I’d heard about this place on Unilocal and was in the area so I drive up and see a police car parked outside, which increased my confidence even more that the place must really be good.(Policemen always seem to know the good local spots). I walk in and the cop is behind the counter slicing meat for his own sandwich, I didn’t ask, but it made me smile and made me like the place even more. The older woman took my order and per Unilocal suggestions I ordered the chicken parm sandwich. It’s a phenomenal sandwich and I’ve driven an hour to get it a few times since this first experience. SO worth the trip for both the food and experience!

An adorable Italian deli does not even begin to describe the atmosphere of this quaint little place. I returned home to NJ for a visit, and had to get my husband(who is not an east coast native) a REAL sandwich. So I did some Unilocal research ;) and decided that this place was a must try. Having grown up in Monmouth County my entire life, and having attended Monmouth University, I am saddened that I’ve never heard of this place sooner! It was most definitely delicious! I ordered a cold sandwich with roasted chicken breast, roasted red peppers, fresh mozz, and balsamic. It was a delicious combination but I just was not all that impressed with the roll it came on. My husband ordered the chicken Parm sandwich, which I greedily took a bite of and YUM!!! I was sad that there were no pastries, cookies or cannoli’s. but having read all the previous reviews, I knew not to expect them.

This is the best deli in the world! I have visited Ocean View since I was a preteen(almost twenty years). Subway and other places are put to shame due to its existence. I love the strong yet friendly personalities of the family that runs this deli. Italy is brought right to Long Branch through and through. The matriarch puts hefty amounts of meat on every sandwich. I always get a turkey provolone but I am dying to try a hot sub. Visit this place asap!

We stopped here based on reviews when we were in town. It was a nice drive down main street America compared to all the turns and twists of all the highways we had taken while staying in NJ. The bakery was open on a Sunday morning we wanted some fresh cannolis(lol, that’s a regular with us) but they don’t make them anymore. We did pick up a few fresh pastries. I didn’t get a picture as we gobbled and drove for our next lighthouse destination. We got an apple and a cheese danish. Yummy! The pastry was so light and fluffy. Obviously fresh. It flaked off while we were eating it but we were careful to not waste the crumbs too. If we go back we will stop there again and check out some lunch specials and of course end with one of those delicious pastries!

The best Italian deli and sandwiches in the area, hands down… In fact it’s not even close. If this place was in NYC it would be famous by this point. True homemade food, no shortcuts and as authentic as it comes. I’ve been all over Southern Italy and Sicily, you could put this place in either area and it would be a hit there. That’s saying a lot, especially considering I’m Sicilian. Don’t waste the calories on cold cuts, go with any of the Parms or a traditional Italian choice. A whole sandwich is literally 18 inches long. No kids working behind the desk here, only a genuine old school Italian women who I believe they call Mama. She’s the best, just adds to the overall experience.

My soon to be brother-in-law came home with some subs from Oceanview Bakery the other day and had nothing but good things to say. Being New Jersey born and raised I heeded his sage like wisdom on the subject of New Jersey Italian delis and was not disappointed. In search of a pork roll, egg and cheese we stopped by and grabbed one as well as a chicken parm. Wow. Well worthy of their reputation and the five star reviews.

Came here for a chicken parm and we were the only ones with the 2 owners. They were very friendly and delivered a good sandwich. Recommended if you are around.

What an adorable place(and by place I mean the Italian Nona who runs it). The setting is a cross between a typical deli counter and grandma’s kitchen, both of which make this NY Italian girl feel at home. I will preface this review with the fact the gentleman in this fabulous couple was not there today. However Joanne had it on lockdown. I barely made my way through the door before hearing a friendly«Hello! What do you want to have today» in a thick Italian accent. I looked over the menu passing over the«normal» deli cuts and instead looking at the prosciutto/roasted pepper/mozzarella, pepper and egg, and sausage and pepper sandwiches. I followed the sage advice of other Unilocalers and ordered one of my favorite foods of all time — eggplant parm. Victory! Rich, hearty, saucy, fabulous eggplant parm. I typically like my eggplant cut on the thicker side, whereas this was thin, but the multiple layers helped get the eggplant volume I wanted. The sauce was obviously cooked for several hours giving it that rich salty sweet flavor. Quickly simmered sauces tend to be thinner and more raw tomato-y. The half size sandwich was huge, and 2⁄3 left me stuffed well into the evening. The hero roll it was on wasn’t special. Actually a little too Wonderbread /white bread style for me. Next time I’ll take it as an entrée instead of a sandwich. $ 6.50 even makes it a bargain. There were no pastries or bakery goods to speak of while I was there. There was however a revolving door of regulars who obviously know a good thing when they’ve found it. Joanne — I’ll be seeing you the next time I’m in Long Branch.

BEST Eggplant Parmigiana on the planet! So good, you think of it in your sleep! Joanne is the sweetest, wittiest and kindest lady! She loves to feed people and for decades has served the community of Long Branch as someone we hold in the highest regard! Your community loves you and we think you rock as a cook! Her subs are also prepared with large love the Jersey Shore way! This small hole in the wall off the main roads has a secret chef with magic in her hands the way she cooks!

Best chicken parm sub EVER. If you are in the area, you have to eat lunch here. Truly authentic old school Italian sub shop and bakery. Feels like I stepped back 40 years in time. Amazing.

Amazing little italian deli run by two italian grandparents. I had an excellent chicken parm sandwich — one of the best I’ve had, living in North Jersey for my entire life. It was HUGE and reasonably priced. Highly recommended!!!

I found the reviews online when in town for a wrestling tournament for my son. I stopped in for a to go sub and it was amazing. The next day I went back with some friends and got another sub and it was extra amazing. I can not say enough good things about this place. Prices are very reasonable and the subs are huge. We went in the afternoon and around dinner so the bakery didn’t have much however the apple turnovers that were left were amazing as well. Not sure what the selection is like in the morning

Best chicken parm sub I have ever eaten. Period. The ambiance is worth the visit alone. And I can’t help but over pay every time Im here because she is sweater than anything in the«bakery». Visit this blast from the past and enjoy authentic Italian kitchen from your Grandma without having the ever so important vowel at the end of your name.

This stop is worth it, and not only for the food. It is like eating in an Italian family’s kitchen. They worry about you liking the food, and getting enough to eat. Mama fixes the best subs, and Joanne brings the pasta dishes from the back. Papa monitors the customer’s reactions, and tells Joanne if someone doesn’t seem happy. It was more than good food, it was a fun experience.

Home-cooked Italian food. Had a plate with meatballs and egg plant. It was a great lunch. Very friendly people. This place is tiny, but highly recommended for the characters.

This place is a treasure. Growing up in the Lower East Side of Manhattan we used to have these quaint Mom and Pop delis and I truly was glad to visit this place. Brings back lots of memories. The food and ambiance was great and the owners are down to earth. We were down there for the New Jersey Marathon and we ordered our pre and post marathon meals there. Huge sandwiches! We are participating in the marathon again next year and will definitely come back to this place!

Came here with a large group of friends during the marathon weekend. This place did not disappoint. The sandwiches were generously sized and delicious and the owners were lovely. While we sat there, quite a few customers came in with the express purpose of saying hello and it was charming to see that this place is truly beloved by the community. We liked this place so much that we wound up ordering from them for our post-marathon party the next day!
