We hadn’t had good sushi like this in a while. The hubby and I went here for our anniversary and ordered miso soup, garden salads, edamame(complimentary), and five rolls. Little did I know how filling just one roll would be! It’s really close to the beach so I’d love to go back and then take a stroll when the weathers nicer.

Great sushi in a calming setting. The lobster tempura roll was outstanding. Highly recommend.

Came here with my husband and brother-in-law and we were practically rolling out the door. The specials rolls are BIG, and they kept bringing out complimentary apps!

Went on a Friday night with a family of 3. We were seated immediately which was great since there really isn’t a place to easily wait. The restaurant is in at a small strip mall which is deceiving at first sight since the food is very good, portions are large, and the price is reasonable. Two of our members ordered sushi and one ordered tempura. There were plenty of leftovers. Will be glad to go again.

Went the other night and it was delicious. Do yourself a favor and check it out! The owner is so nice and always gives me a free fried tempura dessert

Came down from Massachusetts for a visit and tried this place. Izu has some of the best sushi I have ever had. Lots of very unique offerings here at an amazing price that doesnt gouge. Their hot and sour vegetable soup was also amazing.

I’ve been to quite a few sushi establishments in my time and this place fits more so towards the middle of the pack. First and foremost, me and my two dearest friends had a reservation, and were rudely forced to wait an obscene amount of time before being seated. I mean what’s even the point of a reservation then!!! The service was just very poor and lethargic with a mediocre ambiance. The only saving grace, was the pristine quality of the food which was quite exquisite. I swear, it’s like those chefs were just fishing out back and gutting those suckers right then and there because the sushi was just incredibly fresh. Sadly, another point I have to make is the matter of the poor sanitation of the restaurant. There were flies flying constantly around my table while I was trying to eat, and it just completely made me lose my appetite. Although the food here is above average, I can’t see myself returning here due to all the other poor factors. Maybe if I’m caught in a good mood one day at home, I’d reccomend this place to one of my friends. PSA to Izu management: Please work on correcting some of the flaws afore mentioned, I sense so much potential for this place but customer satisfaction should and always be your number one priority.

I suspect they’re saving the fresh stuff for the super-regulars, just like at most proper Japanese places. Unfortunately I’m not a regular. Hospitality here is exactly as other reviewers have raved about. Owner or General Manager graciously greets you as his guest. Wow. I’m excited. +++ wow, that is some awesome green tea! But… # seaweed salad is way too«green», not fresh. # green salad’s lettuce and veg is _really_pre-made, not spoiled, but not made-today fresh. — soft-shell crab appetizer is nicely hot, dry and not greasy, nice batter, but not enough flavor # baby octopus(Tako) atop spoiling daikon. Ew I hate that. Marinade is somehow not quite right. # zaruten soba(cold noodles with dipping broth) were OK, but they offered no broth. ### Tamago is not made here, or it’s from last month, tragically old and crusty. EPIC fail. What a shame. ## sea urchin(uni) tonight is NOT recommendable. If I were a regular, they’d probably have said no I should not have it tonight. — Alaska roll is as American roll-eaters would expect. I stay away from that stuff. ## spicy tuna roll is pre-made squishy mixer. Meh. ## eel-cucumber roll’s sauce is somehow not quite right, wrong sweetness. Sorry to review after only one visit, but this place seems to be missing its Master Chef, the one who guides the kitchen in proper Japanese preparations and execution. Either that, or I’m just Table6 and MC is busy giving attention to his super-regulars, and I am not one. What a shame.

Based on some of the more positive reviews, I bought a Groupon to try the food at Izu Sushi. Unfortunately, the promotional period expired before I was able to redeem it. No problem, I thought. I’m still interested in finding new sushi places because I love sushi(I am a regular at Umai, Hachi, Kumo, and Bluefin). The outside appearance was discouraging, as noted in many reviews. But let’s not judge a book by it’s cover. Inside was dark depressing and dirty. I let the waitstaff know I am using an expired Groupon because I didn’t want any surprises. I am not asking for the promotional value, simply the already paid cash value. Manager called over. They discuss the situation in Chinese(I am fluent). Long story short, management refused to honor the expired Groupon. As I leave, I think I lucked out. If promotions are intended to expose people to an establishment and its merchandise(food), I count myself exposed to Izu Sushi’s service, décor, hygiene, and menu. I wouldn’t go back to try their food now that I know what I know about them. There are enough decent Sushi places around which won’t require me to compromise on service or hygiene.

Based on their food, I would give them 5 stars. Based on their service, I would give them 0 stars. This place used to be amazing. I recently went there on a Sunday with 14 people for a birthday lunch. When we arrived, there were workers sleeping behind curtains in the corner. Everything that we ordered came out wrong(we ordered water and they brought soda, etc). It almost became comical. The piled up all of the sushi, soups, and salads at the end of the table and walked away. At the end of the meal, we asked for our check 5 times. They explained that they couldn’t figure it out. Calculator? They then brought out ‘tempura bananas,’ which had large tempura shrimp mixed in. Maybe this is a delicacy, but e just wanted to leave! I would 100% order take-out. Save the trouble of dining in.

Izu has consistently provided quality sushi at a great price for many years. The volcano roll and the sweetheart roll are my favorites but you can’t go wrong with anything really. Also every meal comes with free edamame which is so awesome. Also byob!

By far my favorite sushi place in the area. Quality and quantity is very good. Always fresh, and the rolls are larger than anywhere else. Drives me nuts to pay $ 12+ for a small roll of 6 pieces. Most rolls at Izu are much larger, around 10 pieces. Been visiting for over a decade, always great.

Don’t let the outside of this restaurant fool you! The outside may look crappy and small but I was amazed by the size of the restaurant when I got inside. The service is great! They gave us salad, miso soup and snow peas for starters. We ordered the Yaki Udon, Nabe Yaki Udon, and some rolls. And to finish off the dinner, they gave us oranges that were cut up in a unique way.

Sushi is always fresh. Summer roll and lobster dragon roll are my favorite. Cool atmosphere, the service is excellent. My favorite sushi spot. The fried wontons are also really good.

I love it! Me and my friends went there for the first time, ordering tic tac toc sushi and some other sushi and sashimi, they are all amazing! Some of them are what the chef newly invented, so special and tasty. And the service is also great. I would recommend it to all my friends!

Consistently Good I’ve been a regular here for years. There is no shortage of sushi restaurants in the area and I’ve tried them all but the food and service at Izu is consistently good. Service: The staff is attentive and helpful. If the owner happens to be by the entrance when you come in, you can expect to be greeted and treated like a VIP and wonder if he’s confusing you with someone else. He greets every customer the same way. Food: Always fresh. Recommendations: Vegetable Harumaki, Yellowtail Jalapeño app and the AK47BUT by far the best item they serve is the Baba Bouey Hand Roll. It’s not on the menu but if you’re lucky enough to try this it will be the best sushi you’ve ever had. Ask for it.

This is by far the best sushi spot around. We had the beef sashimi, calamari and sushi pizza to start. The beef sashimi is a must get. We then ordered 5 specialty rolls and a love boat of sushimi. It was fantastic. They were super friendly and send out some type of stir fry served in lettuce wraps on the house and it was delicious

Went in for lunch the other day and we loved the food, but the service was a mess. The chicken teriyaki was really really good and I would never usually order that. Sushi is always on point here along with the hot appetizers. We love the food and it’s great for the price. Service is intrusive, yet you can’t get anything you need without them making 5 or 6 trips. It makes the ordeal take forever and you can’t eat in the meantime because you need a freakin fork!
