This is an average pretty generic ice cream store. My biggest complaint is the lack of standard flavors. Tonight was the second time I’ve been into this location and they haven’t had rainbow sherbet. It’s been my favorite flavor since I was a kid and this is the only location I’ve been to that doesn’t keep it in the case. I don’t find myself in north Longmont all that often any more, so it’s disappointing when they don’t have it. Went to get a Blizzard instead.

Finally! A Baskin Robbins in the area! Honestly, I don’t know whether this is «great» ice cream. But the flavors taste the same to me as some 40 years ago when I was growing up in Portland, Oregon. That’s a big plus. Sometimes they seem a little short-handed, but that’s probably the nature of the business. Sometimes they probably need one to two more people for a half hour or so, because the line gets extremely long. I would think such rushes would be almost impossible to staff for. Generally the staff seems cheerful and competent. I’ve dinged them a star for two reasons. First, although the store is quite new, it seems somewhat run-down already, like maintenance(heavier cleaning than counter staff would be expected to do) isn’t being tended enough. Second, the ice cream often isn’t quite frozen. Apparently the cases are not being kept cold enough. This isn’t a problem at the Baskin Robbins in Loveland, so clearly it IS possible to keep these flavors frozen. Our side of town is short of places where kids and their families can gather informally for a little treat. Although I’d love to see the relatively minor improvements I mention, the store is a nice addition to the neighborhood.
