It would be so easy to trash this place I mean: Its almost always crowded and there is only one or two guys that know how to work the lottery machine(that is really annoying). That said, the one thing that saves it is the management. One time I was sick and seeing as I worked in the area I decided to get some tea from 7⁄11 I was the ONLY guy in the place besides the cashier and this old guy he was chatting with. I go to pay and I get ignored… the cashier leaves me standing there like an asshole for 5 minutes while he chats. When I speak up, I just get ignored. Finally I left the tea there and left the store. I sent an email to corporate who contacted the manager(A really nice guy btw). He contacted me personally to apologize and told me the cashier had been dealt with(Never saw him again fyi). He gave me 2 free protein bars for me trouble. That made all the difference between a one star rating and a 4 star rating. Thanks manager guy! =)

This 7-Eleven is the antithesis of convenient. No parking lot or public parking of any kind. It may work for the College/HS kids, but in between their classes this place turns into balmy(read un-air conditioned) disorganized zoo of undisciplined teens. Avoid if possible during school hours!

This 7 Eleven has a decent selection, but the lines are a bit too long. Gotta love those ubiquitous CitiBank ATMs. I often stop in here for a drink on my way to school. On a more personal note, I’m just not the kind of guy to try the hot food selections there. I’m not sure a 16-hour old taquito on a rotating table basking in the warm glow of a heat lamp would agree with me. So I can’t review that, the hot dogs, or the dollar pizza slices. I also have no idea about the $ 3 «fresh» sandwiches, but I’m assuming they’re merely okay. You know what they say about gas station sushi, right? Anyway, the most I ever buy here is a soda. But at least they’re polite, and it’s clean.

What’s not to like about 7 Eleven? Almost all, and I mean 99% of them, that I have been to are neat and stock on the run items to fuel your day when full service restaurants or retail outlets are unavailable and all the other businesses(particularly near this location) are closed due to holidays or Sundays. I am writing about this one because it is my go to 7 Eleven and has been for years. It is across the street from LaGuardia Community College’s E building. On some days, you get students lined up 12 people long and the line refills. On slow days, no one at all. They have always been there to meet the needs of that: «want something but not sure what crave» or «uh, I need junk food». If 7 Eleven started providing gourmet items, more essential products, restrooms, seating and I am pushing it, offered delivery, they would be a 5 star full service in my book. This one in particular has an extra: recently Amazon Pickup Locker along with what the others have: Citibank ATM, chips/cigarettes, a handful of new coffees(with the little marshmallows, not even Starbucks does that), sandwiches/wraps/fruits/salads, their signature Slurpees, junk food, hotdogs/pizza/tacos about two handfuls of refrigerators with soda, ice cream and who has never bought beer(Heineken, Stella Artois, Mike’s Hard Lemonade) at a 7 Eleven? Let’s speak of the donuts. They are pretty good in my book, I recall 7 Elevens use to stock Krispy Kreme, I guess that contract between them ended. But I think fresh 7 Eleven donuts are soft and very good. Let’s speak of their nachos with the plastic yellow stuff they call cheese and questionable meat like stuff(better version of Pink Goop?) that comes out of the dispenser you can put on top of the nachos… I use to love and down this stuff when I was younger and I am still alive and still have not grown a third nipple, so I guess that stuff is safe, even though recent years I have consumed it much less. Their pizzas are pretty good, sometimes during a special, just $ 1. But their hotdogs, no matter what you put on them, are just no good. And everyone knows that in the summer, their ice cold High Fructose Corn Syrup-ed Slurpees are just straight up a treat to cool off, e.g. my fave: the Pina Colada.

The area near LaGuardia Community College is a barren wasteland when it comes to food, I am surprised of the piss poor choices and lack thereof in this neighborhood, having worked here for a few years, moving over from Midtown Manhattan, i was shocked and appalled to the extent where I do not buy lunch any longer… 7 Eleven is one of the few saving graces here, along with VanDam Diner. You can get hot dogs, pizza and wings here(i know it’s microwaved crap), but it’s still as good as most delis in the general area. The store is usually clean, fully stocked, and the prices are the same as any other 7⁄11 you have visited, it’s cheaper than most places in this neighborhood and the college students flock to this place because it’s within a stone’s throw of the main entrance and it’s 7/11, how can you go wrong?

As far a 7 Eleven’s go, this one is ok. They are always busy since LaGuardia Community College is right across the street. Considering the crowd, the employees work fairly quickly, sometimes too quickly, to get you out the door. My biggest peeve is the fact that I have found expired merchandise on the shelves on two separate occasions. I am not talking about a month expired or even a couple of months, but rather an entire year! I brought the item to the employee behind the register, yet the next day I saw the item right back on the shelf. I highly suggest you check the expiration date on any items purchased prior to exiting the store.

Okay. I feel silly reviewing a convenience store, but they actually have half-decent sandwiches at cheaper prices than the nearby«real food» stores. When I need a monster-size diet coke and a quick sandwich for lunch, I can get it here for 5.00. The pizza – not that great, but it will fill you up on the cheap. And the potato wedges are actually good! So…cheap eats, quick, portable. Not delicious, but no tipping a server, either!
