We called ahead to place our order, which I highly recommend doing. By the time we got down there our order was ready, so we just paid and left. Very convenient. The fried chicken was amazing. The outside was fried and perfect and the inside was moist and perfect. The fries, however, were far from perfect. They were SUPER soggy. I was so sad, because I so desperately wanted to eat my perfect fried chicken with fries! But I couldn’t handle the limp, greasy potato sticks. We also tried the beans and mac and cheese. Pretty standard, nothing outstanding. If I come back, my order will only consist of fried chicken parts…

Straight to the point: Best fried chicken EVER. The skin was like crispy pork crackin’ but succulent. Don’t talk to me, I’m eating. The meat was moist and tasty. Worth every second I stood in the cold for it to fry and that’s calling my order ahead of time. The sides, beans and potato salad were fine. This is my sixth time here in the last year and its just as good as the first time I found this place.

I’ve had some issues finding great BBQ in CA. I’ve found really good California Style BBQ, but they do it different out here. Lighter, fresher. I’ve been wanting some good DIRTYSOUTHBBQ, and I found it here. At this shack.(Of course, I should have know. The shack-ier the BBQ joint, the better it’s going to be.) Greens, incredible. Smokey, porky, salty. Baked Beans, fantastic. Sweet, spicy, with plenty of ground pork. Coleslaw, amazing. So fresh and with a great tang of lemon and… cardamom? I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. It wasn’t caraway. Anyway. BBQ Pulled pork. The tenderest, juiciest, long strands of perfectly sauced(covered, but not swimming) pork. I wanted another half pound of it. I am aware this is a chain of sorts, which would normally disqualify it from being super awesome, but there’s at least one exception to every rule.

This is one of those places I was really expecting to hate. The only reason I stopped by was that my first choice was closed. From the get go I was not looking favorably on this place. The location… kinda sketchy. Ordering from someone behind security bars… not good. Tiny restaurant with a massive menu… hmm. 15 minute weight… wtf?!? All this aside, I received a really great plate of food and really friendly pleasant service. I ordered fried chicken. I received three HUGE pieces

Went again on Tuesday, and once again it didn’t disappoint. Yes, there is a 15 – 20 minute wait for your food but its worth it. We ordered the ½ pound of pork ribs dinner w/mac n cheese and greens. It was a Tuesday, so we also got a pound of FREE rib tips. My bf ordered the beef tri-tip sandwich with fries, they gave us(3) sides of bbq sauce and our meal was deelish. So much food, and it was even good for lunch the next day. Yummmmm :)
