I can’t say enough good things about this camp. My daughter went into the camp a very strong writer and with a passion for writing stories. I honestly wasn’t sure how the camp could help her improve her writing skills(aside from focusing on spelling, punctuation, etc). I thought it would just be a camp where she could enjoy spending time writing stories. Was I wrong! After just a few days, she came home with a better understanding on how to plan and organize her stories ahead of time(she grumbled about having to do it when they taught her at camp, but now whenever she writes a story, she takes the time to plan and organize her story rather than jump right into writing). She takes pride in writing«basic» sentences and then edits them 2 or 3 times to expand the sentences so that they become really extraordinary(In the past she would balk at the mere idea of editing her work and would even take it as an insult). Adventures in Writing has really changed the way she thinks about writing and has boosted her self confidence as a writer in ways I never thought was possible. On a side note, their staff is phenomenal! They’re young, fun and have a wonderful rapport with the kids. I personally spoke with Jen, the author of Mr. Lemur books and co-founder of the camp, several times at the camp. She is super nice and I loved the fact that she was at the camp checking in on everything. Thank you Jen and Hans for making these past 2 weeks amazing for my daughter! Leah Rich
