Jalapeno Tree Mexican Restaurant

We come here every Sunday with my hubby, this is my favorite place to come eat. I am in love with their green sauce and could eat it every day!

Good Food and Good Service. Can’t wait to go back!!!

Par for the course here… Uh Average, what can I say If ur hungry it’s good. Nice service. Dirty bathrooms… not so nice atmosphere

Unfortunately, I have to wait till we come out to Longview, TX to see my boyfriend’s mom to eat here, but it’s always a stop when we do! The food is great (I normally get the Relleno when I come). It’s lightly breaded and the pepper is pretty big! They bring out salsa and chips at the start of the meal along with a jalapeño cream sauce that is cool, goes with a lot of stuff, and isn’t spicy if you don’t like that sort of thing. If you do like spicy, like me, they have a lot of options for that too. The service can be a little slow even when they’re not busy but it isn’t terrible. They also have free soft serve ice cream for after dinner!

So my husband and I went to have dinner we came in and stood for a while the hostess finally came and said she would get some one to clean the table for us… after about 6 minutes he finally came and cleaned a table and we were seated. Immediately we were given chips and salsa no water. We waited a total of 15 mins and no one even came to our table so we left and went to Denny’s where their is service. Will not return to this location again.

Great service. Met here for lunch business meeting and had. Great server. Steak quesadilla. The server made it amazing! Seriously she was stellar.

Been hooked on this place for years. Haven’t lived in Longview since 2009, but we drive 4.5 hours just to get our JT fix. If only they’d open one in the Houston/​Galveston area, my life would be complete.

I’ve loved Jalapeño Tree for many, many years. I may live in Missouri now, but this is still my absolute favorite Mexican food restaurant, and whenever I visit family, I make it a point to stop here.
The red & green sauces are… oh, man, ridiculously delicious. I love them. I want bottles of them to take home with me. I used to order pints of them to keep in the fridge at home. Their chips are usually fresh and warm. They have the best flour tortillas I’ve ever had. I almost always order cheese enchiladas with queso on top. They are so rich but so good. My husband, mother, and other family/​friends say that you absolutely have to try the fajitas. The garlic butter sauce they come with is divine.
Why isn’t it 5 stars then? Honestly, I’ve had some issues at this location. Sometimes the service is off, or the food comes out wrong. Nothing big enough to ruin my love for Jalapeño Tree, but often enough that it merits a 1 star deduction.
Still! I highly recommend this place.

Meh. It’s OK. I came here because a colleague requested it while on a business trip. I have had so much better food. I ordered a sampler plate, which had a tamale with one each of chicken, beef, and cheese enchiladas served with rice, beans, and guacamole.
It was all swimming in the same chili sauce, which was just OK. It completely overruled any and all other flavors. The rice was dry and kind of bland. The beans were just so-​so canned refried beans.
Their salsa was very, very good. I probably should have just stuck with that and maybe a couple tacos. Maybe my experience would have been better.
The service was good, so no complaints there.
It’s just an OK restaurant. I probably won’t return the next time I’m in Longview.

Jalapeño Tree is a decent choice for Mexican. They have good fajitas and some awesome chips and hot sauce. The green sauce is the best I have ever had.

I sat at the bar and had my dinner. Bartender was very nice and made sure I had everything I needed. Food was good and I will go back again.

Service here was great; seated immediately, friendly staff, patient and smiling waiters. Drinks were refreshed multiple times, and even apologized for the wait on the food (even though the food wasn’t taking that long at all).
The food itself was excellent for a chain restaurant. The chips they serve come with salsa as well as a spicy avocado/​sourcream sauce, which is excellent. I ordered the Bo Diddly, which is catfish & shrimp with a tequila cream sauce, and I was very impressed with the catfish – it was nice and crisp on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside, and the sauce was flavorful. Their margaritas are decent, too.
Would definitely like to try more of their menu soon!

I would have given Jalapeño Tree 3 stars, but they serve that pre-​cut, chemically treated lettuce and it totally ruins the flavor of their food. Great chips & salsa and fajitas and better than average standard TexMex fare such as tacos, enchiladas, and chalupas, as well as tortilla soup, but the lettuce has a horrible taste. I wish they would switch to fresh or at least rinse off the preservative that prevents pre-​cut lettuce from turning brown. Yuck!
