Alex’s Bagel Shop

Maybe I caught them on a bad day. Coffee was old and the bagel was crunchy and tough. She wouldn’t toast is as she said the toaster was done for the day. Second bad experience and I will find a different shop to spend my money at.
Tried it again today as I’m working next door and it’s a much more pleasant experience.

Good bagels. Awful customer service and rapport.
The bagels are arguably the best in the area, but I’d prefer just to go Benson’s bagels in Springfield by the «X».
That being said Alex or whomever the owner is needs to learn about building a rapport with his customers.
I ordered two dozen bagels the other day. He charged me and gave me 24 bagels. In my head I thought that’s strange usually a bakery offers a baker’s dozen. Spent another $ 11.00 on two small cream cheese containers. So I am now spending $ 35.00 for two dozen bagels and spreads. On my way out I saw a price list that said baker’s dozen $ 12.00. So I said to «Alex» shouldn’t I have gotten a two more bagels? He shrugged. I said, same price right? He shrugged and «If you want.» I said I want.
Guess what now Alex? I shall never return to your store. Great job. I hope attempting to save yourself the cost of two bagels late on a weekday morning was worth it to you.

Never a let down from the moment you walk in. Employees are nice and if you’re lucky enough you’ll get to see them make the bagels right in front of you, pretty cool. Best bagel-​cream cheese combo around, also hands down best croissants besides New York City and Paris, France. A lil bit further but worth the trip every time, guaranteed to hit the spot. They have a great name too ;)

I must say these are the best bagels that I have found in Western Mass. Not a lot of crazy flavors to choose from just good down home bagels. Crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside and when I picked up a bakers dozen they were still warm. Can’t really get any fresher than that. Why can’t others in this area be as dedicated to making a delicious bagel such as this? Until I find an answer I will be making the trek to Longmeadow to fulfill my bagel dream! If your a fan of good bagels try a few of these… you won’t be disappointed.

These are really the finest bagels I’ve had in a long while, in or out of NYC. Wow. Crunch in the crust, and tender and flavorful inside without being doughy or airy.
This place seems to be called Alex’s now, but we are just visiting the area so I don’t know whether that’s a change in ownership or something else. The bagels are great regardless.
Note this is not a restaurant. There might be one table to sit at, but just barely. If you order egg on your bagel you’ll get a precooked egg patty, not an egg freshly cooked on the grill. So don’t bother — the bagels are star of this show.

Whoa this place has great bagels! It’s so tough to find a good bagel in Massachusetts. Too bad I had to go all the way to Longmeadow to find one. Their bagels are nice and crunchy on the outside and soft (not doughy) on the inside. A bagel with cream and a large coffee for under $ 5 is a win. The only negative is that the staff isn’t that friendly. That’s fine with me though. I’m looking for a good bagel not warm fuzzies.

Saw this place literally by accident. it really is a hol in the wall… behind a shopping plaza. As soon as you walk in the standing room only room (like 3 people could stand at most) you know its going to be a :“bagel” expereince… they are all great. have one every time im in town… youll never have a Lenders, Dunkin Doughnut bagel again after you have the real deal from here.

Hands Down Best Bagel Ever!
This teeny tiny establishment bakes one heck of a sesame pumpernickel bagel. I think it is called White Russian.
I lived in Longmeadow for four years while attending Bay Path College. Whenever I got sick of the on-​campus food or ran out of my meals, I would walk down and treat myself to a While Russian with strawberry creamcheese.
Boy, I miss Kimmell’s. Those bagels bring me back to my college days! :)

Excellent bagels! Prices are very reasonable and the variety of bagels changes frequently. Their homemade cream cheese also is very good.

Alex’s is inferior to the old Kimmel’s and far more expensive. They also changed the basic recipe. Go to Benson’s/Manhattan Bagel at the X.

Great bagels, although it’s Alex’s bagels they are still good. The current owners are not very friendly but the bagels make up for that. 1 dollar for a bagel and if you want it toasted with cream cheese or butter it’s about 3.

Kimmel’s is now known as «Alex’s Bagels». They are the same good quality though, so nothing else changes :) Exactly as I remember them from my youth.

Every bagel experience is judged against Kimmells. I’ve been enjoying Kimmell’s bagels for 20 years and have yet to find another that holds up to the wonderful crunch on the outside and the freshly baked, warm chewy inside. I long for this feeling of bagel-​satisfaction but no other bagel is the same, I guess I’m sentimental.
I can still remember years ago, Phil in his white baker-​garb, spreading a delicious layer of veggie shmear on my still-​warm bagel. My Sunday mornings haven’t been the same since.
