I started wearing glasses when I was 13 years old and I have been coming to this place ever since. I won’t reveal my age — but it’s definitely just about twenty years haha! I know the staff very well and they have never steered me wrong! Always courteous and professional! When I make appointments I’ve never had to wait either. The doctor takes his time with you and makes sure all questions are answered. Always explains things in detail too which is very helpful if you ever have any eye issues other than the norm. If you want particular frames or anything they are always helpful in getting you whatever you want.
I honestly have no complaints about this place! I highly recommend!

I’m disappointed to be writing this review. Astoria and its businesses are some of my family’s favorite places to go. However, let it be known that the service received here was absolutely disgusting. There are 100 optometry shops around and we unfortunately chose the most difficult one. After nothing but a calm kind exchange on our end, we were treated horribly. Maybe our insurance isn’t the fanciest, but it’s all we can afford after such a difficult few years. The person helping us claimed to be a family member of the establishment in justification for her attack towards us. My heart hurts at the fact that not only were we treated this way, but we recommend friends there and are finding out that they too received similar treatment. I am hoping that they don’t continue to treat anyone this way. It’s very sad and to be honest is completely unacceptable.

This place was recommended by a friend. I was initially skeptical because the reviews weren’t so great, but I am really happy I tried them out. The receptionist was warm and helpful and the doctor was super knowledgeable and thorough. I have been wearing contacts for over 20 years and this was by far the most thorough exam I have ever had. I, in turn, will recommend them to others.

This is a solid place, the customer service is a little gruff, but the prices are reasonable and the eye care is good. I like having a small family owned place like this in the neighborhood, have had ghastly experiences with big chains like Cohen’s and this place is leagues above them.

I’ve been going to Schrier Optical for over 20 years, and I have never had a problem. Mike Schrier is friendly, open, and honest. His brother, Larry, is the same, only funnier! On the rare occasion that I’ve had a problem, Mike has gone out of his way to help make things right. Once, my son broke his glasses. I called Mike and he had a replacement pair ready the next day.
Mike and Larry are real mensches!

I have been coming here for a few years. I have seen two different optometrists, both were very nice and helpful. They explained everything in an easy to understand manner. When I went in for contacts the assistant was super helpful and patient while I learned to put them in. And both times I have come in for new glasses the assistant was REALLY great helping me pick out frames, since I had no one with me to be a second opinion. I have never had a bad experience here. The only thing is sometimes you wait a while for your appointment, but that is true of every doctor’s office.

I’ve been going to Dr. Schrier for 7 years; since he was at his old location up on Ditmars. I’ve always had friendly, professional service from both him and his brother. They’ll take care of you. I recommend them to anyone in Astoria, or even close to Astoria in Manhattan.

Very unpleasant experience… they were very unprofessional and I can tell
nasty. I even felt discrimination. I would recommend to everyone, please don’t go there. For them even one star is to much, they deserve zero…

I bought my glass’s here. The lenses kept falling out.
I will never go back there.
