Recently, a friend needed advice regarding a family heirloom Steinway. We had an unforgettable experience with Alex. He is passionate about what he does, is old school, and training a new generation of piano techs from the ground up. Alex was honest regarding the condition problems of the instrument needing restoration, and suggested several strategies. He also professionally opined the money would only be worth investing if the instrument were to remain in the family as an heirloom. (extremely ethical— a huge boon these days!)
Alex gave us the name of an expert in the Boston area, who could assess the instrument in person, and possibly guide the owner toward a charity donation where the instrument would be of service. A great experience. They are very thorough and trustworthy. I am a professional singer, and voice teacher, using my piano as a work tool, and recommend them highly. Service of this level and commitment is almost nonexistent today.
