This place has gone downhill. The food is no where near what it use to be. The staff is absolutely useless. Catering was an hour late for my sons christening. Tried placing an order tonight and was told 45min only to find out there was a misunderstanding and they were waiting for my call. The owner stated the staff is new, well it’s time to reevaluate the current staff! What a shame.

Quality of food has changed tremendously, not sure if they are cutting corners with food but it’s not the same.

Stopped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon. Typical Portuguese place. Only saw one woman working and she was very friendly. Food was OK, nothing special but good for a quick meal instead of typical fast food. Seems like a better place for a very casual dinner with sone friends rather than lunch. Prices were a little high but reasonable. May return if I’m in the area again. There was a cool looking machine in the front for making fresh squeezed orange juice that i would love to try.

The food not authentic, the chicken came on grill but it wad not grilled at all! The rice was neutral but the fries was good. Food came fast. During checking out they added 20% extra charge to dine in plus we had to pay for tips… they should inform their customers about the hidden prices before they accommodate them. it is first and last time…

I happened to stop by when coming back from the shore and ordered an empanada along with Portuguese fries. My sister ordered the pulled pork sandwich. I love salty food, and it was perfect. My sister on the other hand, said it was too salty. The reason I gave it 4 stars was because I didn’t order anything fancy out of the elaborate menu..(Many options) However, the owner stepped in during our service and made me some espresso iced coffee and I’m currently sipping on it. It is absolutely AMAZING. Would definitely come again.

A Nice place for a quick meal in your way to the beach. They also deliver to the boardwalk which is awesome. The only thing that I would eat there is their BBQ chicken

We are a company here in Eatontown that decided to order from here. I’m Portuguese and i have to say this food was poorly executed. The Carne Alentejana looked like Carne Alentejana Soup. Food arrived 35 minutes late. They forgot the Presidents food and he had to share a sandwich with someone else. As a portuguese person I’m embarrased to say this is portuguese food. I’m serious, really embarrased. Needless to say no one here in the office will be buying again, very sad as i was excited to have a portuguese BBQ so close to work. All i can say is fire your cook and hire a seasoned professional portuguese cook. When you get your shit together then maybe then may we consider you again.

Got a paella to go and it was huge for the price. Quite one note and everything sort of tasted the same… Was expecting more with this place.

Terrible experience. I ordered 2 hamburgers and waited 35 minutes. I complained a few times and was told it was coming up but never did. When I got home all I had was two burgers that had no juice, dried out, most likely because the gas attentent slash cook most likely pushed the meat down on the grill to cook on a cold grill in an effort to finally get it done. Go out of business like your neighbor two doors down. No talent in the kitchen or front of the house. Go away. To all, don’t waste your time. Anyone who likes this place must be related or never ate outside of Joline. Go away

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday after having driven past the place many times. Noticed it was BYOB friendly, so I went to the liquor store in the same strip mall and bought an inexpensive Portuguese Red Wine.(Liquor store was awful). I had the chorico omelet and my companion had the BBQ chicken. They chicken was as good as any other Portuguese BBQ I’ve had(I’ve eaten in many of them in NJ). The rice needed a little more flavor. The bread was excellent. My omelet tasted like the ones I make at home when I but Portuguese sausage(Linguicia). Too bad it was a special o the day and not regularly on the menu. I’ll go back when I’m in the area.

Great Portuguese BBQ. Good portions not salty like typical port. BBQ from Newark for example. Prices are decent as well

It’s really unfortunate that this restaurant has gone so far downhill so fast. We just got our order and not only were we told that that the beef short rib platter was going up in price but we got less than what we normally would get for a full order AND the empanadas were half the size of what they usually make them. Really a shame… don’t charge me more and give me less. We will not be back.

Horrible place. Every time I come here the snobby lady at the counter is always to busy making personal calls or no interest in helping the only customer in the restaurant. 15 houses away and still took over an hour to deliver. So I picked it up and the lady again was so rude I didnt even want my food at this point. she even had the nerve to call my fiances phone which I made the order and tell them I was rude??? Are you kidding me! I will never step foot in that place. try the Brazilian Bbq by monmouth park. More food for better prices

Expensive for what you get!!! And the quality of the food is not all that great! Don’t charge me $ 16.00 for a small styrofoam chicken and rib combo with rice when I can go down the street and get the same thing and enough to feed 3. I’m a local and strive for authentic cuisine and there are many other places I would highly recommend before this place. 2 Stars because I still want to see local businesses succeed!!!

Coming back from the shore, my boyfriend and I decided to stop somewhere to eat. We were driving by when we noticed a Portuguese BBQ restaurant. Being that he’s Portuguese and I’m Brazilian, we decided to give it a try. To start, we ordered the clams in garlic sauce. Usually the clams I’ve had at Portuguese restaurants are served in a white wine sauce, but they served theirs in a reddish sauce. Even my boyfriend, thought it was a little strange since he had never seen it served like that. The clams were good, even though I do prefer the white wine sauce much more. I ordered one of my favorite dishes at Portuguese restaurants, the Jumbo Shrimp Prawns, as my entrée. They were served with rice and fries, which were good. The prawns on the other hand were good, but not what I was expecting. Usually the prawns have been marinated. However, they actually gave me the sauce on the side. Not to mention, it looked like the same kind of sauce that was served with the clams. I was expecting some kind of kick to the sauce, but again it was missing. They had also overcooked the shrimp a bit. Don’t get me wrong, it was still edible, but I was expecting much more. My boyfriend had ordered the Chicken Breast and Shrimp in Garlic Sauce. I didn’t get a chance to taste it but he did mention that the Chicken Breast had been overcooked. Again, edible but a little underwhelming. As we were leaving, we saw some people eating what looked like the Piri Piri Grill. It actually smelled and looked pretty good. Maybe we should have just stuck to that instead.

On the way to the beach with my Portuguese mother and my little cousin we stopped by here to grab a bite. well a bite turned into a whole chicken plus samples of pulled pork, ribs and a few other things. First and foremost, congrats to the owners for opening up the restaurant in a great location. Secondly, the staff and owner on sight were very attentive and offered samples of different dishes(thank you again). The prices are average for the area but def lower then the prices for most BBQ restaurants up in Northern NJ. The bbq chicken was cooked perfectly, not too burnt but not too soft, just crispy enough to eat the skin along with the meat. The way the chicken was served was interesting .it was served on an old fashion cast iron tray with hot coals keeping it nice and hot the whole time, making the chicken crispy to my liking. The dishes all come with rice and french fries as well(large portions on top of it all). They also carry Portuguese beverages like Sumol de Laranja(orange) and Ananas(pineapple) which was a plus. To end the meal we each got an espresso and the owner would not let us leave until we tried the housemade cheesecake as well as a few other desserts. Needless to say, I had a carb coma on the way to the beach. The establishment is clean and modern by the way which is a plus given some of the restaurants I’ve visited in nearby towns. Keep up the great work!

Maybe it’s because I am use to the portuguese food made in the Ironbound. or traveling to portugal and eating it there. and the Acores Islands. but. No. We got here and the place had a couple of people in it. We were seated by the owner I guess… We had the steak with egg and ham.. The egg was over-cooked. the steak was fatty. and the sauce. was definitely Cambell’s canned gravy. .THATSNOT how its suppose to be at all. The broth is suppose to be thin and steak-like. NOT thick. The bread was cold. Not even served warm. the steak bits with shrimp and chorizo was served in a pot. WHAT? . no. Thats not right either… plus it was cooked again in Cambells Gravy sauce. I guess we just should have gone for something BBQ because that is what they are known for… can’t have great authentic Portuguese food, in a bbq«churrasquira«. Pass./

Been here a couple of times and liked this place a lot. Daughter loves the casserole pot whenever we get the paella. Ordered the bacalau bras, which cod with eggs and potatoes, which was pretty good. Hubs ordered the shrimp in garlic sauce., which was tasty. Been eyeballing the bbq whenever people ordered it. Looks good. Will have to try that soon!

Port Chop is a nice find. You’ll find authentic, but a little on a dry side, Portuguese BBQ. What it lacks in quality, it makes up in quantity as you should expect a huge portion. I really like this place and I hope you will too. Cheers.

My friend and I eat here not that often(we work about 30 minute away from this place), but we always crave for food from here. We normally get the BBQ chicken and split it 3 ways. Huge portions and the chicken is perfectly cooked. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. It is not too saucy and not spicy either. The pork bits casserole was outstanding, as mentioned in other reviews. The prices are very reasonable for the portion size. The owner(co-owner?) is present in the restaurant during lunch time and is very friendly and engaging. I am going to be in this area tonight and I will pick up a BBQ chicken and Shrimp in Garlic sauce for dinner tonight. I am sure it will feed my family of 2 kids, my wife and I.
