I’ve been to brunch here several times(the eggs benedict with salmon is the best!!) but am a little bummed that they changed their fries. They used to have these delicious, thin, perfectly crisp and seasoned fries, but I just went to brunch over New Year’s weekend and they were like mediocre dinner fries. I’m definitely still a fan of the restaurant, but it’s too bad one of my fave things is no longer as doooope…

This place is one of the best in LIC. The food is great. I highly recommend the mussels. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable on wine. Would definitely go back!

Tried their dinner and it was awesome. First, their prices are extremely reasonable. The best in the neighborhood I think. Second, the waiters are literally the cutest most charming men I’ve ever seen in my life. I’m in love. Third, the interior is cozy and romantic. Fourth, the food is truly some of the best I’ve had. I recommend anything on the specials menu– the chef gets really creative with those. But everything is so good. Nothing is over the top or heavy and its minimally processed. The presentation is great and the flavors are intricate. Also get the floating island for dessert. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever eaten!

***R U D E*** Btw I don’t really go outta my way to post a review unless it’s worth talking about(this is only the 2nd review I’ve posted in the long history of my Unilocal career) The entire night, it seemed like they were rushing us. Barely had time for appetizer(they asked to clear the plate only after 5−7min they served the damn dish). Food: not bad but not great, just aiiiite. Don’t bother getting those runt mussels Their effin service: R U S H E D. Their attitude seemed like«Ok so, now that you had a bite, pay and get the F out?!?» They only accept cash/amex, so boyfriend stepped out to pull out cash and I happen to step into the bathroom. During this time, they clear off the table, which was HALF bottle unfinished wine and our food!!! We ended up paying $ 100+ for rushed, unfinished food and wine. I was actually pissed that boyfriend was generous enough to tip them! I dunno, maybe we just had a shitty brunette haired server that just wanted to end his night or the restaurant owner is an aspiring millionaire who coaches his/her employees to rip people off(still pissed that boyfriend paid the bullshit bill, let alone tipped them)

Tournesol is top notch. A few if the reasons I have stayed away are primarily the cramped shoulder to shoulder seating and the loud dining room that makes it impossible to hear your dinner partners. I would instead occasionally opt for a delicious outdoor Sunday brunch. I recently came here with a group of friends. The four of us were blown away with how great the meal was. So good was it that we literally let go of the discomfort of the tight squeeze. We even let go of the frustration of barely hearing ourselves speak. The food was that good. Service was particularly good that night. Wine selections are excellent. We will now try to figure out which are the quiet nights and definitely go back.

What a gem this restaurant is. Most of my favorite French wines are listed, the selection is affordable and authentic and the desserts are great(and a mere $ 6 at lunchtime!) I have been for both lunch and dinner and really enjoyed the terrine, cauliflower gratin, goat cheese salad, and ile flottante. Small with good service by French staff.

The only reason for my 4-star review and not 5 stars is because I want to leave room for an even better meal next visit! We planned to go to the Wine Bar next door but with no outside seating and a limited menu at Wine Bar were drawn to Tournesol. And the cool Fiat parked outside didn’t hurt. I was greeted by Antoine, the Frenchman with the Italian name. He was extremely pleasant, helpful, knowledgeable. I requested an outside table, the are just three so if I took a quick walk could he text me? You bet. Say at the bar for a drink with Antoine then seated outside in perfect weather. Our server was Nico, the Frenchman with the Italian name. Ordered the special crostini app(goat cheese, pine nuts, amazing figs, arugula) it was perfect. My guest had the grilled shrimp salad and said it was great, and fresh. But the superstar of this meal was the escargot. The sauce was so complex, rich, sweet, and peppery. The snails were firm, not rubbery but tough and flavorful, I can’t get them out of my head. And I don’t want to. He head was still spinning when the dessert arrived. Idon’t even remember what it was our what it was called.(I took a picture so I’d have a visual aid) because it was so good. I’d go back. No, I will go back. I will return soon.

The environment and staffs are very nice. We started off with the sautéed snail as appetizer and also ordered the mussel(entrée dish) as appetizer as well. The mussel was absolutely delicious but the sautéed snail was a bit too salty. For entrée, we ordered the duck, hanger steak and also chicken with garlic. The duck was alright but the sauce was a bit too sweet imo. My friend ordered the hanger steak as medium, I personally like my steak medium rare so I can’t judge too much on the steak because it’s bit too cooked for me. The texture of the hanger steak is pretty tender but not much flavor even with the sauce. The outside of the steak is a bit burnt so the steak itself is just alright. The chicken with garlic was disappointing. The chicken skin is burnt and the meat was very dry. The potato side that came with the chicken taste pretty good so I ate most of the potato and didn’t want to finish the chicken. Now for dessert, we ordered the special for the day which is shortbread cookies with raspberry sauce, a order of crème brûlée and also the floating island. The crème brûlée is pretty good but it tasted like any normal crème brûlée. I love the floating island because it’s very smooth but my friend think it’s too sweet(but hey it is dessert right). For the cookie, I don’t really like raspberry sauce but the cookie itself is very buttery and yummy . Overall, this is a must try French cuisine restaurant. You will have a wonderful experience.

Amazing customer service and prices! A bunch of girlfriends and I came here for brunch one Sunday after the wait for another restaurant was over an hour. We liked this place so much that we were glad we didn’t go to the original restaurant. It was a lovely day and this restaurant had outdoor seating. Also they opened up all the doors, so even sitting at a table inside was like sitting outside. The waitress had a lovely french accent and always asked us if we needed anything. Our waters were refilled every time without having to ask. The prices were great too! $ 2 for a coffee and $ 9.50 for a large plate of Eggs Benedict with prosciutto, fries and salad. These are my kind of prices! Only downside was they only accept American Express and cash(reminded me of Costco). As we all had Visas, we had to scramble to get our bill paid but that was only a little hiccup.

‘Magnifique!’ would be appropriate to describe this homey and authentic French bistro. I’ve dined here for dinner three times and the food has been consistently delicious. Good food with good friends and good French wine. Life is good. The wine selections do change from time to time, but you can always find a dry white to your liking. The must-try items are the goat cheese croquette salad, steak frites and for dessert, the marquise au chocolat. We will be back to try the brunch especially as the weather gets warmer and the outdoor dining is available. I am ‘optimiste’ that a weekend brunch would be as ‘délicieux’ as the weeknight dinners. (disclosure: Google is my BFF when I need to look up French adjectives).

Probably my favorite French Restaurant in all of the 5-boroughs. It’s a small bistro but the chef cooks some great French classics. My girlfriend is from France and she thinks its the closest meal she can get to home cooking. If you’re out in LIC and looking for a bite to eat, don’t get sucked into Shi or Blend. Go to Tournesol.

Very nice and cozy French restaurant in LIC. I came here for the 20th anniversary dinner which I didn’t know but they run a special menu in March for a couple of days where you can get a 3 course meal for $ 20. You can’t beat that anywhere in queens! I had the roasted chicken special which was very flavorful, started with a ceaser salad of some sort which was delicious and also Apple crisp dessert. The food was great and each course came out perfectly timed. Service was excellent! The bathroom was hard to find as it was tucked away in the kitchen which was odd. A nice hidden gem in LIC, right off the Vernon blvd 7 train. I will definitely come back! Fyi– bring cash as they only take AMEX

After 20 years in Manhattan, I fretted that upon moving to Long Island City finding a dependable French Bistro would be a challenge. Enter Tournesol. Problem solved. It’s our go to spot. We’ve tried Café Henri and been disappointed all three times. Not so with Tournesol. Both the kitchen and service are steady and consistently very good. Admittedly the service can be harried at peak hours, but we have always found them to polite and doing their best. We’ve worked in the service industry. We get it. Recommended dishes: Frisee Lardon, Onion Soup, Foie Gras(Sublime), Eggs Benny/Royal/Florentine, Steak Frites, Trout Meuniere, Gigot d’Agneau(Saturday Special), and of course, the Burger. We’ve always done very well with the wine list too. Tip #1: It’s a small room. At peak hours it can get cramped and crowded, especially when parents bring their toddlers in and allow them to scream bloody murder and run around the restaurant like total savages. As such, if you’re looking for a quiet dinner on Saturday at 7:30pm, perhaps you should try somewhere else. To avoid the screaming savages(and the parents who coddle them) we tend to stick to early or late for dinner on weekends and a bit later in the afternoon for brunch. Tip #2: They only take AMERICANEXPRESS!

I had brunch with family members here and the staff was incredibly accommodating. A few of our members were late and the staff was patient enough to wait for the rest of our party. I ordered the french toast with fruit. It was delicious. I will definitely be back for it. Others ordered pancakes, skirt steak and omelettes. It was a lot of food and we were all stuffed by the end of it.

If it hadn’t been for the foie gras, this experience would’ve been an utter disaster. Let me begin by saying the foie gras is perfect: smooth, decadent, and served with ideal accouterments(fig jam, grilled bread, salad). You can see that it’s made in-house, for as you spread it on the delicious bread, it’ll gently break apart into the partial lobes it was made from before. The other entrees, though, are a complete mess. The«fish of the day» was a salmon entrée. What I received looked like a regular fillet crumbled into unidentifiable bits, something they might serve a cat. A nearby patron asked me if it was tuna salad. Random string beans were strewn about and the almond cream sauce was disgusting. My friend ordered a chicken panini(which took over one hour to arrive, even though we told them to bring the food out immediately), which looked equally unappetizing and tasted worse. To be fair, the restaurant is very small and I could only discern a single person handling all the food running, order taking, bartending, and general house management. I don’t know how many people were in the kitchen. Other patrons remarked that the food and service can be hit or miss. I guess I’d rather go somewhere else than gamble with the misses.

Gf never been here and it’s been on her LIC bucket list. The vibe feels a bit more French than Café Henri located across the street, but the food is a different story. It took them a while to get us menus but I’m not really going to biatch about that. Forgot my spoon for the onion soup, but not a big deal. Why mention it then? Well… so I can have something to write about damn it. The onion soup wasn’t great. It was cold in one place and hot in another. The cheese used wasn’t that salty and tasty either. I saw the table across get the salmon and lox. It’s not really called salmon and lox but I’m not going to make the attempt to pronounce it. I think bagel places have it better than this version. Not that great either. The eggs benedict looked reasonable but I only got one bite so I can’t judge. I also think they charged me $ 3 – 4 dollars for hot chocolate made with Swiss Miss. Hats off fo them trying to dress it up. This place is worth a try — it might be a different experience for others, but… Café Henri — I’m sorry I betrayed you.

I have been eyeing this place for quite some time now. It looked like a pretty chill place specially at night. Came in for brunch Saturday. A generous 2 stars for crappy service and ok food. I got their Eggs Benedict Royal and shared their French Onion soup. The soup was alright. It was not properly heated. Parts of it was cold. A bit odd. Not as good as Café Henri’s either. And server girl didn’t even bother giving us a spoon for it. Eggs Benedict had smoked salmon on top of charred(yes charred) English muffin. I like my toast almost burnt and crispy but this wasn’t. It’s just burnt. Bitter bread with salty smoked salmon wasn’t pleasant. It was also served with greens and soggy French fries. If it wasn’t for the perfectly cooked poached eggs and my grumbling belly, I wouldn’t eat this. Service was terrible. Bf and I stared at each other for quite awhile, looking for some kind of menu board. Anywhere. Place wasn’t really packed. I watch the girl go in and out of their kitchen, chitchat with the gent by the bar making the drinks and look at every table. She must’ve glanced at ours at least twice without realizing we do not have a menu. Oh and yes, I almost forgot, I ordered hot chocolate. It’s a glorified Swiss miss packet. How do I know? I saw the guy make it. I didn’t even check how much it was. Most likely about the price of a box at the supermarket. Looking for a great French restaurant in the area? Do not look here. Café Henri is a stone throw away. Look that way, you’re welcome.
