Shotgun roll, red lion roll and Halloween roll taste so good. Best sushi I ever had in a while. Thanks for everything. Will be back

Remarkably good value. Fantastic Sushi. Would never have suspected such a place in Longview. My only suggestion would be to ask them to go easy on the rice for your rolls and Nigiri. For Sakura: the above critique is to let you know it’s better business to use less rice. From a business standpoint, when a client fills up on rice they are less apt to order more sushi. From a customer’s standpoint when we’re craving sushi, we’re going to get what we want. If that means one more roll, or two, we’re gonna get it. You’ll get more money out of me if I’m not already full on Rice. I know it seems counter-intuitive but me being less full on rice is ultimately better for your bottom line. Actually headed there now ;-)

Like many reviewers have commented, there are definitely better restaurants that serve typical Japanese fare, but not here in Longiew/Kelso. Sakura is better than the other sushi places around here, so when I was just dying for good sushi on my birthday but unable to make it to Portland or Seattle, we came here instead. The restaurant itself was clean and doesn’t smell like fish, which I think is a good thing. The server is always smiling and quick. I ordered Unagi(BBQ eel) sushi because I can’t have raw fish right now. It was just fabulous! It was the second thing to come out and it hit the spot on my craving! The eel sauce was not too salty and just the right amount of umami! Next came our rolls. We ordered the«Miso Sexy» roll and the«Ninja» roll and both were just fantastic and innovative! The real crab boasted on the menu for the«Ninja» was just fantastic! The asparagus in the«Miso» roll was fresh and not soggy, so well done there. Now comes the part that my Husband says ruined the meal. As our main, he ordered the Sukiyaki and I ordered Naboyaki Udon. I think we were really expecting better after the rolls, but what came out was just not. Firstly, they were both in big pots, which was a good amount for the price, but that’s about the only positive thing I can say. The broth was very watery, and everything was just thrown into the pot. One of the most important things about Japanese cuisine is presentation and the soup had none. The mushrooms were just rubbery, there was no meat in my Naboyaki and there was shredded cabbage instead of chrysanthemum leaves(which wouldn’t have bothered me if the presentation was better.) There were HUGE chunks of broccoli which lent a very off flavor for this soup. My husbands Sukiyaki was no better. Traditionally served in a wider, shallower pot on a burner, again, presentation is everything here! Your supposed to add the ingredients to the pot at your own pace, but here everything was literally just jumbled together into the same pot that I had for my Nabeyaki! Again, primarily shredded cabbage, his beef was extremely thick and so hard to chew, I think it was stew meat. I can go on about the inefficiencies of these dishes, but I won’t. Suffice to say that the soup made us feel that we spent too much and that it wasn’t worth the price. We had major buyers remorse after the soup. I can say that had we stopped at the rolls and sushi, we would have been satisfied and my rating would have gone up. But the soup killed it for us. I have been here before and I was able to have sake(salmon) sushi and Tako Maguro(fatty tuna) sushi and the quality was good. Not five stars good, but genuinely better than the quality of their soup. My takeaway: If you are in town, and are desperate for good sushi and rolls, this is your best bet! Just don’t expect much from the soups.

This spot is all right. I wasn’t expecting much since its Longview. I got the chirashi bowl which is basically raw fish over a bed of rice with wasabi and ginger in a corner. The presentation was ok and the cuts were fairly generous. The fish wasn’t cold either which is a good sign. You get a nice mix of salmon, tuna, cooked shrimp, red snapper, white fish(?) and one other that I couldn’t remember. It would have been helpful to take a picture. Sorry :/ The plus side is the food comes out quick! The sushi chef is Asian, so it adds a bonus image of authenticity. The place is clean! The servers are attentive! But unfortunately what I got was subpar, which is what I’m concerned about. For 20 bucks, I was hoping for some more flavor in the fish. I wouldn’t order this again but I’m glad I tried it. You’ll definitely be a little more than content finishing it. If you’re not into raw fish. They have lots of sushi rolls, bento boxes with teriyaki chicken, and even some noodle dishes. They gave me a side of miso soup and some cucumber salad garnished with sesame seeds which was nice. If you’re not picky and want to take a date here, it wouldn’t be a bad choice. If this is your first time trying sushi, don’t let this experience dictate if you like sushi or not though because there’s definitely much better quality spots out there! Just probably not in Longview.

My husband and I love this place! We visit several times a month and they have consistent, delicious, fresh food. The sushi chefs are talented and open to customizing an order — we always offer to pay extra if needed. We always feel welcome when we walk in the door. Love it!

Was very hungry and went for sushi. This allowed me to try many plates. Started with a Cucumber Salad that was very good. Cucumbers were marinated but not too mushy. Next came the Sashimi Sampler as an appetizer. All fish was very good with the exception of one, which had an awful fishy taste. It was a white meat fish which I tend to shy away from anyways. Others were very good. Bring on the main dishes… Ordered a Lady Roll and a Rock N Roll. Lady Roll is quite good and a standard order for me. The Rock N Roll caught my attention due to the use of cucumber rather than wrapping in rice or seaweed. This was very different and delicious. As I said, «I was very hungry.» Ordered a Red Lion Roll to top off my bottomless pit. This was a great way to end it all. Service was good, waitress was friendly and food was quality. Not the highest quality sushi I’ve had, but good for the area. Rate it between 3 – 4 and because of the white meat fish being fishy on the appetizer I’ll give a 3.

Today’s adventure found us at Sushi Sakura in Longview. We ordered Bento 3(teriyaki chicken, tempura assortments, salad, rice and miso soup), eel roll and a California roll. The miso was iffy, salad wasnt out flavor profile but the sushi rolls, teriyaki chicken and tempura were amazing! ! Restaurant was clean and service was good. This place will be on my sushi shortlist of places to go.

We still very much enjoy going here. The service is always great. Sushi is always very fresh. Our favorite rolls currently are: Kiss of Fire, Philly Roll and Spitfire Girl. Also, we always share the Gyoza’s for an appetizer. Thank you Sushi Sakura for consistent sushi and wonderful service.

New sushi place in town and had to try. Very impressed with the staff and atmosphere. I wasn’t too sure about the quality of fish but the salmon sashimi was amazing and large pieces. We ordered 3 rolls along with the sashimi and all were impressive with quality fish and an amazing platter. I recommend the volcano roll, as it had large seared tuna. Pair this with a bottle of saki and its a perfect night! Highly recommend as we will be back!

Let me first state that I am not a sushi fan. Never have been, and may never be. So for me, the name was a little off putting. My family recently ate here though and informed me of how great it was, so I figured I’d give some of their non-sushi items a try. The food(Teriyaki Beef) was great and came in a good sized portion. While it did not beat the teriyaki beef from Ichi 12, it still was good and not very expensive. The staff was also very friendly. While waiting for my take out I had ordered, they offered me and my buddy some drinks to hold us over until we received our food. Overall, a nice place to eat with some reasonable prices.

We love this place. They’re so friendly and accommodating. They have the best sushi in town. A little known tip: if you’re a bit picky, challenge them. They’ll make anything you want and then write it down(if you’d like) in their special orders book. Try the«Adam Roll» — that’s mine and, obviously, delicious. Enjoy!
