Meadow Lake Boathouse

Watching a friend race dragon boats and had a blast. Hang out at the boathouse for bird watching or aquatic activity. A bit off the beaten path but worth the trip. It’s a lake in the middle of Queens!

This place is a awesome little escape from everything basically.
Meadow Lake Boathouse provides seasonal rentals by «Wheel Fun Rentals». My first time here, we got the row boat and I did all the friggin’ work and it was horrible.
Fast forward 20 minutes later, I rowed back and got the peddle boat (seats 2, $ 15.00 hourly) and that was perfect.
Life vest is a must.
I usually stop by subway, grab a bunch of portable food and head over in the «Lake» to spend about 1 hour + on the water. I also bring a canvas Sun Hat/​sunglasses to alleviate any burning. And don’t forget water gun, bubble machine, kite, drones etc.

I really wished they had more convenient entrances from the Jewel side of the park. Came here to show some support for the Dragon Boat Race. Didn’t think I had to walk 2 miles to the event from where I parked. Granted there were a lot of people and I’m sure they needed to have a control parked side. Overall it’s a great place to ride your bike, have BBQ gatherings, or just chillax at the fields with a book and some good music. Definitely a great place to get lost in. When you feel like you need a bit of escape of the city life.

I love boats, lakes, urban wildlife and Flushing Meadows Corona Park — there’s no way I could give this place anything less than 5 stars. This place also has a bike rental and they are open on weekends only. I also like the fact that this place is so underdiscovered.
