, I paid a LOT of these $ 10 penalty fees than i would have originally agreed to pay.
Membership comes down to $ 79/​month when you pay for 6 months in advance (don’t quote me on the exact amount). But i was paying additional $ 70 – 80 a MONTH for missing my classes.
This makes sense if,
I signed up and they can’t fill my spot.
Then they would be wasting their pre-​planned resources and it’s fair to charge me for it.
But that’s not the case here.
They would fill my spot with a walk-​in or a standby anyway. And there are ALWAYS people on standby for Becky’s classes.
So to me, continuously charging me $ 10/​class when my spot’s CERTAINLY gonna be given to somebody seems a bit unappreciative of my loyalty. which is the biggest reason why i decided not to renew my membership.
All in all though, i truly loved Becky’s classes.

I was hesitant to go and meet a friend because no one likes being the «new girl». But let me tell you, no newbie awkwardness here! EVERYONE is so friendly and no one is made to feel like an outsider. Everyone is there to have a good time and to get fit. I’ve been going for less than a month and am hooked and tell everyone I talk with a pit this place!
Thanks Pilates X for finally being the place I have fun getting fit in!

I am not very physically active, so to say I was intimidated to go to my first Pilates class would be an understatement.
I had no idea what Pilates really was, and didn’t even know what to wear, lol. I thought I’d be left in the dust and not be able to keep up with what everyone was doing. Also thought I wouldn’t be able to move the next day.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were people of all ability levels in the class. The instructor (Becky) knew that I was a newbie, greeted me, and told me that if I couldn’t keep up, that was okay, and to do what I felt comfortable with.
Surprisingly I could move the next day and felt great.
I’ve had a few classes so far, and look forward to gaining more flexibility and getting my body toned up!
I highly recommend Pilates X!

This is by far the best Pilates gym. I’ve only been to Pilates X but I won’t go anywhere else. Leah is super sweet. She has this way of connecting with you where you feel like you’ve known each other for years. I started coming here because of a Living Social deal. I was hooked. I’m going to the Bahamas in two weeks but in the month that I have been able to come back my saddle bags are slowly disappearing.
Rachel is the kind of instructor that will kick your ass with a smile. I have really bad knees and they modify certain workouts for me. I love that she says, «I don’t care for quantity but quality.»
The studio is small with about 17 wall spaces. I like the wall space better than having the actual Pilates machine. It’s less intimidating. I also like the smaller classes. Now that I’m not working 2 jobs, I can’t wait to go to more classes. The only thing I don’t like is getting super hungry during my work out because the studio is behind The Deli News: p

Pilates X is a wonderful studio that offers excellent classes with a caring staff. Initially when I first began Pilates I wasn’t sure if I could do it! This type of exercise program can be intimidating, but thanks to the incredible instructors and amazing staff members at this studio, suddenly you find that Pilates is doable! I’ve gone from not really knowing what Pilates was all about to truly enjoying it. Their cardio classes are also amazing and they help transform your body and your mental strength all in one.
The owner is the most caring of all! She goes out of her way to make sure customers are enjoying their classes and finds wonderful instructors that truly care and desire to help people like me improve their fitness and health. The studio would not be the way it is now if not for the owner, and she goes above and beyond to be there not only for her employees, but the customers of her studio as well.
Pilates X and its owner stands out from other professionals because both the studio and owner take the time to care for everyone’s health and fitness needs. They also continuously find new ways to improve the studio and encourage their customers with new classes.
What’s more, Pilates X has great products at the studio (clothing that I love) and often creates incentives for its members to get them through the door and to never give up on their fitness goals. This studio is the best to go to for on-​going personal fitness development and developing a strong core!
