The Feed Store

What a FUN shop! The Feed Store is currently having a huge sale (moving?) and they have almost everything on sale! Love it! I came here looking for a men’s vintage coat, but didn’t find what I was looking for.
This store only had about 4 racks of clothes, and the rest were housewares, shoes, and knick nacks. Super fun to look around.
What I loved best is that a portion of this store’s profits goes to feed the needy. Hence «The Feed Store». LOVE IT!

Pretty awesome place that helps the less fortunate! Might as well go to them to feed your addiction…

My favorite shop on Retro Row, I have to control myself or I’ll be a hoarder!
This is a beautiful shop, so well-​styled I thought it was a high-​end hipster boutique at first glance. The items are well curated, great condition, and purchases support Grateful Hearts
. Much nicer than any thrift store I’ve been to, and their prices are a bit higher. But the items are already picked out and it’s fun to browse. The people that work here are super friendly too. Among my treasures I’ve found here: vintage hand embroidered table cloth, English bone china set, and a handmade baby quilt. Feel good about shopping!

Located on 4^th, this retro thrift store is a landmark on this eclectic neighborhood’s landscape. It’s further location makes it highly visible and an easy starting point for a day of thrift store shipping.
This small and packed store is loaded with lots of great items — you have to look from floor to ceiling as things are stacked everywhere — this location is more of a resale full retail shop than a true thrift store.
You have to look hard to find any real bargains. However, there are lots of great buys if you are just looking for something for yourself.
As well, all their profit goes to support the needy in the area. Food, clothing and shelter to those less fortunate. I only got a couple things I had to have and I felt good about spending my money here.
Be sure to give them a look.

Love this place. Adorable and fairly priced! The staff is friendly too!

My favorite vintage store on Fourth street because of the many treasures I now own, or have created from inexpensive and quickly revolving merchandise. There are also very pleasant employees, decent clothing selection, awesome jewelry/​accessories, and also the proceeds are benefiting a real cause. Going here offers me feelings of excitement, and that is meaningful. I haven’t been in a long time, but simply planning a future trip to explore gets me so excited. Sidenote, one of my favorite things to do is come here to find inspiration to create little DIY projects or gifts. If you’re into that then I am sure you will like this!

This has been in my drafts folder for far too long! This store is a great addition to 4^th Street, I always find the cutest things here for not a lot of $$. I love the rustic décor, another review said it perfectly, it’s like being at Disney’s frontier land.

Very cute thrift shop on 4^th. Store is relatively small, good deals on some items, some art and furniture is a little over priced but hey that’s how these shops go. Good if you’re just shopping around.

I walk in thinking that this will be a marked up boutique vintage shop because the selection so great. But the prices were reasonable and when I walked up to the clerk she explained that everything was donated and then she offered to roll a pair of discount dice for their spring sale resulting in 50% off my item. It was a complete steel and a wonderful experience!

Ive got some goodies from this store: 1 midi length jeans skirt $ 5, 2 maxi skirts for $ 10 each! One of them is vintage Ann Taylor, whatta steal! The store is very cute and houses lots of knick knacks for home. Read my full review at

Cute little shop with very unique looking stuff. My only complaint is that I did not have more time to dig through all the treasures!

The Feed store is a painfully cute thrift store placed right on the cusp of the LBC’s retro row. The store benefits Grateful Hearts, which is a non-​profit geared towards providing food and clothing to those in need.
The shop offers an eccentric mix of both thrift and vintage items. Some of the items offered include apparel, housewares, shoes, records, bric a brac, small collectibles and other small miscellaneous accessories.
I found the selection of items that were not «vintage» to be no better than any of the items than most thrift stores offer. Since the store is very small is also very limited. Although I did spot out a few cooler «vintage» items they were a little bit pricier than I had seen for similar items at other shops.
Although most of the thrift items are considerably overpriced for what they are, The Feed Store seems to offer lots of special lots of special discounts and incentives to spend money there. Here are the discounts that I observed:
Students: 30% off
Check-​in on Unilocal: 20% off (this one specified storewide. I’m not sure if the other ones were or were not)
Bring in five cans: 25% off
The wide array of discounts offered pretty much assure that anyone going in can save some money but even at that, it still puts the prices above what you would pay at most thrift stores.
From my observations, the customer service in the store seemed non existent. I spent some time looking around in the store looking at various different sections and was never acknowledged. There was one other person in the store and he seemed to receive the same experience as myself. Bummer.
What makes the other seemingly mediocre aspects of the store so disappointing is the ambiance and environment of the store. Like I mentioned earlier, this store is ADORABLE. I’ve been to hundreds of thrift stores all over the country and The Feed Store is hands down, the cutest, cleanest and most brilliantly designed thrift store I have ever stepped foot in. Every single display is designed with care and makes whatever is being featured look fantastic. Look at this underwear display! (
) it’s a thrift store. Every corner and nook that I inspected in the store it became increasingly clear to me just how much the people working here cared and the cause that this store was benefitting. It makes sense that a lot of people like this store and have given it glowing reviews.
Would I recommend The Feed store? If you you know thrift or vintage or are just looking to get a good deal, no. This isn’t a store for you. However, if you a occasionally stop by thrift stores, don’t mind spending more money or want to see the prettiest thrift store ever, this is the place for you.

So. Adorable. If you’re into «shabby chic» you’ll probably squeal and want to take all the decorations. The sections are creatively designed to look like different rooms of a house (kid’s room, kitchen, vanity, etc), so your browsing experience is aesthetically pleasing as well as convenient. Their dressing rooms are also decked out in cuteness!
The clothes are not all vintage. There are a lot of clothes that are just run of the mill secondhand. There were a few items I liked, particularly an ‘80s cropped floral sweater. However, they weren’t very cheap. Maybe I am too frugal, but I don’t really feel like buying a sweater for $ 16 when I’m in a thrift store. The clearly vintage items are more expensive, but the regular items are still more than what I usually see in other thrift stores. However, they do offer some discounts, and these are the ones I saw:
~20% off for checking in on Unilocal
~25% off for bringing in 5 cans
Not bad! So if you’re dying to buy that perfect vintage dress, just keep that in mind. Other sections that seemed promising but that I just browsed through quickly were: The vinyl selection, the kitchen area, and the book section.
What really puts it above average is the fact that they donate some proceeds to feed (hence the name) the homeless. Very down to earth store. Even though it’s a tad overpriced, you can use that thought to justify your spending!
Worth a look because you might find something really unique, but don’t come expecting huge markdowns.

Fun music, rustic themed décor and clean! Kind of like being in Frontierland at Disneyland. Well organized and great finds for good prices. I would have given it 5 stars but…
I was interested in a bench but the girl wasn’t sure if it was for sale. She said she’d call me the next day before I left town. She didn’t. So I called and another girl said nobody knew if it was for sale and that she would call me the next couple days. She didn’t. So I called again a different day and this girl didn’t know what was going on. I didn’t call back after that. They never called me. The end. What a sad ending to our phone tag game.

Spontaneous urge for shopping and an empty wallet brought me to the feed store. Even if I had the big bucks though I’d still thrift… who wants to wear the same dress everyone has from Old Navy?
It’s a small store in comparison to all the other thrift shops on this stretch of 4^th Street. But everything is really cute and thoughtfully displayed. Vintage handkerchiefs, dishes, a small kid’s corner, stack of vintage denim.
On this particular day I found a silk scarf, vintage blank postcards and a belt.
Al proceeds benefit feeding the homeless. Can you find such satisfaction shopping at Banana Republic? I think not.

I applaud the mission behind the store, but as a store I was unimpressed. The goods were mostly thrift shop fare for designer prices (although I didn’t look at the clothing).
They were even selling an empty Broguiere’s milk bottle for $ 15 (I added a picture of it to Unilocal!). You can save yourself $ 10 and buy one full of milk at Whole Foods (
). Someone must have finished his lunch and thought it would be a good idea to sell his trash to unsuspecting shoppers for three times what it cost. They didn’t even clean it… It still had fresh milk streaks on it. If you want your money to go to families in need, I would say donate straight to them.
Also I want to say I’m probably spoiled by the thrift and vintage stores in the Bay Area, which is where I lived for most of the past eight years. Maybe the Feed Store is a really good store compared to other Long Beach stores… And I do agree with the other reviewers that the store is very cute.

One of my favorite thrift stores on retro row. Great mix of vintage household items, clothing and jewelry and cool nick knacks.
Nice/​Friendly staff and it feels damn good knowing that the money you spend is going towards helping people in need.
I made away with a vintage (and unused) Plush/​Burlap OWL pillow made by «An Original Thing by Judd» and an original mixed media painting.
Looking forward to what I may find next weekend.
