Excellent food. Great place to get a quick and fresh meal. It’s amazing that every time I come here even in the height of the summer season, the quality of the food is about the same, and it’s ALWAYS packed in the summer but it’s a much quieter more romantic experience in the winter. I love getting the Greek salad. Pro tip– get it chopped, add beets, and chicken. Much easier to eat it chopped and gets all the flavors together. I’ve been to Greece a couple of times and I think the food is about authentic as any larger American Greek restaurant could be. Staff is pretty attentive and friendly. The reason I give this place 4 stars instead of 5 is that the bathrooms are kind of gross but I can imagine it’s really hard to keep it clean in the summer. Edit– I just came back(October 11th) and the bathrooms are clean. I guess it was just because of the nasty seasonal crowd. The food was even better than last time!

The gyro is very fresh. The Greek salad with salmon is a good choice. Their hummus is always fresh. Will definitely return!

One star review because staff was extremely rude! Yelled at us because we took food to go and they said we couldn’t sit at their outdoor tables. Restaurant was basically empty and no one was sitting at any tables. No pleasantries exchanged, very awkward and definitely no way to speak to customers. Learn some tact!

Nice Greek place in pier village. Great to stop in and have lunch outside on a nice summer day. I would recommend the gyros.

«it’s Greek To Me» What can I say about this restaurant? it’s not the best greek food I have ever had! It’s decent and a bit commercialized. It’s a chain restaurant and those I’m not a fan of. I do like the fact that when you check in on Unilocal, they give you«$ 5.00» off of your bill. I love the location, which is on the main strip of Chelsea Avenue and Centennial Drive in Pier Village, Long Branch. If you sit outside in the warmer months, you have a nice view of the boardwalk. The interior of the restaurant is spacious and decorated in a greek theme, such as little statues, clay pots and paintings. For appetizer I went with the«Greek Spread» aka«Pikilia» $ 19.00. This consisted of beet salad, eggplant spread, hummus, tzaziki sauce and pita bread. The beet salad was flavorful but I found the other spreads watery and flavorless. It seemed as if they were laying out for a while and due to the heat they lost consistency. The pita bread was fresh and that I liked. I also had the«Spanakopita» which is Spinach and feta, wrapped in phyllo dough $ 7.00. The quality of the phyllo, spinach and feta cheese they use are good, but what killed it for me is the fact that you could tell by the taste it was frozen then reheated and served. My entrees were: Whole Bronzini. «Mediterranean Sea Bass» $ 27.00. Which was bone in and broiled. The Sea Bass was fresh and had a lot of flavor. I also had the«charcoal leg of lamb skewers» $ 21.00. The lamb was fresh, but it had a gamey flavor. It came with an option of french fries or spinach. I chose the spinach and it was seasoned perfectly with garlic and oil. The wine I had was very good. It was a Greek wine called Malamatina. It’s a «Retsina», a dry white and they only serve it in 500ml bottles, which is two servings per bottle. $ 10.00. Would I come back again? Maybe, If I was in the area?! This link provides additional information:

It’s OK. I live in Astoria, Queens and great Greek food is our claim to fame. I think for NJ(where I grew up) it’s pretty decent Greek food. The octopus was pretty good. The service was too fast. And my lamb was too fatty and crunchy. Not to mention it was served with French fries? Really French fries? Crinkle cut oven baked frozen French fries with a few spices. The lamb was served over a bed of pita? So it became soggy with lamb juice? I don’t think the cooks are Greek. If they are, they are doing a disservice. This is the kind of place that says it’s Greek, with no Greek chefs. No olive oil at the table. And this is well over 20 $ a plate. I get better lamb and rice for 8 $ at local shops. If I wanted to spend over 20 on a lamb dish and nearly 20 on a octopus dish, it’s worth the drive and tolls to visit Astoria. It’s not bad, just not great. And a name like«It’s Greek to me» makes it sound like a fast food chain. Which it kind of is, minus the price. It’s priced like a high end meal. Everyone visit Astoria for real Greek food, you will pay half, and if you don’t then it’s well worth it. Sigh…

the food came really fast but the chicken was somewhat dry. The waitresses were way to fast we felt rushed out. They gave us a bill and asked us 3 times in five minutes if we were ready with the bill. Nice inside but I felt the staff was rude. Bathroom wasn’t to clean either.

My family and I just recently went to Long Branch for the first, That’s when I discovered my new favorite Greek restaurant It’s Greek To Me! The atmosphere is beautiful and a patio that’s right in the heart of Long Branch! The inside is has an old world Greek décor and has plenty of room for large family gatherings, there were 6 of us and we didn’t have to wait but 10 minutes for our table with no reservations! The services was fast, the waiter had water and an array of bread on the table when we set down waiting for us. First we started with a Greek salad which was very and and fresh, my favorite part was the Dolmades stuffed grape leaves! We also had the Falafel’s and the Grilled Feta w/fresh tomato & sweet peppers, these were excellent! I’m a shimp fan and everywhere I go I always order a shrimp entrée, so I got the Shrimp Saganaki shrimp broiled w/kefalograviera cheese. fresh tomato & garlic, if your a shrimp lover I recommend it highly! My wife had the lamb gyro and I had the chicken platter with Greek fries and we split them, I’m not sure what one I enjoyed more? The grilled chicken was cooked just the way I like it nice a burnt on the edges and could not get enough of the Greek fries! The Tzatziki sauce on the gyro was nice and creamy and the lamb was cut nice and lean! All and all can’t wait to go back to my new favorite Greek restaurant It’s Greek To Me!

The falafel plate was delicious. Light and airy and perfectly crisp. The chicken platter was huge. The service was fast and we received what we ordered. The only issue I had was that I had a 5% coupon from Unilocal they told Me they accepted but never put on my receipt. I had already left when I noticed :(

This place sucks. I walked in at 4:23 and walked out at 4:44. It was the fastest«sit down dining experience» I’ve ever had, so you can imagine it was unpleasant to finish a sit down meal from enter to exit in 21 minutes. Our waiter hurried to us when we sat and gave us a second to look over our menus before we ordered. I ordered a chicken gyro and my friend ordered a salad with shrimp. It came out within 3 – 4 minutes. I’m not a chef, but I know fresh chicken takes 8 minutes to cook. It was definitely pre cooked and reheated, and then drowning in sauce. My friends shrimp was warm but she felt it was too fast as well. I don’t want to eat at a sit down establishment and receive fast food quality meals. On top of that I ordered a side of hummus and it was ages before I got someone’s attention to get pita with it. Overall I wouldn’t return. I don’t like being rushed. Especially for mediocre food. I could’ve gotten much better in any of the surrounding places. Also a waste of 20 min of my precious tanning time. Booooo to this place

This is a fast food Greek restaurant. Staff is polite, salad is good however lamb is tough and chewy. Also dinner came out real quick so that tells me food is prepared way ahead and just re heated. Good in a pinch but not someplace to frequent.

It’s Greek to Me is a chain to me. There’s nothing exceptional about this place but also nothing disgusting. Its simple, consistent, service is OK. Everything is just OK about this place and that can be good but I personally want a bit more when I go out. If you are looking for something you can count on the shore, try this place out.

Got a take out order of Gyro’s. Excellent. Good Cucumber sauce and the Greek fries(lemon and oreagano) are delicious and enough for too.

Went there for Mother’s Day and my overall experience was so-so. The lamb gyro was very good but the spanakopita was awful. My son made spanakopita in his World Cuisine class in high school and it was better. I took home a lot of leftovers but I hardly ate any of them.

Before hitting the beach for some sun, my girlfriend and I decided to have a light lunch at It’s Greek to Me last summer. They have seating both indoors and outdoors. Because it was such a lovely day, we chose to have our waitress seat us outside, so I won’t be able to describe how the inside looks. We decided to share the Mousaka($ 17), which is a scrumptious dish consisting of Eggplant, Potato, Ground Beef, and Bechamel. We fell in love with this dish when we were in Greece. It’s a rich dish, so we knew halving it would be fine especially because we were trying to keep our tummies as flat as they could be while catching some rays! The dish came out fairly quickly and it was delicious! I’m bummed that there aren’t more It’s Greek to Me locations in Jersey.

I like this place! Ordered mimosas, calamari, and a gyro sandwich off their lunch special. Got easily full off of the calamari itself and was surprised to see the portion size of my sandwich(more so a flatbread wrap with tons of lamb, tomatoes and tzatziki sauce to top it off). It was massive and I only took two or three bites of it before getting it packed. Wish I could’ve enjoyed it more at the restaurant because it was definitely prepared well and I really loved the lamb. Will give this place another try when I’m in the area again.

I read some of the good reviews and these folks have got to be friends or relatives of the owner. Not only am I an amateur chef, authored a cook book and catered events where I did all the cooking, we eat out often and we know value. The location is great and the server was nice but not overly attentive. We ordered the grilled octopus. I think it was about $ 17. I almost laughed. They served one octopus leg with some pickled peppers and pita bread. Not worth $ 17 and Not satisfying. My wife ordered the eggplant and I ordered the bronzini — about $ 17 and $ 27 respectively. The eggplant was ok but there was more onion on the plate than eggplant, the skinny whole bronzini with broccoli Rabe was tasteless and again NOT filling. The merlot was weak maybe watered down. The bill for this little bit of food came to $ 89. I left a $ 20 tip because I work for a living too and although the server was not overly attentive she was quick. So if you want to get ripped off, leave hungry and feel left wanting more go to Its Greek to me. Why anyone would make a second visit is certainly Greek to me. p. s. I went home and ate two grilled cheese sandwiches because I was starving.

Bleh! I’ve eaten at both the Hoboken and Livingston branches of Its Greek to Me and have never had a good experience, but figured 3rd time might be a charm. I thought wrong. I should know that an ethnic restaurant with no patrons of that ethnicity dining there, is probably not going to be a good one. Another red flag was that the food ordered for my table came out literally within 5 minutes of ordering. Ummm… that could not have been properly cooked. That, or the restaurant keeps prepared plates of typically ordered dishes under a heat lamp. We ordered a lamb gyro and chicken souvlaki platter. Both dishes were barely edible. The lamb was chewy and tasteless, and it was drowning in tzaziki sauce. The chicken was bland. The only reason I will give 2 stars is because you can sit outside, by the beach, and sip on a decent selection of Greek beers. But next time I’m in Long Branch, I will dine elsewhere.
