Office Depot

For over 10 years I recycled inkjet cartridges at OfficeMax, received rewards, used them to buy more ink and other items. (My family owns four inkjet printers.)
Since the merger of OD/​OM, in spite of three long telephone conversations with customer «service» staff who guaran-​damn-​teed me that it was «fixed,» I have yet to see a single penny of reward. Silly me, I have thrown out the receipts most of the time, because I trusted the system. I’ve now started to save them, but plan from today forward to buy my ink online from reputable businesses.

This is the place I go when I have office or computer electronics needs and questions. Was in to look for a non standard monitor cable. Talked with the guy behind the counter and since they didn’t carry this pin out, he pointed me to an online site where I could get what I needed. Other than the cable, they’ve always had what I needed.

Wife and I went in looking for a voice recorder. Slow Monday afternoon One other customer in store. Well we split up, wondered up and down isles. No one approached us and finding none we left. Cashier was behind us placing store basket back in rack. Sure we could have woke someone up but instead bought one on amazon when we got home. None in store, no visible floor person, so 2 stars it is.

Office Depot vs Staples
I normally use Staples for my office needs, but was curious about Office Depot since I was in the area. It was a good time to price compare and get a feeling for what they offer. Compared to Staples, they are fairly comparable on many items. Some of their tech service prices were quite high in comparison and their PC Tune-​Up offer is easily beat by Staples.
Big, clean, well organized store that was easy to navigate and find items with ease. Employees were engaging, but not vulture-​esque. Decent deals on specialty and clearance items. Did not like that their computers being repaired are out in the middle of the sales floor (security /​privacy risk) and in easy reach of anyone walking by. The best selection of cases, back packs, and bags that I have ever seen. High end products.
Great selection of tablets and had some really good sales on them as well. Out of the two that we were interested in, they only had one in stock, but like everywhere else, the Internet will save the day for ordering and shipping.
I felt very anonymous in this store and easily absorbed by all of the square footage. I know many customers like to be hand held with tech sales and questions, so they may have issues here. (Staples techs are readily available and will spend the entire day with you if you are in need. Very personalized service.)
Decent store overall. I will pop in when I am in town to check their sales and specials being offered.

On 5÷17÷2013 I went into this Office Depot after having had a bad experience at another store in this shopping center. The clerk Donna made it all bettter. Within 20 seconds of entering the store she walked up, introduced herself and proceeded to inquire what I was looking for. She was knowledgable of her stock, let me know that they could order it online and have it shipped to my home free. I did.
