The food was alright but the service was absolutely terrible. We never had water on hand… always had to ask for it. Had to get up to find our waiter to ask to bag our items, to get the check, and pay for the check… mind you he had only 2 tables. If there was an option to pay less than 20 percent gratuity(which was included) I would have.

Love the vibe of this place. It’s fun to pre-game here before a night of going out. The drinks are good, the food is yummy, and the company is always great. It has indoor/outdoor seating and two bars. The staff is really friendly.

Came here for a birthday party and got to try a bunch of the«snack» foods(truffle popcorn, bread with truffle butter, and calamari). All of it was fantastic. The ambiance is really nice on the patio. Not sure if the opaque«roof» over it is permanent or just because of winter/El Niño… but either way, the tree with lights in the center is a really nice touch. All of the staff was really friendly and they have a great selection of drinks to choose from.

If you’re looking for a good Italian food, put this place in the top of your list. The bar itself is a great place to sit down and eat. The place is big, and they have DJ Steve with amazing chill house tracks! The whole place has a warm but still LA atmosphere to it. Would recommend ordering a pizza here, which I never do in restaurants. So good!

Quaint and cozy place with very tasty food which wasn’t too greasy or heavy. I loved the black and white movies being played throughout the night. Definitely will be back here. Overall had a pleasant experience. Definitely plan on coming here again.

Came to this venue for a work party, so I don’t know much about how this place normally is. However, the location is great. I love the little outside area and the interior is wonderful as well. Staff and bartenders are very nice and knowledgeable. Only had a few things to eat which I thought were all only very mediocre, but that could have just been the event I was attending. Pizza wasn’t bad though! The other bites were only okay.

Really loved this place. I had the rice balls, margarita pizza, and the caramel bundino. The place is really rustic. Definitely going back for the pizza:)

I don’t know how this place is getting a $$ price rating. I cleared $ 120(including tip) for a dinner for two with no appetizers and no alcohol. I guess everybody else just filling up on the truffle popcorn or something? The ambiance is pretty cool. I imagine it would be nice at night when they opened up the ceiling in the summertime. But then the food sucks and its not mad cheap. The service was pretty sucky as well. The waiter was slow and brought the wrong dessert. A good tiramisu could’ve calmed us down at the end, but that weird crushed almond situation they brought instead just left us feeling confused and wanting to just get out of there. Also, when I called to see If I needed reservations the dude on the phone said«noooo» and started yawning loudly in my ear! Hahaha. I almost gave this place 3 stars for the comedy factor, but… yeah, no.

The worst restaurant I have ever been to. My ladies and I went for girls night out and were all madly disappointed. Who would think an 8 ounce glass of lemonade that was never refilled would be 6 freaking dollars. The server was very condescending and rude. We never felt like our skin color ever mattered till experiencing this restaurant. I am only giving 1 star because the calamari was actually good. Besides that I would never go back. This is exactly how my 4 friends feel.

This place is designed to make you feel you are in Europe, Italy in particular. The main dining are is actually an outdoor garden that is covered in the winter time. Overall the atmosphere is calming with good(not loud) background music. Service was very good. The food was very good as well. Authentic and rich in favors. Portions were the right size. The place is very large, so chances are you will find a spot any day or night.

I came for an event and returned for the atmosphere! Aventine is truly gorgeous on the inside, with a main bar area, table seating area, and a patio in the back lit trees, beautiful lanterns, and rustic décor. Although I’ve never had a full meal here, I’ve tried a few appetizers(catered for an event) and one kick ass dessert. The charcuterie is on point, as are the meatballs. THECARAMELBUDINO — layers of chocolate-pecan crumble, salted Caramel, soft whipped cream, and Maldon salt. Wow. With an impressive wine list and welcoming staff, the Aventine is a wonderful place for a group gathering.

Came here this past Saturday for my roommate’s birthday. First, I made reservations at 7:30, but our party was running late. Sadly, we couldn’t be seated until the entire party was there(super frustrating). Our table loved the food, BUT there was a cockroach that roamed by the table which freaked us out(outdoor patio area). We thought the busboy stepped on it, however we saw half of the body of the cockroach make way to the inside of the restaurant. Also, since I sat by the beautifully lit trees, I was gifted with 4 mosquito bites up and down my leg. I get it, patio seating… in the heart of Hollywood but get a grip, I saw from previous Unilocalers that they experienced a similar cockroach situation. Moving on… The food was amazing. Hands down the best food and service. Our table had many«Some like it Hot» drinks and it was amazing. I would suggest the truffle ravioli, spaghetti and meatballs(you have to ask), and the margarita pizza. Will try to come back would opt for indoor seating.

This place had good music and it looks really nice inside but the food we tried wasn’t very good and way over priced for such low quality food. The calamari($ 14) was VERY heavy on the breading and the tuna tartare($ 18) was completely bland. We also ordered a Prosecco for which they charged $ 17(more than most places charge for that… which I wouldn’t mind if their food was good).

Went here yesterday as my homie Alex Russian Club had his 34th birthday. I was wondering why on a Thursday and then found out he’s going to Cabo the next day! Damn what a life! 1% We sat about 15 of us outside in the back patio. The weather was great so it was really nice to just hang out. We had rice balls, some pizza, and I ordered a Risotto pasta with chicken. The food was really good and the ambiance was even better. The only thing is it is not easy getting water in this place… I’m wondering if this has something to do with the drought. Overall, this is a new splash on Italian cuisine, definitely something different that a younger crowd would enjoy. Drank a little bit and had my boys from On Time Limo pick me up so that I wouldn’t risk a 2ndDUI ;)

We stumbled upon Aventine while looking for a place to grab a quick bite before a show at the iO, and I think the ladyfriend and I were both impressed. We were seated on the outdoor patio, under a canopy of wood and lights that still let you see far enough up into the air to recognize you were outdoors. It’s really a very nice, dimly-lit terrace, though the ambiance suffers a bit from the music being dialed up a bit too loud to permit a comfortable conversation, especially considering how wide the tables are. We started off with some truffled popcorn, which was really quite good. Just enough truffle and spice to keep it interesting, but not so much that it overpowered. The bread was perhaps the only misfire of the evening. The bread is quite soft and very bland. It’s a dense loaf with very little texture and a crust that is just as soft, peppered with a slice of tiny roma tomato that has been baked on top. I’m all for unusual breads, but you’ve gotta give me something to make it interesting, whether it be an interesting flavor, or a particular mesh of textures. This was just white bread. Very uninteresting. And the butter they served it with was garlic and truffle oil. Now, I don’t want to go off on a tangent, but let me say one thing about truffle oil, in case you don’t know much about it. Truffle oil does not come from truffles. It has nothing to do with truffles. It is straight-up a laboratory concoction, slapped with a truffle label to seem fancy. It’s closer to WD-40 than it is to truffles. I don’t mind the flavor, as with the popcorn, but not everything benefits from truffle oil… this butter was one of them. In any event, things got better. I had the fettucini Nero which was a squid ink frutti di mare, absolutely chock-full of seafood. The sauce was advertised as spicy, but there wasn’t even a hint of spice. Still, it was tasty. My special ladyfriend had the agnolotti, which was absolutely superb. I was lucky she was nice enough to share some with me. The service was friendly and attentive, and the pacing of the meal was just perfect. Minor missteps aside, I really enjoyed our experience, and next time I’m at the iO, I think we’ll return.

Myself, my Mother and a work colleague were stuck at a poorly catered function in Hollywood so decided(upon recommendation) to check out Aventine for some real food. A lover of Italian food I was extremely impressed with this restaurant, although I didn’t get to order the meal I really had my eye on as we were doing share plates. For an appetiser our table ordered the calamari, which was juicy and melted in our mouths! Our main was their pepperoni pizza, which was perfectly cooked and delightfully cheesy. I will definitely be coming back to try out some of the pastas next time! Beautiful fit out, great staff and delicious, authentic food.

Came here last night for a date and couldn’t have asked for a better place. The waiter was funny, our food was delicious. We ordered filet mignon and a sausage pizza. I ordered 2 glasses of some blackberry fruity drink(first item on the cocktail menu) which was very satisfying. We sat outside where their were lights on the trees and it was a little more romantic compared to the inside. All in all, I had a pleasing time and I would most definetly come here again.

The thing that separates Aventine from your normal trendy Hollywood spot is the warm vibe and«everyone’s welcome» atmosphere. It all starts with the pricing, it’s reasonable for Hollywood. Atmosphere: a lot of trendy Hollywood spots are black boxes with IKEA chairs and tables, Aventine actually spent some money on their interior. It’s spacious too, there can be a crowd without feeling crowded. A front and a back bar insure you’re not elbow to elbow waiting hours for a drink. Food: something for everyone. I’ve had over a dozen entrées and they’re all proper meals with full flavor tastes. Bottom Line: if you’re walking Hollywood Boulevard looking for a spot, planning a date, or just looking for a place to post up smooth criminal style while you get your Michael Jackson on then go to Aventine. Best bartender award goes to Jason Marello.

Had a wonderful experience here. The truffle butter popcorn was hands down the best spin on a classic snack. The atmosphere was perfect whether it’s an intimate date or just friends to a group of people. The margarita pizza was on point. The lasagna was a tad bit salty for my palette but I also don’t eat much salt on dishes that I make. Definitely will be back.
