Leaving Shreveport, I found myself gripping my steering wheel for dear life in torrential downpours at night, following pretty close behind a truck to use his brake lights to lead my way. 45 minutes into this torture… I told my sister. I’m not doing this tonight! She googled a few hotels while I leaned forward like a granny and tried to stay on the road and she called Homewood and booked a room immediately — being that we are both Hilton Diamond members. We had a nice, large suite with a full kitchen. Homewood really does look like someone’s «home» — the bedroom is separate from the«living» or sitting room and it’s quite cozy. My reasonings for not rating it as a 4 or 5* is — most Hilton’s give us complimentary water and sometimes snacks at check in for Diamond members. This hotel did not offer water, nor did it have water or ANY«incidentals» — ya know: mini bar, sodas, candy, overpriced nuts — for purchase in the room. It. had. nothing. A completely empty refridgerator(apartment/full size). Every Hilton property I’ve ever been in has at least had bottled water with a nice little $ 3 price tag hanging from it. Oh…and their free breakfast… yucky powdered eggs and cheapy sausage. Orange juice in a box, like in grade school. Dried up looking pastries… the only edible offering was the waffle machine. Blech… So…it got us through the night comfortably, on short notice… it’s new and clean… just come prepared with your own snacks n stuff and skip their breakfast… it’s not worth getting up early for.

Don’t let this hotel fool you. The older sign, circa 1980s or 90s, gives way to a clean, modern, updated hotel lobby and dining area. The 1 bedroom suite is roomy and stocked with everything you need, from the usual toiletries to dishes to silverware to cooking utensils to coffee and a complimentary bag of popcorn. The sink and vanity are separate from the bathroom, allowing ample room to groom, beautify, and shower. The bedroom was sunny, with two firm queen-sized beds, a desk, a dresser, sliding-door closet and a flat screen tv. The living room had a love seat and chair, dresser, and flat screen as well. We enjoyed the complimentary hot breakfast that came with our hotel reservation. The hours are great too. After dancing the night away at a wedding, we didn’t have to worry about waking up early in order to make it to breakfast. We had until 10am to get some grub. My only disappointments – and unfortunately, I have a few – when we arrived, the door to our room was open. There wasn’t cleaning staff in the room at the time, so we were unsure why the door was left open. Today after we had breakfast, we went to collect our belongings and the door was open again. We were initially upset. Nothing was taken, but we were lucky. Then, after a closer look before going to bed, we noticed a cookie under the dresser and a waffle fry too. By the desk were a pair of dirty socks. You can imagine we were wondering how well the room had been cleaned up after finding these treasures in the room. Lastly, the sofa bed is a false advertisement. The mattress was flimsy and a joke, really. It was holey and felt like a thin layer of springs. I was appalled. My main reason for choosing Homewood Suites was to take advantage of the sofa bed. Otherwise, we would have gone with a cheaper hotel. The total cost for one night was about $ 125. Despite all this, I wouldn’t mind visiting again. Overall we liked the hotel and its amenities(free hot breakfast, pool, late check-out, suites, gym, etc).

Stayed here for 2 nights for business — we arrived late on the first night and were met with the most pleasant associate, Christine. She did everything she could to make us feel welcomed and contacted a colleague who arrived earlier to let him know we were there. The hotel was clean, well kept, it is huge and the rooms are big, comfortable and pleasant. Ample parking, easy access to the highway, a good breakfast and free wine and beer in the evening to unwind. Not too shabby! If i have to return to Longview, I would choose this hotel again!

This is a cute little hotel that definitely makes you feel like home as you walk into your suite. It has a full kitchen(fridge, microwave, stove, dishwasher, and even cooking utensils and a bag of popcorn), dining table/desk, full living room set-up, and separate bedroom area with bathroom. There is also free internet with both the wireless option and also a wire on the desk if you prefer to plug in. The hotel staff is very nice and they provide a welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately though, the food options in the hotel and nearby are not very appealing. There is mostly fast food and pizza chain restaurants in the area, but we couldn’t find any familiar sit-down restaurants where we felt comfortable eating. The hotel has a complimentary welcome home reception from 5 – 7 with free wine and beer(blue moon and coor’s light), so I figured I would try that. They have a menu on the fridge that said steak and chicken fajita strips, which translated to dried out and unseasoned pieces of meat. I couldnt even eat the steak strips because they were too overcooked, and I had to drown the chicken in ketchup. Then I had three bowls of vegetable soup, two pieces of cornbread, and some fruit to try to fill up. Their complimentary breakfast was just as awkward with some weird form of egg and some ugly looking sausage, so I stuck to cereal, fruit, and yogurt. Basically a good place to stay, but you are probably better off heading to downtown Longivew to eat. There was a billboard about new restaurants and shopping downtown but we never figured out how to get there.
