The dessert looks better than they are. Disappointed dry cake, poor pie crust Downstairs is outstanding. Decent fruit pies. Underwhelming crust.

The Haye loft has light meals, a little overpriced. The desserts are to die for! The real reason to go, besides the desserts, is the nightly live musical entertainment– jazz, Great American Songbook. Sometime guests who clearly had a musical career get up and sing. It is a very convivial atmosphere.

Loved the pepper steak pizza and spinach salad. For dessert… the key lime pie was excellent. Must come back for the banana cream pie.

The Haye Loft Lounge and Dessert Bar is upstairs from the Euphemia Haye Restaurant. We were lucky to get a table before it filled up for dinner on a Monday evening in February. Service was very pleasant. We did not catch any musicians when we were there, but we had a really nice dinner. I had the grouper with mixed vegetables along with grilled Brussels sprouts. There were a lot of smaller plate dishes, as well as pizza that I’d like to try sometime. Downstairs at Euphemia Haye fine dining restaurant, we saw a chef standing at a bar, carving and plating up duck main dishes. Duck seems to be one of their specialties and was on offer upstairs as well. I’ll have to try that next time. The Haye Loft, located upstairs, is designated for walk-ins only and the menu contains«lighter bites» including pizzas and a daily«sandwich» special.

I just love this place! So shabby chic in décor and delicious, creative menu served by super friendly and helpful staff! Admittedly I typically go there for an old standby which they do so well! Caesar salad with shrimp is my fave and the portion is so generous that I can only have a bite of some extraordinary dessert with some French press coffee! Satisfying in every way!

I have heard good things about this place: good desserts, talented performer. Came here w/my bf tonight, and when we arrived, all of the seats in the bar/lounge area were occupied. The waitress was less than professional. After failing to acknowledge our presence for more than 15 minutes, we decided to ask her for assistance. To that she replied«I don’t know where you can find a seat’. We were ignored the whole time we were there, so we decided the dessert wasn’t worth waiting for.

WE have been there multiple times for dessert, which seems to be their strength. We will not go back for dinner. The service is lackluster, to be polite.

While I appreciate the demands associated with peak season but the Haye Loft(upstairs at Euphemia Haye) fails the price/value equation. A single waitress was on hand to service the bar area and deck and while she tried it was impossible to provide any reason level of attention. The Ceasar Salad was average quality but certainly not worth $ 17(without any anchovy or extras). The pizza was good but we waited almost 45 minutes. Adding it up-1 salad, 1 small pizza and two glasses of wine cost almost $ 85.

We went here for dessert on a Thursday night. The place was reasonably crowded with live music. There are many dessert choices to choose from and it’s nice to see all of them layed out to help you make your decision. My fiancé and I ended up with the peanut butter mousse pie. The slice must be at least 5 inches tall and it’s definitely enough for 2 to share. The filling was pretty good, but the crust was terrible. I love crust and my primary reason for eating a pie is the crust, so this was pretty disappointing. Overall, it was okay but I probably wouldn’t return.

Dessert lovers unite — this place will make you fall in love. Not only are the desserts each amazing, but seeing them all lined up in buffet style with the host explaining each one makes the experience that much better. I’ve had the chocolate cake, the pecan pie, and the banana cream pie. Each one has been delicious. On top of the strong dessert showing, the bar has a great after-dinner drink menu(and wine list), and the music has been a nice touch each time I’ve visited on a Friday night. I’ve only eaten dinner up in the Loft once, but that was delicious as well. The thin crust pizza is crispy enough to hold up, but soft enough to melt in your mouth. Plus, the prices for dinner are very reasonable. Totally recommend this place — one of my favorites in Longboat!

After dinner at Euphemia Haye, your server will ask you if you’d like to adjourn to the«Haye Loft» for dessert. Say«yes.» I don’t know about the 864 cakes or pies on offer, I’ve never tried one. The reason husband and I come to the Haye Loft is for flambéed desserts: bananas foster, cherries jubilee, crêpes Suzette. I mean, where else will you find desserts afire, outside of New Orleans or 1955? And THL’s versions are all done with aplomb. When you arrive at the dessert smörgåsbord, a server will walk you through the selections. They *used to* tell you about the flambés of the evening, too, but on our most recent visit no mention was made. So I asked. «We have bananas foster tonight,» the server said. «But the chef won’t cook it tableside.» Fine. Whatever. They *used to* put on a show, but If I can’t witness the burning of my bananas, I still want the bananas. And they were delicious. The bananas retained their nice texture and were literally swimming in a super sweet and decadent butter-rum sauce. Two scoops of French vanilla ice cream, slowly melting into the warm mixture, helped to cut the richness and sweetness. I also had some kind of coconut liqueur type coffee drink with a toasted coconut rim. Bill came to $ 50. Good thing this is a really-rare-occasion place for us. THL also has a limited food menu with prices a lot more reasonable that downstairs. I’ve never eaten anything but flambé here, tho, and neither should you. Ummmmm yes please! Best deserts on the island. This place will make you fat! I mean what restaurants have an entire FLOOR dedicated to sweets?! Yum. I can’t come here too often, it’s too dangerous.

Great variety of decadent desserts & after-dinner drinks. The Haye Loft is half dessert-room, half lounge above the Euphemia Haye restaurant on Longboat Key. You don’t need to enjoy the restaurant(which is amazing, but pricey) to enjoy the Loft. My wife and I made a special trip whenever we had a craving for something sweet. We sat in the lounge area once, but usually got a table in the dessert room. One of my favorite parts of an evening at the Loft is the dessert tour. Upon arrival, you are ushered toward the extensive display case and an attractive young lady(sometimes two) runs through the dessert choices, Vanna White-style, until you have made your selection. These«Dessert Barbies» are sometimes very knowledgeable and helpful, sometimes not-so-much…but it’s all good fun. You are sure to find at least one dessert to fall in love with. Some favorites are the Triple Berry Glaze, the Peanut Butter Mousse Pie with Myers Rum & dark chocolate icing, and the Crème Brulée. After-dinner drinks are a lovely accompaniment. My wife usually enjoyed a dessert wine, like the Quady Essentia or Electra; I invariably ordered the Kona Dessert Coffee. Yum.

Oh Euphemia Haye(which is what this restaurant is part of) how do I love thee? I went here with 2 other adults and 2 children and everything was great. The waitstaff treated the kids with respect and were super friendly. I got the peanutbutter mousse with chocolate and rum ganashe and that was like eating whipped peanutbutter and chocolate. Amazing. Others got the apple walnut crumble and loved it. The slices are huge-I had to get a to-go box. This isn’t our first trip here for dessert and definitly won’t be our last. The dessert prices are $ 6.50 for most items.

Well I ended up here after dinner. It was a Friday night and I knew no one in town, so I thought«what the heck I’ll check it out» when the waiter asked me if I was interested in seeing the loft after dinner. The loft contains a very appealing looking menu and had I not been so full I would have definitely ordered the white chocolate crème brûlée… it looked so tasty! If only I had not eaten so much! Oh well… There was entertainment across from the dessert area, so I figured I’d go hang out there for a little while, enjoy a glass of dessert wine and let my food settle! I sat down and it wasn’t very crowded there considering it was a Saturday night, but then again it was late and well the snow birds probably do not stay out that late and that’s probably the type of people that place attracts. Immediately the Bartender attended to me. I asked him for a wine menu and he gave me back a huge listing of wines. The bar had a huge selection of fine alcohols. It was a lush’s dream! All the top shelf bottles you could think of! I could not decide what to get, so when I asked the bartender what he thought of the Moscato that was on the menu, he poured me a small tasting so that I could decide for myself! Wow, I thought… most places would have never done that! Everyone did seem to know each other there and it felt very at home! I ordered a glass of the Moscato… it was good! Then I saw him pouring a dark colored drink, but it was in the Vodka section, so I figured I’d ask what it was he was pouring for people. It was the Van Gogh Double Espresso Vodka he explained to me and told me I had to taste it, so again he poured a small tasting in a glass for me! «How cool» I thought to myself?! I only hung out for one drink just because it was rather boring there by myself, but I thought how fun it would be had I been there with more friends! The bartender is definitely great and like mentioned in a previous review… he knows his stuff!!! Definitely go there if you’re looking to just chill and have some drinks!

I was looking for a cozy spot with better than decent food, and the Haye Loft accomplished that. I sat at the bar. The bartender, if I overheard correctly, has been there 15 years and he knows his stuff… friendly, knowledgeable, and makes one feel comfortable. I had the house speciality – roasted duck. The preparation was very good, crispy, and way too much food for one person. I knew that before I ordered but decided to try it and take home what I couldn’t finish. Not the best duck I have ever had but way above average. The Caesar Salad was okay but the lettuce was soggy whereas the dressing had a nice anchovy kick. Clearly this is a local hangout. Pricey. The Duck cost about $ 35 which is on the high end for me for an entrée.

I have to rate this one low. Please see my review of the main restaurant, Euphemia Haye. The Haye Loft’s main claim to fame is a «Burn’s Steakhouse”-like, 2nd floor desert room. This would be great if it wasn’t a) a rip-off of Burns and b) had deserts on the same culinary level as the restaurant. All the cakes presented looked half-melted. The disaffected teenager walking you through the choices makes one begin to wonder if this is a mistake. Then you’ll buy a slice of cake or pie and realize that it is, indeed, a mistake. Such a disappointment compared to the main restaurant. The allure of going upstairs for a cocktail and desert will definitely pull you, but be wary. One piece of cake for two people and 15 minutes are all you’ll want to devote to this dark, hard-wood chair, slightly creepy Friendly’s that will erode your experience of Euphemia Haye.
