Was craving some sushi and wanted to try somewhere new(I already tried most of sushi places near the San Antonio Shopping Center side of El Camino) so I ended up here. I was a little bit concerned about getting something raw since there were some negative previous reviews, so I ordered only precooked seafood sushi roll. The service here was great. The Korean lady who greeted us(this restaurant is Korean owned) was all smiles and very friendly. She served us edamame, tea and some miso as soon as we got seated. From the menu, we ordered and love-tofu sushi roll, teriyaki tempura shrimp roll and a kimchi hand roll. We also got some sapporo. Edamame: tasty! Miso soup: also tasty! Love-tofu: good! Comes in a set of 8 rolls. It is stuffed with imitation crab meat and avocado and topped with fried tofu. Has a nice spiciness to it Teriyaki shrimp tempura: tasty! Can’t go wrong with this one. Comes in a set of 5 rolls though, kinda a weird off number? Kimchi hand roll: was okay. The kimchi was a little bit overwhelming. About $ 4 for one hand roll. Overall, the food was pretty good. I have had better sushi though. I feel like there wasn’t as much care that went into making/displaying the food. Maybe its because it is not really a Japanese run restaurant? Not saying that other nationalities can’t make great sushi, but usually its the case that good Japanese food are made by Japanese people just like if u want to get good Mexican food you would most likely go to a place where the people who make your food are Mexican.

I’ve been going to Sushiko for years. Service and food consistently good. Bentos and course dinners are excellent.

Authentic Japanese food, healthy and very affordable. I ordered the salmon teriyaki and bulgogi bento. It was amazing. Server was also very friendly.

We just came back from the worst experience at sushiko. The place was too hot for a sushi restaurant. The AC was barely on(if at all). The beer was warm. And the best part of all, the sushi storage container was at 45 degrees(it should be around 33 degrees). And they charged us full price went I pointed this out to them!!! I took a picture of the thermometer! Don’t get sick! Go to Masa sushi around the corner, it’s fantastic, much better!

Best hamachi sashimi I’ve ever had. Grand portions — not just slices, but more like tiny steaks of fish. The strip mall location is fine.

Got there a little late for lunch, they close at like 2:30 I think, got a Bento box, wow, loved it, very tasty stuff. I love sushi, but most places I tend to get the Bento box to sample other stuff, and I was not disappointed, and since the average price for lunch in Los Altos seems to be at least $ 15, to get a full Bento for that was well worth it. I will most certainly go again.

The food was delicious. Service was a little slow, because there was only one wait person for the entire restaurant. All but two tables were filled at lunch hour. I ordered the three item Bento box in the dinner size, and it was completely filling. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant.

This is a very friendly neighborhood sushi place. The lunch specials are pretty standard bento boxes, teriyaki chicken, and chirashi. The oyakodon is nice and hot. Its served in a square bowl, kind of cool. We also ordered the stone pot rice, which came out really crunchy and yummy, with three kinds of fish eggs. Got an order of hamachi sashi, which made my day. Very fresh. They were cut a bit thick, but oh the more to love you with. They are busy at lunch, but still very polite and efficient. When we were able to flag down the server, she never forgot anything we asked for. And they all great you when you enter and leave.

I was nearby and hungry, so I placed an order for pick-up. I ordered 5 rolls(2 lion king, dragon, crunch, and something Victoria?) and 9 piece sashimi for $ 92! The food was barely average. Victoria roll(or something V, I forgot) is exactly like lion king roll but with a piece of scallop on top. I don’t mind spending that much, but food could be better.

Worst overall sushi experience of my life. I am absolutely appalled at A. their Salmon teriaki serving size, i got a measly 2 inch by 3 inch single piece of salmon that was over cooked, virtually no teriaki, and I seriously can’t believe that their sushi chef calls him self one, i mean, I got a simple roll of Cucumber, and when i got home to it EVERYSINGLEPIECEHADFALLENAPARTLIKEHEDIDN’T TAKETHETIMETOMAKESUREITWASSEALEDUP!!! I will never go back there, I can’t imagine i am the only one who feels this way. complete rip off, besides the nice server and person in the front this place SUCKS. don’t go. terrible.

Great Price. Sushi quality not bad. Menu was a bit to big for me. Nice folks, but a bit slow. They cut their Sashimi slice WAY to think for my taste, but the rolls aren’t to bad.

They acknowledge every customer that walks through, «welcome!» & as they leave. Staff is pretty friendly Although place is pretty small. The sushi roll rainbow dragon roll is ok… I would give it a 5 out of 10. For the price I regret getting that roll. But I’m sure they have better rolls.

Probably the fastest service I’ve ever experienced at a Japanese restaurant. The food was great — based on the reviews below, it seems like not ordering a sushi roll was a good idea. I had the salmon shioyaki, three lightly salted and grilled fillets served with a small side of salad and rice. My friends ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box and a pan-fried rendition of chicken udon, which was tasty. Overall, the portions were generous and we ended up barely finishing our meals.

Solid, small sushi place in awkward strip mall on the corner of San Antonio and El Camino. I came in for lunch and had miso soup(solid), a green salad(very nice, crisp fresh lettuce and such), and spicy rainbow boll — a twist on the classic which puts spicy tuna inside instead of California-roll interior. It was very good. Overall, a positive experience. Nice service. Clean but not spotless. $ 20 in total and that was ordering a la carte.

Final sushi lunch of the summer before my boy goes back to college. I let him pick his favorite and order whatever he wanted. Sushiko was the pic. This strip mall has always had great lunch options ever since I worked two blocks away 20+ years ago. The hostess/owners are always very welcoming. A got 3 different rolls. I didn’t take notes, because I thought I’d have use of the online menu when writing this review. Alas they’re not online, so I’ll have to describe the items as best I can. I had a roll to start which had maguro, crab, avocado and? I loved it but wished it had been a bit more convenient to eat. I always heard that traditionally each sushi piece should be eaten in one bite. This was a bite and a half for each piece and no way to hold things together once the first bite was taken. I also had a bento with gyoza and tempura. It was very tasty, except the shrimp piece in the tempura was soggy and undercooked. A had a spicy tuna roll, spider roll, and oops, can’t remember, some kind of crunch roll, with tempura crumblies all around. The miso was excellent, the obligatory salad was so-so with a limp pinkish tomato. All the raw fish was pristine. Nothing very creative, but definitely solid!

3 stars for food quality. +0.5 stars for food quantity. +0.5 stars for service. So I’ve only been here for lunch and it’s only for their lunch special. I come regularly because it’s totally the value relative to some of the other Japanese restaurants. For $ 12 the daily bento comes with 4 items: chicken teriyaki, gyoza, California roll, tempura. My other usual Japanese lunch spot charges the same amount, but gives fewer pieces of Cali roll and no gyoza. The reason why Sushiko can deliver a greater number of products is because the food quality isn’t as high. There’s a lot of panko on the tempura. The shrimps are pretty thin. The Cali rolls have quite a bit of sauce inside and use krab flakes instead of using a krab stick. I’ve had pretty good service experience thus far. The staff has been super friendly every time. They’ve even given us a free item to try every so often now that they recognize us as regulars.

Service was great but no matter how nice they were it couldn’t make up for the food ;( Tiny sushi(except for where they piled on the tempura flakes to hide how small the rolls were. Fake crab & no flavor. We ate one piece of each roll … paid… left. They were so nice that we actually took the food with us so we could toss it because we felt bad –sighs–

From my tip: The food was pretty good — a few positives and a few negatives but the overall experience left me happy! Positive note — the service was a bit slow(but super polite!) so we got some delicious I ice cream! But let’s break it down:(starting at an impartial 3 stars) +1: Polite staff, very aware of being behind of schedule +1: Price point — it’s rare to find a sushi place that can give you an 8pc nigiri combo for $ 16, my grad school budget is a fan! The fish seemed pretty decent quality for the buck! –1: Some of our nigiri came out with warm rice which really screwed up the taste of the fish. The warm rice creates not only a weird texture but also messes up the butteriness of certain fish. Overall: Find me back here when i’m in the area! Next test: to check if they are consistent! :)

Came by here for lunch with a coworker. It wasn’t too packed when we arrived shortly before noon. A good amount of tables and a small sushi bar. Their sushi is like a book, so many choices, and their prices are unbelievably fair for a sushi joint. They have special lunches for the day, and their bentos are only $ 8.95(2 item) or $ 11.95 for 3! Dinner is only a few dollars more. Lots of choices, but I settled on a bento as that is the best bang for the price. I went with the chicken katsu, shrimp and vegetable tempura, and california roll, which also comes with rice, soup and salad. They also have Korean items which is a no brainer that this is Korean owned. They gave us edamame and the soup to start with, and service was very pleasant from beginning to end. My coworker’s rolls came out first and the spicy crunch had a ton of tempura flakes over it! Mounds and mounds of it! They are very generous with their portions and my food was about average for Japanese/Korean lunch fare. Nothing over the top, but still very good. Chicken katsu was perfectly fried, but some of the chicken was a bit too fatty. Good tempura, surprised they gave me 2 shrimps, and california rolls were pretty good(no cucumber though). We had food leftover so it was good snack or second meal. All in all, a lovely lunch with my coworker and would come back again for a hearty lunch or to hit the sushi craving.
