Good bread but not worth the owner’s attitude… I have stopped in Los alamos twice and bought bread, and both times the owner was rude.

Bob’s is a very warm and welcoming bakery/restaurant with absolutely amazing artisan breads, baked items and breakfast/lunch items that are both unique and delicious! Specialty items for sale in store like stuffing mix, home made pickles, ketchup to name a few are fun items you can find here. Bob always greets with a friendly smile and makes this place a local gem.

Bob, the owner of Bob’s Well Bread did contact me and we hashed out our differences. I have changed my review to 5 stars, based on his wanting to satisfy even a wronged customer. Plus the sandwiches we got were very tasty, we had the ham and cheese, the eggplant with goat cheese(I think) and fresh OJ… When I did have the chance to walk in, I remember a quaint little café, with smells that took me to a passage of my memories of places I had visited in Italy. This is Not the type of café you would think to find in this sleepy town called Los Alamos along the coast line of beautiful NorCal. So if you’re a local or passing through, don’t miss this little café with big taste. Tell Bob I said hello and that Jack D from Unilocal recommended you! Just keepin’ it real Bob The Real Foodie

I love this place and go there often. This is absolutely the best coffee in SB and SLO counties– no one can compete. I am completely addicted to their gluten free cookies. They are amazing. I would also like to address the one star review I read about Bob being rude to a customer. I don’t believe it. He, his wife and staff has always been wonderful and taken good care of us. These are good people. Possibly the reviewer has an attitude problem.

Awesome little bakery in Los Alamos. Incredible breads, and pastries. Great place to grab a coffee and a croissant. Be sure to take a baguette home with you, as they are delicious.

I can’t find anything to complain about! This place is just that good! I use to get vanilla or mocha added to my coffee, until I had their lattes and I don’t need the sugar anymore.

Coveted 5 stars for this bakery. We are on our way down to L.A. this morning and I remembered a visiting advertising lecturer I met a few years ago(Bob Oswaks) had opened a little bakery in Los Alamos. I am so glad we made a 5 minute stop, grabbed a ham sandwich($ 8.75) and a croissant($ 3.50) and got back on the road. By the time we hit Buellton, we had wiped out the sandwich, the croissant and the most delicious cup of coffee($ 3.50) Then, we were filled with regret that we had not gotten more items. California is a bread-poor place. All the bread in the grocery store(and most bakeries) tastes the same. This is probably because they all use the same frozen dough. I have also heard theories that the wheat is ruined and the water is bad. So, when you find a bakery that makes handcrafted, fresh, flavorful bread and pastries — seize the opportunity and load up! We will definitely be making a special trip down here from Paso Robles to satisfy our carb cravings.

Stopped here to grab a meal while passing through on my way home. The place is adorable to start off. The employees are very friendly and the food was so good. I got the breakfast sandwich and it was delightful. The English muffin that it came on was unreal. I highly recommend this place

Every time we come, I am pleasantly surprised by the food. It’s never what I expect, but it always exceeds expectations. My wife is always craving bob’s, but we never think to go! Today, I had the croque monsieur– it was one of the best things I have ever eaten. Bob and his wife are always friendly and welcoming hosts. It is a must-eat location for the area. Very pleased that they got new tables, also! Much sturdier! Very nice!

Exceptional quality, great service, superb pastery — check out the Kouing-Amann which is superb! Flakey croissants in all the best ways! The simplest breakfast: pain au levain baconized w/an egg and bacon lardons is the stuff happy dreams are made of. The coffee is strong, the atmosphere and service are inviting, and Bob is both a gentleman and a scholar of breadmaking. I was in Los Alamos for 4 days and 3 nights and had breakfast here each day. A warm, happy awakening to every day can be had here! Bob rocks!

Awesome bakery place and MORE!! Everything made in house. Farm fresh eggs and they cure their own salmon. Innovative menu. Nice big outdoor patio too. Right off the fwy. A MUSTSTOP on your way up or down the coast!

Found out about this through Sunset Magazine, convenient for lunch on the 101 return from morning wine touring up Foxen Canyon. My wife surprised me by wanting to split the Line Cook’s Pâté. She does have her Pâté cravings that this day coincided with mine. I could have just eaten the Onion Marmalade alone, the toasted Sourdough, perfect. Nice cool day to sit out front, but wish we’d sat inside — we had the usual 3 guests outdoors — 2 flies and a yellowjacket. Swat away, and people parking up in front think you’re waving at them. No one waved back. Drove by the next day on another venture, wanted to stop in again but too close to dinner…

We stopped by on Halloween to have a bit of breakfast and see what Bob’s is all about. It was full of folks sitting around outside in the deck hanging out drinking lemonade, coffees and water… having what appeared to be very entertaining conversations which made it seem all the more inviting. I was a bit apprehensive since we had our 6 week old daughter with us and based off of previous reviews I was not sure how welcomed a fussy infant might be but we tried it anyway. I am pleased to report my fears as completely unfounded. Bob was manning the front and he greeted us when we came in along with the staff. Everyone was very kind and attentive even when our sweetie started to get shitty. The building is lovely and very well kept. You can tell a lot of love went into trying to make it look nice and the menu(or what we had of it) was very good as well. Nothing overly fussy and very delicious! I understand where some people feel it over priced and the menu size is small. It’s not iHop and if your looking for large cheap plates this isn’t for you. If your looking for the experience and some artisan flavors I definitely think you will not be disappointed. Provecho!

I had an excellent mini brunch in Los alamos today. Simple toasted bagel with whipped cream cheese and a double fresh ground espresso. Topping this delicious meal off was the outside seating and excellent scenery. It’s a must try!

Best bakery around. Pretty fantastic. The Kouign Amman was out of this world. As was the sourdough bread we brought home. The only reason this place didn’t get the fifth star was because my husband said his egg in his Benedict was slightly under done. We will be back the next time we are in Los Alamos.

Super delicious breakfast. Loved every bite! The delicious smells surrounded the unique stand alone building. I would drive up from Santa Barbara for a delicious breakfast here. Perfect for a quick stop on your way up north from LA. We had the avocado toast and egg in a jar. The toast was delicious and perfectly seasoned with salt and crunchy with the pepitas! The egg in a jar was super creamy with purple potatoes and tart with crème fraîche. The pastries were delicious as well. One of the best croissants I’ve ever had as well as a delicious kouign amann.

Where do I start? My girl friend & I were on a little road trip delivering Ojai Jelly– We dropped by Bobs ready to eat everything in sight. We ordered a pork chibada-type sandwich, avocado toast & carrot soup. Lightly dressed salads were served with our sammies. Our meals were beautifully plated & beyond delicious. The avocado toast was my favorite, with its velvety avocado, extra browned bread edges & pepita seeds– YUM We also enjoyed hard apple cider & wine– We can’t wait to go back & try more & I’m cursing myself for not buying chocolate croissants for morning & bread– OMGTHEBREAD— Quaint, darling Los Alamos– we’ll be back soon

I can see us getting in definite trouble every time we are in this vicinity. And if you pass this place up, well, you are a fool. They haven’t been open too terribly long(August 2014), but they have definitely made an impact. They do other food, including breakfast items, soup, etc, but really. Let’s get down to the important stuff. Start with a Chocolate Almond Croissant. Elegant and huge, with 2 bars of good quality chocolate. It looks like a cross between a croissant and a bear claw, only better. Pistachio scone. I can hardly keep myself from swooning. Ham and Cheese croissant, buttery good with plenty of filling. Oatmeal Raisin cookie. Nice, but after tasting my other prizes, I would pass on it. Don’t get me wrong. This is a fine cookie made with the best ingredients, including real butter. Yum. But I am going for the extraordinary right now. A few gluten free baked goods. The Everything GF cookie sure looked good. The Kouign-Amann is made from croissant dough with a delicate, cheesy, caramalized sweetness, and salty too. Outstanding. And how can you pass up the Stumptown coffee? I would assume they are pet friendly, as there is a nice patio area for dining. Since they stay open until 6, we might have to catch them again on our way home. Damn them.

Hey… I can’t speak for everything(cause I just tried one), but I must say that the French baguettes we took up to Cambria made some lovely homemade french toast the next morning. Even being a day old. I think I’d love to court you again. Maybe this time, a little rendezvous with the chocolate almond croissants. Oui. I’ll be back.

It is time to start 2015 with a proper review, deservedly so: Get in the car, get on a bike, hell take a train & hop a lift to this wonderful Bakery ASAP. WHY? Because they have what we have all been looking for– Fresh Euro-style Baked Bread; House-churned Butter; Homemade Jam & Almond Butter; Stumptown Cold Brew; &ALL in-house baked goods. Most samis are served with greens from their garden out front(arugula along w/fresh herbs). Traditional croissants with imaginative creations make this place a «Go To» destination. I personally recommend the simplicity of bread & butter to be enjoyed onsight, but if you happen to be a little more adventurous, order«to go» and drive a short distance to one of the thousands vineyards nearby and enjoy a wine tasting while indulging upon some truly traditional fare provided by Bob :)
