Yesterday we had Ex-Girfriend Roll, Spicy Tuna Salad, and classic salmon sushi! There sushi was very fresh and good! I will definitely visit Sapporo again with my friends and family :)

I remember the two times I have been in the restaurant, I was with my boyfriend. Every time we walk in, I don’t feel welcomed. There was no employee outside to greet guest or to seat them. We stood there waiting for someone for a good 5 minutes and we saw servers walking around. The service was slow and for the price we paid, it was not good. The environment was good and some of the food was good. The first time was great. The bulgogi and food tasted great. The second time, not satisfied because the bulgogi we had was tasteless and didn’t taste fresh. Besides the service and the tasteless bulgogi, everything else was good.

This restaurant is a good place to eat whether for lunch or dinner. I have been there twice with my girlfriend and the first time was great. The food tasted really good and the service was very friendly, fast and reliable. However, our second experience was not as pleasant. As soon as we walked in yesterday, we were stared at by some guy who I would say is a manager. He kept staring at us in an awkward and unfriendly manner that made me really uncomfortable. The service was still fast, but not as friendly. The bulgogi was terrible, it tasted like an old meat that was seasoned too much to make it taste alright. For the price I paid, i would rather have gone somewhere else but beside that, there’s not much to complain. I might be going there again if the food tastes like before and the service gets a bit more friendly.

We have been in LB for about 18 months and this place is one of the better places to go for sushi. They always have a crowd on Friday and Saturday nights and the service has always been great every server works all the tables so you never have to wait for a refill on your glass or another brew or carafe of hot saki from the bar. They can accommodate small parties of 2 as equally as up to 10 guests. The food, great selection of raw fish, rolls, sushi and Japanese dishes. We always have a good time whenever we go because the food and service can’t be beat.

So many items to choose from, I wanna have one of everything. I always get take out from here and it is always good. I try and order something new each time but, of course there are always favorites. I think its the monster and the crawfish baked rolls that are my favorite.

This is my Go-to sushi spot. We always order to go and always get the same thing. 3 item bento with sashimi, chicken cutlet, and shumai. Soooooooo good it comes out to about $ 14 but comes with soup and salad as well and the breaded chicken you get two pieces, this is great to share. This place has a massive menu and its really nice inside. My only complaint would be sometimes when we actually eat in they seem some times understaffed because we have waiting unusually long for service and food, but nothing to dock a star for. Also DONOT leave with out having the macaroon ice cream sandwiches. They are heaven in your mouth.

I’ve been here three times. First time– was great. came at a slow time so the wait wasn’t long. the chefs were very accommodating making me a California roll with salmon on top. second time — it wasn’t busy, but the wait was throwing me off. waitress/service person didn’t seem to want to be there or to help my friend and I. Almost like a scoff. But the sushi was decent. Third time–(safe to say last time), It was around 2:30/3:00 pm, I came with two girl friends. One got the Bento box, the other had shrimp(she’s allergic to fish, so they took great care to not cross contaminate for her, which was really great.) the reason I probably won’t come back? I got severe food poisoning. I couldn’t do anything for almost three days. Maybe some time in the distant future I’ll give it another go, but for now their quality and service just seems to go down every time I come.

I came here on a Monday at 6 and the waitress brought the happy hour menu over to the table only to come back saying sorry actually happy hour ended :(tease Anyhow, I really enjoyed my roll, I forgot what it was called but it was a fresh roll with salmon, spicy tuna and crunch. It was delicious and the fish tasted very fresh, I enjoyed it. I’ll be back for happy hour to try more rolls!

I really like the food here the service is good and I always leave with a smile ! The only thing I think they should improve on would be getting better plates, half of the ones they serve me were kind of broken

Ordered a bunch of rolls on a business lunch. Loved everything we got, especially the spicy tuna with crispy rice, the blue diamond roll, the godzilla roll(if you like the most Americanized sushi), and the Long Beach roll. I think they have a good variety of more straight-up and Americanized sushi. And, if you’re looking for something cheaper, they have a great selection of bento boxes and sushi combos. My only problem is, it was wayyyy too slow for lunch. It took us 90 minutes to get all our food! The ex girlfriend roll was delivered to us about a half hour after all the other food. They really need to speed things up there. I’m hoping it’s just for the rolls and not for the lunch specials, because quick lunches need to be 30 mins or less, am I right?!

I’d give 0 stars if I could. Took 20 minutes for someone to come around and take our order. 50 minutes to bring our food. The food all came out 10 minutes separate of each other, so my entire party couldn’t eat at the same time. The two pieces of uni(the item on the menu that doesn’t even need to be cooked) we ordered never even came out, and after one hour of waiting, we cancelled the order. They were nice enough to not charge us for the food we never received though *eye roll* Worst service in the world.

This place always intrigued me because their parking lot is always packed and with good reason. The plethora of specials takes a while to figure out. I was surprised by the appetizer options which they breakdown between Hot & Cold dishes. My recommendation is to go for the half roll special at $ 6.99 per roll. This way you get to try more without the risk of getting a roll which you regret and leave on the table. The Ramen is hidden away in small print but this is a big mistake. Ramen this good should have its own full page. IT’S THEBESTRAMEN I HAVEEVERHADSOFARTODATE!!! It’s a spicy, creamy concoction smimilar to Panang Curry but without the coconut flavor. The use of corn in the ramen was interesting but it went well with the bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, and chashu(tender pork). Not a drop was left in the huge bowl. We tried four half rolls. The Baja Roll, Red Dragon, Mexican Roll, and Spider Roll. That is also the order of my favorite to least. That’s not to say it wasn’t good, only that I prefered them in that order. The spice in the spicy Tuna is perfect. The Yellowtail and Salmon were delicious on their respective rolls. The wasabi seems freshly made and is a lot milder than most sushi joints I’ve visited. Even the Sapporo beer was amazing. It had a hint of citrus I had never noticed before. This place is hit a Home Run for me. I will return.

I have been to this restaurant a few times but my final visit here is how I will rate them. Horrible I went with my aunt, uncle, and neighbor(who wanted to try the place after telling them how good it was). It was a mistake taking them as I received the worst service in my life. Received entrees before appetizers and never received two of the rolls ordered. Ordered another pitcher it never came. Sad that a restaurant could not handle a Saturday night(2÷19÷16) the waitress Ally did nothing to rectify the situation and all that was done is «oh we won’t charge you for the rolls you never received»(even though they were priced on the check). Will never return and will never recommend

Saturday night, table for 2 please [: It was crowded but we waited only a few minutes to be seated at a booth. Elaine was our server and she was very nice and attentive. Our drinks were brought out quickly and we were served free edamame while we looked through the menu. Of course we take forever to browse through their menu(even though we always go with the bento combination haha). I always ask for extra ginger and I loved how she brought out a lot. During dinner hours, the 2 item bento is $ 13.99 and the 3 item is $ 16.99. I had the chicken cutlet, spicy tuna roll(I’m pretty picky when it comes to spicy tuna rolls and I was pleased with Sapporo’s) and salmon roll. My friend had the chicken cutlet and salmon roll. They put the cutlet sauce on top(I ended up asking for more; geez I’m so needy) We also ordered the $ 8.50 creamy jalapeño appetizer(we’re obsessed with sushi restaurant jalapeño poppers). I love how the jalapeños were crunchy and fairly spicy. After placing our orders, we received our hot miso soups right away. It took a while for our food to come out(but I would rather they take a little longer instead of rushing with our order) because everything came out amazing! You get salad in the bento(the dressing is sooooo good), a little bit of sweet vinegar-soaked sliced cucumbers(kind of like a sunomono), and an orange slice(which was so sweet and juicy that I would have ordered a bag of oranges to-go if they sold them hahaha). I can’t wait to visit again [:

Overview: Sapporo Sushi is a moderate to expensive, peaceful sushi restaurant located on the east side of Long Beach on Pacific Coast Highway that serves a good variety of sushi, sushi rolls as well as bento boxes, ramen, udon, and appetizers. There is small to moderate sized lot for free parking and it’s on the mid-range for crowdedness. The Food: While menu prices here are high, and there are few discounts besides for advance bookings of parties of 8 or more, the portions and my perceived quality was pretty high here. Each roll is beautifully prepared, thick, and flavorful, and my ramen was the same. There was a good mix of veggies, meat, egg, and broth, and the portion size was actually very satisfactory for me. The Establishment: Well lit, comfortable seating, good volume, good ambiance, tastefully decorated. There is even a room in the back for large groups. This place adapts very well to all environment and I could see this place being suitable for casual get-togethers, business lunches, and dates with a loved one. In addition, this Sapporo is located near a Yogurtland, «Afters» which is an ice-cream and doughnut shop, and several other small shops. The Service: Attentive, quick, friendly, and well dressed. ~20% mandatory tip was added on because we had a group of 6. Conclusions: Sapporo Sushi is a moderate to expensive Japanese restaurant that serves good quality meals with good portions, décor and service. I would recommended it for mostly everyone who enjoys Asian cuisine and recommend the specialty rolls as well as the ramen.

STILL my favorite go to place for sashimi. So fresh & delicious! Two, two item lunch combos… Sushi, sashimi & tempura. OTD $ 30, including tax & tip. Their tempura fried ice cream is AMAZING… and huge. Enough to share. Save room for it!!!

Not bad! It’s not an authentic Japanese restaurant run by Japanese people, but the selection is diverse and the cuts of sashimi are very generous. I haven’t run into any issues with the freshness of the fish here. Mostly I appreciate the fact that it closes late, so we can walk in for a sushi dinner after 9pm. Sapporo Sushi is a large open space with lots of random décor, which I like. Ambiance is bright and cheerful. Service is friendly and attentive. Here’s what I recommend: They offer Poke bowls, which are amazing. You can choose the fish you want(I usually get a mix of tuna and salmon) over a bed of sushi rice, seaweed, fresh avocado, and a small lump of crab meat. You can choose between sizes s, m, or l, and they are packed with flavor. — if you’re getting the bento box, try the sesame chicken. It’s deep fried in a thin layer of batter and the skin is light and crispy. The chicken is moist and flavorful. — on the same token, if you’re getting the bento, DON’T get the black cod. Black cod glazed in miso is one of my favorite things to order at Japanese restaurants. Here they give you a tiny tiny block of fish that is obviously frozen then microwaved. Quality is horrendous. Definitely skip. — also DON’T get the teriyaki beef. Stale and also horrendous quality. Tasted like beef jerky with warm sauce over it. Sushi rolls are fun and tasty. I also love the baked mussels here with mayo but I think that’s a pretty staple appetizer at any sushi restaurant. Plenty of options: I’ve seen people enjoy glasses of wine with their meal or order ramen from the kitchen. Good for groups or for one at the sushi bar.

Location — This place used to be a Niko Niko but changed to Sapporo not too long ago. It’s in a shopping center right off 7th that used to have a Ralphs but that closed recently. There are a few other places in there — L and L, Cha for Tea and Yougurtland. But plenty of parking now that the Ralphs is gone. Service — We have never had bad service at this place — everyone is friendly but not effusive or overbearing which is great for us. We are always promptly seated and our orders taken. We have never sat in the sushi bar area, but no complaints for the restaurant wait staff. Food — It’s hard for us to pass up on the Bento combos so that is almost always what we get. We have never ordered just sushi, but have had it as a part of the combos. My go to combo is always black cod and mixed sashimi. Only reason that I’m not giving this place 5 stars is a couple times the sashimi didn’t look very appealing. If you know your raw fish, you can tell when its fresh and when its frozen and on those occasions, my fish had that recently been thawed taste and texture to it. Most of the time, I have no problem with the sashimi though. I’ve been with some other people who have tried the spicy ramen and the sesame chicken bowl and also no complaints with those dishes. Overall — Definitely our go to Japanese place in this area of long beach. Its casual and priced well for what you get. Oh — and they have a loyalty program so make sure if you go you get a card!
